We happened on this by chance as only opened in the last few years and not yet in many of the guide books. Those it was in hadn't bigged it up but we thought it worthy of at leat a peek. We were not disappointed. The sinuous and amazingly engineered bolted together structure is supposed to be the largest wooden sculpture in the world (we weren't convinced it was made from wood..) and appears as you walk towards where it is located like some giant mushroom. Take the lift up to the sky walk and enjoy a panoramic walk around the top level, taking in far reaching views towards the cathedral or towards the countryside the other way. Enjoy your complimentary drink at the bar conveniently located at the top of the lift. Not to be missed if you are into engineering - or views!

This is a great example of modern architecture done in such a way that it stands out on the streets but still screams Seville. It's a beautiful view from the top and wonderful to just sit or wander around. There is also a lovely bar with a drink included with the receipt so you can sit up there with a couple of friends and have a drink. The roman ruins also are beautiful and lovely to see as well.

However, this is something that doesn't take the whole day to do so make sure you have something else planned for the rest of the day.

I was surprised to find this relatively new attraction in Seville. The structure is spectacular and great to walk around and over. Wonderful views. Very inexpensive and includes Roman Ruins and a provisions market. We spent a happy couple of hours here.

Reading about this edifice or seeing pictures of it do not prepare you for the impact of it. It is HUGE and, we discovered, the largest glued wood structure on earth. I went prepared not to like it but fell in love with it. The Metropol Parasol has four main levels: the Antiquarium which shows Roman and later archeological finds, an excellent food market, a café with great views and the ‘sky’ walkway with even better views. The latter two are perfect for the setting of this structure. In a long squiggly walkway, shaped rather like a uncurling snake, you get a 360-degree view of the city with spectacular views of most of the major historic sights. The viewpoints have very informative notice boards which help you to identify the sights. However, do note that the walkways are not level so be careful as you wind you way up and down over the 'mushrooms'. It must be nearly 200 yards to get around on the metal plates which do rather bounce under your feet and if you are scared of heights, don’t look down. There is also a great outdoor performance area too. This multipurpose edifice divides opinion and whilst I didn’t get an opportunity to ask any Sevillians what they thought of it, I consider it is a clever way of integrating the very diverse uses it houses and will remain a focus for many years to come as long as the glue keeps the structure together! My wife and I walked all around at ground level to see the Metropol Parasol from every angle and it is clear that regeneration of the Plaza de la Encarnación has not been completed as at the far end of the plaza there are some buildings in real need of renovation. It rather spoils the plaza but no visit to Sevilla is complete without adding "Las Setas [mushrooms] de la Encarnación" to your list of things to do. Unmissable...

The attraction is architecturally stunning from ground level, resembling the gills on the underside of giant mushrooms - the local sevillanos refer to it as "Las Setas" (wild mushrooms). It houses a great fresh food market and bars, with Roman remains beneath ground level - also worth a visit if
if ancient history interests you (2.10 euros). Take the lift (just 3 euros) and you will see stunning views over the city - best on a sunny day or towards sunset - and you get a free drink voucher included in the price of the ticket. The walkways ("pasarelas") have orientation plaques, pointing out all the iconic buildings you can see from the various viewpoints. Fantastic value, a truly pleasurable experience for all ages. Wheelchair access is available to parts of the walkways, but the larger, higher sections are stepped.
