Very well preserved Roman ruins of a living neighbour with very good mosaics and amphitheatre.
Bring water and head cover in the summer and check open hours beforehand because they vary for different seasons.

The museum was closed in the afternoon, although on the official Junta Andalucia website it was indicated that is should be open in the summer months until 8pm, they closed at 3.30pm. You can not relay on the opening hours given by the official websites. If you want to be sure you have to call them.

My wife and I decided to spend a bit and take a taxi from our hotel in the old city and with the cabbies limited English and my limited Spanish we arranged for him to return. Trip took only about 15 or 20 minutes. He also took us to the nearby monastery, which is an interesting short tour in itself. The ruins are extensive and took about 2 hours to tour. Interesting place for photos. The surviving mosaic floors were a highlight. EU citizens get in free, but it was a slow day and the ticket agent let us in gratis, anyway. Definitely worth a side trip from Seville.

40 minutes on the bus from Seville main bus station, ask at the Information kiosk for the bus to Santiponce, buy your ticket (each way) on the bus. The number changes but our bus went from bay 16. Stay on the bus until the last stop and the entrance Italica is across the road. If you are an EU citizen, take your passport as it's then free to enter.

We were amazed to find Spain's best kept Roman secret!

We visited Italica from Sevilla on the local bus. This took roughly 30 minutes and was 1.50 euros each way. There is no entry fee to visit Italica and all in all this trip is the cheapest you could wish for. The Roman ruins at Italica are 100% worth visiting; tranquil atmosphere and very interesting.
