I had the Menudo stew with ham and chorizo sausage in it. It was some of the best stew I've ever had and I highly recommend it. Very flavorful and the 1/2 portion is more than enough for a grown man. Use the bread to soak up the tasty juices.

Service was a tiny bit slow. And there was a faint musty odor when I first entered, I think just because it's an old building and it was hot.

But a good meal: stew, bread, water and beer for only 10 Euros!

I would definitely return.

Tucked away on a residential side street in Triana, the tiny place has a down to earth and authentic look with bullfighting posters on the walls and ceiling. There is a well translated menu in English and the food is fantastic.
We had the sirloin of pork with garlic, the bacalao (cod), the pimientos de padrón (mild green peppers) and the bean stew. All were top notch, as was the house red. The price was also much lower than anything comparable on the other side of the river. Get here at opening time (8:30 pm) to be sure of a seat. They won't have everything that is listed on the menu, so be flexible. You won't be disappointed.

I was recommended Sol y Sombra by the receptionist at Monte Triana Hotel. The food was excellent and the surroundings interesting and characterful.

This is the place to come and eat - it is quite small and in the bar area they are lots of hams curing. Picture of bull-fighters and other posters are on the wall. The dishes were all around €6-9 each and at first this seemed very expensive compared to other places (often 1 tapas is 1 item and costs around €1.5-2.0 each). We ordered 2 items – peppers stuffed with tuna and also hake with gulas and prawns – don’t know what gulas were but probably noodles – supposedly a substitute for baby eels ?. Each dish was quite large – there were 4 peppers on one plate and 2 large pieces of fish. After that we ordered a lamb tapas which was marinated in cumin and was delicious. Three tapas and 2 glasses of wine each cost €31.6. Again a copa or glass of wine was just €1.60. An excellent meal and fascinating insight into a local tapas bar

I have been eating and drinking best tapas and beers in this lovely Bar,every time I have the opportunity. Waiters have been working there for more than 25 years, decoration remains the same last 75 years. There are a huge variety of differents tapas, most of them very traditional and absolutely delicious.
