“Ideal location, decent price”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

Hotel Puerta de las Granadas is not luxurious, but deserves its top rating: it is clean and comfortable, its location on the pedestrian street linking the Cathedral area and the Alhambra is ideal, and the English-speaking staff are friendly and helpful. Though there is a lot of pedestrian traffic out front, my street-facing room remained reasonably quiet at night. Breakfast is adequate, coffee is always on, and there is a small interior patio for relaxation.
If arriving by car, you’re advised to use the La Caleta parking garage on the main road into town from N and W (18 Euro per night), and then take a taxi, which costs only 5-6 Euro, to the hotel. But note: the hotel collects the 18 E., and you are supposed to present the stamped ticket to parking garage staff - if you just insert it in the machine upon exiting, it won't work, and you'll have to pay again in order to leave. (No prizes for surmising how I learned this.)

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for your opinion in Tripadvisor and your kind words. We are very grateful for your opinion about our Staff, which is and will keep on being one of our best assets.

We are really sorry about the incident with the parking ticket. Your opinion will help other guests for sure. Anyway, we are going to explain better the use of the parking ticket to our clients, to avoid this kind of incidents would happen again.

It will be our pleasure to host you again next time you visit Granada.

Best regards

The staff we met were all extremely helpful and friendly. I called earlier on the day we were arriving, asking if they could book us tickets for the Alhambra (after reading tickets were necessary to avoid lines). By the time we arrived at the hotel, we had reservations waiting for us.
We checked in and were given suggestions on restaurants and local sights on a map. (The restaurants we tried were great, too.) It's a cute, clean hotel in a quiet area near lots of shops and restaurants, and it's a nice stroll up the hill to the Alhambra. The buffet breakfast offered in the morning was great, too. (There was a good variety of yogurts, sandwich makings and whole fruit, too, in case you needed to grab stuff for a snack on the train.) They had A/C, WIFI, and an elevator (along with a friendly staff). What more could you want?

Room Tip: We chose the room with the view of the Alhambra. You do have to carry your bags up about 10 steps be...

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay in this hotel. Francisco made us very welcome and was helpful with directions and advice. Our room was comfortable and even had a view of a section of the Alhambra.

The location is excellent as it is close to the meeting point for the Alhambra tour and is also close to great tapas restaurants, the Cathedral, the lovely river walk and shops. The buffet breakfast was good and there is a laundry service and free wifi.

The perfect location especially if planning to visit Alhambra with plenty of shops nearby the hotel. The staff were extremely helpful. We also love spending time at its private terrace with free access to make our own tea and coffee. Felt very 'homely'.

Great location - especially if wishing to walk and experience the great sights of Granada. The hotel is just off the Plaza Nueva and minutes from the Alhambra entrance. Also close to the Barrios and bars, restaurants etc. And if shopping is your thing then the shops are just down the road.

The staff are great, very obliging and helpful. The rooms are small but then who wants to spend time in a hotel room in Granada?

This hotel places you in the ideal location for an overnight stay in Granada. You are within a five minute walk of the Alhambra and the cathedral, and you are right down the block from Plaza Nueva, home of some of the best tapas bars in the city. Even the cab driver that took us from the bus station to the hotel told us that the hotel was in the heart of his favorite part of the city. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, and the hotel provides access to two computers with free internet access. After reading some of the reviews posted on this website, I was slightly concerned about the potential size of the room. However, once we arrived at the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious it was. The hotel room was as large as our hotel room in Barcelona, and a good bit larger than our room in Madrid. The room was very clean, had a decent sized bathroom, and provided a quiet night's sleep both nights we stayed there. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Granada.

Room Tip: I recommend booking an exterior room. Based on the dimensions posted on their website, all of the e...
