“Warm, cozy and clean.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

This hostal is very close to great places to eat and visit, old and more modern Granada, shopping places, cultural venues and historical buildings. The hostal is very clean, family-owned and managed, on a second floor -which we got confused about since we asked for a room in the first floor and in Europe that doesn't mean ground floor-, it doesn't have an elevator so if you have knee issues this is not your hotel. Very nice place to stay, a little noisy at night but all of Spain is since people are in the streets until very late at night. They won't accept your card unless the charge is more than a hundred Euros so take cash.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bathroom inside, and there are some rooms with a view to the street and some w...

The location is good but this is also the main problem for us: noise from the students in the square and bars below. Also the truck comes to collect glass rubbish very early. Having said that, the room is clean and everything works (although the wifi drops out regularly) and it is good value.

We were in Granada for 3 nights and we needed something close to the center that was not really expensive. This hostel turned out to be the perfect place. Great location - situated at one of the most beautiful squares in Granada and around 5-6 minutes by foot (at most) from the Cathedral and the Albayzin. The room was everything we expected and we needed it to be - simple and clean (you don't get to spend much time in your room when you visit this wonderful city), and on the top of that we had the best view every morning as you can see from the pictures. Great value for money deal.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view to the Plaza de la Universidad as this way you will get a view to the lov...

We stayed here last week (beginning of april) and were very happy with it. Excellent central location - picturesque but also practical. Very friendly owners. There wasn't much space to move around the room but that suited us as we only needed a place to crash at night really, had a double bed, balcony looking onto nice square and the bathroom was fairly modern. Good if you've come to do lots of sightseeing/ are visiting someone as can get to pretty much anywhere fairly easily.

Very nice accomodation situated near one of their large universities. 10 minute walk to the bus station and very close to the Granada Cathedral as well.

Owner was very nice and was able to accomodate our needs.
Overall : Very good value for money! Basic rooms but good location

2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2009

I stayed in a single room at Fonda Sanchez 2 nights in September 09. The hotel is located in the middle of the city center, only 2 minutes walk to the cathedral and the famous arabic marked. When you book the room they ask for the estimated arrival time, and upon arrival you have to ring a doorbell and trust that staff are present. The reception was at the first floor behind a closed door. The man/owner was friendly but of few words - and those are all in spanish! He provides you with a key to the street entrence in case is is not there, and furthermore the mobilenumber to him in ase of emergeny. The room was a little small but tidy, clean and simple, and even though it was a single room I had a queen size bed. Air condition costs 2 Euro and the hotel does not provide breakfast opportunities. Lastly but furthermore most important - it is VERY NOISY!! The plaza outside is noisy all night, both from people and garbage trucks! Luckily I brought my earplugs which helped me through the nights! I paid 29 Euros per night which was a fair price, however I know from experience that better options for the same rate can be found. I can reccomend this place for anyone who just needs a bed for a simple purpose - and anyone who have no trouble sleeping in the middle of a battlefield! ;-)

We spent 3 nights here on a short break to Granada. The hostel is basic (the rooms do not look anything like those on the website though - the decor is a lot more outdated!) however the room had everything we needed and the bathroom was very clean.
You cannot take room keys out with you but there is a 24hr reception to collect/drop off your keys as you come and go. Breakfast is not provided but there are plenty of places nearby to eat.
Our room looked out onto the university square which was lovely but was a little noisy some nights. The square has a lovely creperie, nice little shops, a beautiful church and access to the university buildings which are really nice to look around.
Practice your spanish as the hostel owners speak very little English but are pleasant and friendly.
