“Local seafood simply cooked”
Reviewed December 5, 2012 via mobile

Spain has many excellent and unique food ingredients not available elsewhere. They are best simply cooked to preserve their original flavors. Therefore it is best to come to a local seafood resraurant like this one. They are not Michelin Star type of places and do not charge that kind prices. We had deep fried sea anemone (slimy), grilled local sole (slightly larger than palm size), clams in tomato garlic sauce (great), potato croquet with spinach chickpea stuffing (uninspiring), grilled prawns with salt (very flavorful), and deep fried whitebaits (tasteless). They are half portion size dishes, not tapas. That and white wine and mineral water for 2 persons, absolutely stuffed, came to 46 euros, all inclusice. In a top modern restaurant in Milan (e.g. Trussadi at la Scala) or in Paris this price will buy you one appetizer. However, on tourist hotspot Carre Jeronimo in Madrid a breakfast of a croissant with ham and a cup of coffee is one euro. So I shall let you decide if this place is a bargain or a rip off.

“Love!”

Best gambas al ajillo in the city. Living here for three months you learn rather quickly the best spots for certain dishes. This place for sure has them. The kitchen is tiny and they cook everything to order. That means there is nothing sitting around for hours. When you order the gambas they cook them so it may take a bit to get your order if the place is packed. Try the gulas al ajillo as well (baby eels) if you want a great dish as well. Also order their manzanilla (glass of wine from Andalucia). They are always friendly and will definitely be there to make any recommendations should you have difficulty in choosing what to order.

“Great place......”
Reviewed April 3, 2012

Fantastic local atmosphere, superb people behind the bar, great tapas and a small sit-down restaurant. This is no up-scale restaurant in anyway but honest, simple and great value for money. You will find other tapas bars in th same area....but this was clearly the most popular one with the locals.

“Great place, superb staff”
Reviewed March 13, 2011

We headed out late-ish in a Sunday night to an area pointed out by a guide, and found this gem.

The staff were very friendly, and we had them recommend some food. We had some great myssels, and perfectly cooked mushrooms. The best was their solomillo al whisky - pork loin in a garlic and whisky sauce, which us a Sevillian specialty. It was fabulous.

As it was my partner's birthday they gave us some complimentary port at the end of the meal.
