“Perfectly good hotel for the low price”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a solo trip of Europe.
Considering this was the cheapest of the hotels i have booked to stay, I was not expecting much. However, this was an adequate hotel and I had a really good stay.
Unlike some reviews in here, there was always a receptionist on hand and they were all very friendly, helpful and welcoming. My room was small but was a good enough size for 1 person. It was clean, tidy and the bed was comfortable enough for the short stay.
The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to the shops, bus stops (and city sightseeing tour bus stop) and numerous restaurants so breakfast not being included is really not an issue.
My only criticism I do have is that there was very poor lighting in the bedroom and the room was only ever dimly lit at the best of times. There was a window which looked out on to the main reception but with this open it was too noisy and anyone could look into your room as they walked past.
I really enjoyed my stay here and was surprised by how much there was to see and do in Seville.

Room Tip: Ask to have a room with a window facing the street for more natural light.

The hotel is well located, the building looks nice and the neighbourhood is quiet. The room was comfortable and clean
.
The minus, I didn't really liked the bathroom "door", it was a sliding glass door that didn't close well and therefore didn't provide much privacy. To the check-in I had to go to other hotel which is fine, but I really didn't like that the receptionist talked to me in spanish after seeing my portuguese ID card. I don't speak much spanish and I feel more comfortable speaking english, but the guy completely refused, he talked spanish and very fast and so I didn't understand half of what he said so I just took the key and went away.

But it's a good place to stay, location, price and general quality was good.

Travelling on à budget and Doña Lola was fine. Good location in THE middle of santa Cruz district. 5 minutes walking distance from THE shopping area and 5 minutes away from à lovely square full of Great restaurants.
Good beds, clean and small bathroom. Our room was at the front so à bit noisy. This 2 star hotel was even beter than THE 4 star hotel we stayed in near marbella! Just do iT.

It was booked for a conference, at 65 € per night. It is relatively clean, good mattress, laminated flooring, and central location. The WiFi was extremely slow, so I switched to my 3G which was faster. If you want to work using the desk forget it because there is no good lighting nor a chair. My room was facing the main street, which means I had a lot of natural light both in the room and the bathroom, contrary to other rooms that have no window; however, there was a lot of noise coming from the road, so if you have problems with the noise this might be a problem. You can have breakfast in the nearby square where the main hotel is located: good coffee, a huge grilled croissant with butter and jam and fresh orange juice, all at about 4 €. I would say that if you can afford a higher price then go for a higher class hotel, otherwise it is OK for a few nights.

I was a little weirded out when I approached the hotel because this random guy came up to me and asked me to follow him to another hotel to get the key and check in. It was all very strange and if I were a solo woman I probably wouldn't have followed the dude...but having checked my reservation I noticed the instructions did say check in happened at a different hotel. Once I was taken to the hotel to see the room I was very pleased; a whole suite on the top floor. Very clean, spacious and a great nights sleep. Excellent shower also. No hurry with check out the following morning either.

There is no reception at the Dona Lola, so check in at the sister hotel just around the corner, there is a map on the door and is all very easy, so don't worry about that.

Recent refurbishment has clearly smartened the place up but it still doesn't feel comfortable at all, it's very clinical and cold. Rooms are cleaned daily, but unless you chance upon the chambermaid, you won't have any contact with staff. The major problem at Dona Lola is the noise.

I was unfortunate enough to be allocated 'Grey Room', no room numbers here - just colours (yawn). This is on the ground floor directly on the street, right next to the main front door and the lift, with a tiny hard and uncomfortable single bed.

The front door is the worst problem, opening and closing with a buzz and deafening metallic crash accompanied by loud conversations from those in the lobby echoed around the stark 3 storey atrium at all times of day and night. The room doors are also impossible to close quietly and most guests appeared not to even try, giving them a hefty tug, and subsequent slam, to shut. Add to this a waterfall noise effect every time someone flushes the toilet in a room upstairs and a 24 hour trickling water sound for which I couldn't find the source. With the window directly at pavement level on the street I heard every single conversation, every bag being pulled, every bus, car, dustcart and every drunken shrieking (Be warned there are plenty of bars in this area which kick out right up to 6-7am. I honestly barely slept a wink for 4 nights!

I will put up with a lot staying at city centre hotels, you expect a certain amount of noise, but this was appalling. This should not be sold as a guest room and it absolutely should not cost 45 euros! You may be better off in a room higher up but I wouldn't count on it. There must be better options for the price in Seville.

Room Tip: The higher the better.
