“A group tourist hotel.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

This is a modern hotel on the outskirts of the city. Modern and functional and good value. The room was standard for a modern hotel mainly marketing to groups. Lighting level from the low wattage lamps was dreadful particularly as the weather was overcast. When we arrived, We had difficult getting into the underground parking lot because of the number of coaches we had to navigate. For an hotel dealing in groups, the reception was inadequately staffed, but they were friendly. We had to wait nearly half an hour just to get a new key because the one we were given did't work. Breakfast was truly dreadful. Again, a serious lack of staff didn't help matter particularly when trying to work the coffee machines and navigating the buffet, consisting of a mix of cereals, breads, fresh and tinned fruit, and an assortment of cooked items. The scrambled eggs should be avoided at all costs. Putting a value on location, check in/out, staff behaviour, room/bathroom experience, food and beverage and value for money, out of 10, I'd give it 5! But, it is reasonable value for money. You get what you pay for.

we stayed 3 nights in 2 rooms. The rooms are nice. The hotel has the looks of a bussiness hotel. The swimming pool was out-side but was closed. It opens only in summer time which was a pitty for the kids. Breakfast was ok. Only comment : the eggs were very good but cold so perhaps another system of keeping -warm should be looked in.
The location : the hotel is out-sie the citycenter but there's a busstop nearby tho bring you to the city-center -15 min drive. You can also easily reach the alambra with a bus.

I stayed at the Macia Real for two nights in April 2013. I chose the hotel because I was driving, and wanted somewhere easy to leave the car.

I was extremely happy with everything about the hotel - the staff were uniformly excellent and helpful, the rooms were very clean, stylish and quiet, and breakfast (I didn't try dinner) was excellent with a very wide choice.

As others have mentioned, the hotel is out of the city, so not one to use if you want to wander around the hotel. But, the #33 bus runs every 10 minutes, stops outside the hotel, and drops you in town 10 minutes later for the princely sum of 1.20 Euros.

Also, if you're planning to see the Alhambra (who wouldn't?!), then it really isn't an enticing walk from the hotel (as some have suggested). It must be at least 30 minutes, up a busy, unappealing road.

My recommendation would be to take a taxi, or better still, organise a guided tour of the Alhambra (which will pick you up and drop you back at your hotel). I had no choice as there were no tickets available directly from the Alhambra, but on reflection I'm glad I did it this way. The extra cost over the admission ticket only (51 Euros compared to about 18) is well worth paying, and our guide was excellent. You also get the chance to stay in the Alhambra all day after the tour if you want, whereas the standard ticket is for either morning or afternoon only.

So overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone driving to Granada, or if you want a base away from the hubbub of Granada. Not for those who want to be within walking distance of everything though.

Room Tip: Rooms at the top/back of the hotel are quiet - can't say if others aren't though!

I satyed for one night in Nov. 2011 as part of a tour package. It was clean and quiet, but was a bit of secluded if you wanted to take a walk in the evening. Dinner was so-so, but it may have been our tour agent's responsibility not the hotel.

After hours looking at reviews we chose this one and were really pleased we did. Parking is so easy here and only 9 euro. It was very easy to get the 33 bus to the city and this took all the hassle out of trying to park in the centre. The Alhambra was just a 5 min drive away. The hotel itself was clean, modern with a great breakfast. Service was awesome with helpful receptionist and restaurant staff. We got a very good rate and would have been happy to pay twice as much. Don't be put off by the location as it is an advantage to be somewhere quieter but still just a 10 minute bus from the action.
We also had a massage and used the Arab baths. Very good value and a relaxing experience.
So overall, an excellent hotel with easy access to The Alhambra and the city.

We stayed 2 nights at the Alhambra Real Hotel over Easter 2013. The hotel is ten minutes bus ride outside Granada which is just what we expected. It has the advantage of a quiet location and is no problem to find which I believe is the case with the hotels in the centre of Granada. We drove straight to the hotel, parked the car in the underground car park and left it there until we were ready to leave.
The reception staff were very helpful giving us a town map and showing us there to get the bus (just outside the hotel) and they run about every ten minutes into town. The rooms in the hotel are very modern, clean and comfortable as is the hotel itself. We had breakfast which was buffet style and had everything you could think of, no queues and replenished frequently.
In fact a great hotel in a good location as long as you expect it to be a bus ride into town, we got a taxi back not expensive.
Free wi-fi too!

We stayed here because we wanted secure parking for the car.
The building is right on the road access to the Alhambra one way and the Sierra Nevada the other way.
It is large and block like.
The gym is in a box on the roof.
There are no good views except roads and buildings and hill.
We tried to get a before meal drink but the bar wa unmanned and we pressed a bell for service but no one appeared.
We went for dinner at 8 pm when it opened . We had a dinner and dessert with wine but were the only ones in the large restaurant for the entire hour. The noise of the waiter setting up the tables for breakfast did not help give any atmosphere.
There was an outside pool and large terrace areas so in the summer it would be able to accommodate lots of people.
With hindsight we would have preferred more character and central
