“Very Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2013 via mobile

Treated my parents to two days in Granada. Didn't know anything about this hotel but was really happy I based my decision on the reviews here. This is a beautiful hotel, very old world on the outside & modern inside (however a bit too contemporary for my taste). I can't praise the staff enough. We were very well looked after from the moment we arrived. Alberto kindly showed us around the facilities before taking us to our rooms. As this was a treat for my folks, I splurged a bit and reserved two suites. Our rooms were lovely, we didn't need anything extra. Location was good and not too far from nice bars and restaurants. The Alhambra was around a 25min walk.

I could certainly recommend this hotel.

Thanks again to all the great staff :-)

We were on a visit to see our daughter who is studying abroad in Granada. She had suggested this hotel as she walks by every day on her way to school and it is close to where she is staying. She could not have picked a better place! As my husband and I do not speak Spanish, and we were nervous about communicating, however our son, also travelling with us, is proficient. Upon our arrival (after 18 hours of travel) we were greeted at the front gate by a gentleman who was seeing guest off. When he realized that we did not speak the language, he immediately made us comfortable, had our bags brought in, showed us the amenities and then to our rooms. We had prepaid the rooms and so to our surprise and delight we were upgraded to suites. Beautiful rooms in the original building. Every staff member made us feel completely comfortable and were just so pleasant, professional and helpful.

We had a snack at the hotel restaurant shortly after we arrived. It was between lunch and dinnertime, but the gentleman who seated us was very kind in helping us. We also had dinner there one evening and again, the staff was just as pleasant and kind as they could be. The food was quite good also.

The hotel is in a great location as it so easy to walk to the shops, to get a bite to eat, to have drinks and tapas and to see sights like the Cathedral and the Royal Chapel. There are lovely plazas all around the city to just sit and enjoy the sunshine.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is travelling to Granada. It is quite possibly one of the nicest places we have ever stayed and the staff there makes it so.

We stayed in the modern stylish "all glass" rooms in the new building. Much of the style was impractical but visually stunning. Huge marble bathtub, but uncomfortable. You need to draw the curtains on the outside of the glass-curtained shower/bath compartment. The breakfast was excellent with a delicious buffet.

Dear Customer,

Many thanks you for your stay and words in Trip Advisor.

We are glad that your overall stay has been satisfactory.

This hotel could offer more practical rooms in the Palace with a lot of design touches, and rooms in the Alabaster building where design is the main point,
even as you mention sometimes design items have not always been thought to be practical but to create a visual impact. It is up to the guest to decide!

Thank you for mention our delicious breakfast and recomending us. We do appreciate it.

We encourage you to visit the rest of Hospes Hotels.

We have just stayed at this hotel in Granada (Nov 2013). We had originally booked and paid for two nights but our plans changed and they graciously agreed to change the booking and refund the extra night.

On arrival, we were upgraded to a suite and given an EU20 voucher for the spa (as part of a Reward programme). The room was large and the furniture modern. In fact, a little too modern for our taste, particularly given that the hotel is in a beautiful old building. The facilities in the suite were great, the beds comfortable and the toiletries excellent; better than in many five star hotels we have stayed in. The bathroom was beautiful with a separate shower and bath areas and a double sink.

We chose not to have breakfast at the hotel, but I did use the spa. The anti-stress massage was superb, but the jacuzzi pool was underwhelming. However, I did not appreciate that I was not able to apply the voucher I was given at check in towards the cost of the massage as apparently, the anti-stress massage was already at a special rate! This had not been explained to me when they gave me the voucher and it left a bad impression.

The location was good.. Very close to the city center and it is easy to walk to the places of interest around the city. The concierge did point out that it is best to take a txi to the AlBayazin to see a wonderful view of AlHamra, as it was uphill. We did that and then walked back down to the hotel.

All in all, a very nice hotel.

Dear Customer,

First of all to thank you for having chosen us as hotel in Granada.

We are glad to hear that the hotel full filled your expectations concerning space, facilities, commodities & services.

We agree our junior suites, suite, grand suite & presidencial suite have the extra space your are looking for during your holidays, excellent equipment and the best commodities, even compared with other hotels we could say so.

Concerning massage treatments in the Spa there are a great variety. You will find a main list of them where you could apply promotions, and also there is a short list of promotional ones where the discount voucher offered at reception does not apply. Sorry if we did not properly explain this to you.

We look forward you could come back to Granada and enjoy more time with us!

Yours Sincerely,

Marc Passola

We've stayed here for three nights; the experience couldn't have been better. The hotel is beautiful. One part of it is charmingly traditional, the other is stunningly contemporary (we've been staying in the latter). If you have a preference, it would be as well to let the management know in advance. The service is among the best we've encountered, characterised by quiet, smooth efficiency. All the staff are first rate, Alberto, who checked us in and arranged a tour for us, is a star. We were also given a bottle of excellent wine on arrival and again on departure, which is just one sign of the extra care taken by the nanagement. The dinner offered by the hotel restaurant is, admittedly, not particularly good and there is some peripheral or background noise from the surrounding streets. But the hotel restaurant breakfasts are excellent; and the background noise is the price you pay for being in the heart of any city.
If you're staying in Granada, there isn't a better place to stay than this.

The most expensive sleepless night ever...

If only the the developer of this 'so-called' 5 star hotel had paid as much attention to sound proofing as they have to gimmicky room designs...

Expensive, noisy, impractical...

We loved Granada but will stay elsewhere in future!

Excellent hotel, with a lot of heritage and refined interiors. Excellent customer service and the location was absolutely spot on for all Granada visits. The breakfast was enjoyable however it wasn't clear whether lattes/cappuccinos were included as some customers were getting them but others had the brewed one. I'd definitely recommend.
