“Fantastic stay at Santa Isabel la Real”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a fantastic place to call home in Granada. We got a great deal on a room, and the amenities, quality of the room (especially the bed), and the excellent staff and complementary breakfast provided a value that far exceeded the price. The staff was extremely helpful in providing guidence on how to get to the main sights in Granada. The hotel's location is perfect for someone looking to explore Granada. It's within walking distance of the Moroccan area, close to a bus stop that takes you to the cathedral and Alhambra bus, and steps from Mirador San Nicolás, a lookout point that provides amazing views of the Alhambra.

We spent one night at this hotel in July. How I wish we could have stayed longer! The hotel is lovely and has such character. Our rooms were on the second floor, opening off the central courtyard. Both rooms were spotlessly clean and were of a very high standard. The hotel manages to combine the traditional aspects of the building with all the modern day requirements. As we were there in July, the air-conditioning was a must! The staff were so friendly and helpful. Thank you to Raquel for her advice on restuarants etc. Breakfast was very nice and I particularly enjoyed the homemade marmalade. The attention to detail made me feel that the owners obviously take great pride in their hotel. St Nicholas Square is a short walk away where the views of the Alhambra Palace are fantastic (especially in the evening). The walk down to the Plaza Nueva was quiet easy but I would recommend wearing shoes with a decent sole as the roads are pebbly. If you visit in the summer, I would recommend catching the bus for the return journey. The walk back up the hill in the heat was not quite so easy!! We definitely hope to stay here again.

This is a lovely hotel set in the old part of Granada. A short walk away is St Nicholas Square from where you can look over to the Alahambra Palace. There are also a number of restaurants close to this square. We were a party of 5 and had 3 rooms, all of which were a little different, but of a very good standard. They were clean, comfortable and quite spacious. Breakfast is served downstairs in a nice little breakfast room and breakfast is quite good. We would recommend this hotel most definitely.

Stayed in a lovely apartment (La Casita Del Corralon) with pleasant patio & spacious lounge & bedrooms. Had filling breakfasts in Santa Isabel la Real & got good advice from the friendly staff.
Albayzin is sleepy hill side area of Granada with GREAT views of The Alhambra easy 10 minute walk down to centre & cheap bus ride back (1.2 Euro per journey)
Our daughter (17) wasn't well when we got there, BUT we all had plenty of space & alternatives to do our own thing.
We managed to see The Alhambra (AMAZING) Basilica, Cathedral Churches, Lots of Strret Graffiti & even got down to the sea at Salobrena.
BRILLIANT Break with a lesson learnt ... IF offered return coach tickets BUY THEM ... all coaches back to Malaga were full & I had to fork out 130 Euros for a cab to drive 3 of us with hand-luggage from Granada to Malaga (to get Easy-Jet back to Gatwick)

We stayed here for four nights in July, and had a fabulous time. This hotel is a lovely, quiet establishment in the Albaycin (the old, Arabic quarter of Granada) and although situated on a hill, the walk to Granada's Plaza Nueva, the Alhambra and Sacromonte (for Flamenco shows) are all quite easy. We also walked back up the hill after visiting these areas, but the number 31 bus services the area from the town centre and runs with remarkable regularity. Our room was on the top floor and was quiet, with air conditioning and a modern, clean bathroom. It was serviced daily and there is a distinct smell of Sandalwood in the air from the polish they use on the wood in the courtyard.

The staff are very friendly - Lucia and Raquel were very friendly with excellent English. They were happy to book all of our day trips and excursions and give directions to local restaurants.

All in all an excellent hotel.

On a side note, parking is easy enough to find with a Sat Nav and costs 14 euros per day.

Room Tip: We were in Room 9 on the top floor, very quiet and with views of the Alhambra. Top floor is definite...

Although this hotel did not quite rate on a par with the top small hotels and B&Bs in which we stayed in Spain, it was very close. We had a large room facing an inner courtyard, and found it mostly quiet, although the neighbours were easily heard when they left their window open. The breakfast was good, with a decent choice. The staff were very helpful in directing us to a doctor on a holiday, as well as in providing directions and restaurant recommendations. There is a bus stop adjacent to the hotel (buses being the recommended mode of transportation), and some good restaurants close by. The hotel parking garage is only a few steps away. The hotel fortunately provides good driving directions, as otherwise it would be impossible to find it.

We stayed for 2 nights here during our tour of Andalucia.

the pluses:
- the location, in Albayzin, is spectacular
- the breakfast is good
- staff is friendly

the minus:
- our room was on the ground floor and not very comfortable: the main reason is that access to the hotel is only possible by calling the reception via intercom and we could hear constantly the sound of the doorbell and of the opening of the door (late in the evening and also in the morning)
- the breakfast room was basically in the cellar, not very appealing

i would highly recommend to the hotel to change the way it provides access to the hotel (or sound proof the rooms on the ground floor)

Room Tip: don't stay on the ground floor
