“Good food and location, but not cheap”

Description: Situated in the glorious Barrio de Santa Cruz, La Albahaca is elegant and historic. A restaurant with a past, La Albahacas building dates back to the 1920s, an era when architecture was grand and gorgeous. So expect original features, none of which have been tampered with to create the graceful setting of this dining room. An impressive central courtyard is surrounded by chic little vintage styled dining rooms in which small groups of people enjoy their food under the dim buzz of conversation. The menu, which has a classical French theme, is equally impressive and just as elegant youll be reminded of the kind of dishes fairy tale royalty might enjoy.

Nicely located in quiet square behind cathedral.
Food, wine and service were all good.
Quite expensive (£50 per head for 3 courses wine and tip ) but worth it for a good meal in a lovely location.

My wife and I have eaten here about 4 times when in Seville over the last 4 or 5 years, we found it by accident while wandering one evening when the place we had been planning to go to was full. A discovery well worth finding.
A fairly expensive restaurant (to me!) but not the most expensive in town. Excellent for a special meal such as an anniversary, a cut above the normal places.
Beautilfully decorated series of rooms inside and a small patio area, about 8 tables, outside in the corner of the small but pretty Santa Cruz square. We have always had excellent attentive but not pushy service. The portions of vegatables with the dishes are perhaps a bit small but all the food is beautifully prepared and delicious. A wide range of wines is available at sensible prices.
On a summer eveing sit outside under the trees and listen to the music from the neighbouring flamenco hall. At cooler times or one of the rare times it is raining go for a table inside. We have tried both and never been disapointed.
Booking is advisable at busy times but they have always found us a table.

Don´t trust the guides that recommend this place. Avoid it if at all possible.
Went there one evening and asked fa table. As one waiter showed it to us we proceeded to sit down. In that moment another waiter (a bit tall, with whiteish hair) came furiously shouting and waving his arms saying we couldn´t sit yet because he had to clean the table first (as if we were going to sit on the table itself and not on chairs). We were so shocked by this incredibly agressive attitude that we didn´t even think of leaving that instant, as we should. Bad mistake. The food is obviously frozen days before and heated up, the sade dishes are cold and mushy and the deserts tateless. One of the worst restaurants I have ever been to.

I enjoyed a fantastic flamenco show (8 PM) at El Gallo on the Plaza de Santa Cruz this past week. On the recommendation of the concierge at the outstanding Alfonse XIII Hotel, I ate at the adjacent La Albahaca restaurant immediately afterwards (10 PM). My travel companion and I were seated outside and enjoyed a totally satisfying meal. While it was not a bargain like the menu of the day described by vera-brazil, it seems hard to believe that the other reviewers (WhirledTravlr and vanjacobson) ate at the same restaurant. And the lovely setting, at least during spring and fall seasons where you can enjoy dining al fresco, added greatly to our experience. We enjoyed watching the guitarists, singers and dancers from the flamenco show enjoy time together outside, literally yards from where we ate dinner. I highly recommend the show and dinner at La Albahaca for any foodie looking for a lovely evening in Sevilla, so long as they're willing to pay a fair price for the experience.
