We had lunch here after touring the Alhambra and beginning our long drive home. The food was very good, portions much too large but fresh ingredients well prepared. The service was slow initially because a tour group was being served. When we realized a large tour was eating there we had second thoughts but we weren't in a hurry and once they were served, we couldn't complain about lack of attention.

Directly across from the Alhambra on Paseo de la Sabica, this restaurant is beyond wonderful. The food is excellent, the prices more than reasonable, the staff incredibly friendly, and the view - stunning. The lights at night on the walls are part of the glow at the Jardines.

Mind you - it's up a LONG flight of stairs - there is a bench for resting on the landing - so it's not easily accessed. If you are in good health, this is more than worth the trip. If you have a disability, I'd call to see if there is an alternative entry.

There are "lagniappes" offered - olives to begin, alchoholic or non-alcoholic ponies of delicious aperitifs at the end - that make you feel even more special, valued, cared for. The staff all speak quite good English and told us they love to practice it. They tolerated our terrible Spanish with good humor. They were very kind, funny, sweet natured. Of course the food was, on its own terms, quite worth being there. We ate there twice, the best meals we had in all of Spain.

Beware a second issue - there are two resident cats that, while quite well behaved, will sit and project massive guilt at you if you do not share a morsel or several with them. If ignored, however, they will gracefully depart. They don't go where they are not wanted. We fed them. We are now friends for life with them, the owners, the staff.

I will never eat anywhere else in Granada. It was a joy to be there on every level.

We arrived very early for our afternoon entry to Alhambra and arranged to meet a friend at the closest cafe to the ticket collection point for Alhambra. This restaurant is loctaed right across the road from teh ticket collection point and entrance. We (4 adults, 1 baby) went in for coffee and a relaxing rest and ended up staying for a few hours and the coffee was followed by lunch. The coffe was fine (not super exciting but certainly drinkable and well presented). The accompanying toasted sandwiches were plain - certainly not exciting but edible if not a little too large (but that shouldn't be a complaint). So the coffee and accompaniments were a little expensive. The lunch that followed a while later was actually very tasty. The salads looked grea, the tortilla (spanish omlettes) were really good. Service was fairly good.

The restaurant is nice and shady (you'll know how nice that is when is mid 30's outside). Staff were friendly and efficient. The dining area outside is nicely finished.

On the whole, we found that it was a nice place to wait to see the main attraction across the road. We weren't expecting delicious food but we got very nice food and our wait for Alhambra was very comfortable. Infact, when we finished in Alhambra a number of hours later, we went back for our third 'meal' of the day and finished off with nice coffee and slices of cheese cake, before our drive back to our holliday base.

We went here because it was close to Alhambra and mentioned in Rick Steve's book. (All he really says is that it has a nice courtyard, more formal menu, and feels less touristy.) The food was really awful. My husband had one of the Spain specials which was a lot of sausage, other meat, and eggs. I had pasta carbonara. We were both very unhappy and both felt pretty gross for the rest of the day. I would not recommend this restaurant.
