“A January Trip”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2014

Tried to take a tour of the Park in January. If you are English with little Spanish, don't try! You are not welcome, the receptionists make that obvious. There are two 4 hour tours per day 0830 and 1500, In Spanish only and you must book ahead. After that information is passed on then it's "Please do not disturb". Sad, but then their job is safe so why bother to promote the Donana?

“Watch out for donanareservas”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

Trip was 28 euro it is the normal trip. The bus was traveling via normal roads some we saw some birds an animals but nothing special. The far end of the tour was the place where some people was just fishing so nothing wild. The "english" of the guide was really spanglish and 1 to 5 spanish english ratio of speaking. For me this trip was really nothing special. Maybe try to get the extended version.

“Highly secured !”

The park is heavily protected from occasional visitors and access is only given through guided tours. We did not take one.

“Expensive & boring”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2013

The visit we chose was the one organized by the Real Fernando, a mix of boat & 4X4, 30€ each.

Well, I must say that eventhough we had a great tour guide/driver, knowing a lot & being funny, we were really disappointed by our visit. 2 4x4 buses of 20 persons each following each other on sandy path for about 1,5 hours without seeing anything but some deers & wild pig (great, I live in Belgium and I can see those any time :-S), oh, and I forgot the seagulls, was really boring on top of being unpleasantly hot.

The boat tour to bring us back was even more uninteresting & hot...

For that price, just do something else : a good restaurant or any other activity that sounds appealing.

“An Outstanding Day Out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013 via mobile

July is clearly not the best time to see the most wildlife, and it certainly was unpleasantly hot. However, the sheer size of the park, the vast differences between the various ecosystems, all thriving shoulder-to-shoulder, together with the quality of this 4 hour tour mean that this truly is unmissable. Booking was easy over the phone, and the staff make every effort with english. The tour started at 5pm (don't forget that this is 4pm if coming from Portugal as we did!), as around 70 guests were loaded onto 4 4x4 buses and taken along the beach and then into the dunes and onto the wetlands. The guide did a great job between Spanish, English and some pretty challenging tracks. He knows the park so well and could answer every question. He made a stop in the dunes where he explained about the movement and development of dunes as well as animal tracks, and again by the river, where we saw the traditional thatched houses of the people who had lived there for centuries. despite the heat, we saw red deer, fallow deer, boar, black kites, wild horses, lots of seabirds and even a wild cow. My tips: eat at the visitor centre, buy water for the trip, take along some bug spray and avoid Matalascanas in July - it's full!
