Great location and beautiful hotel

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed May 28, 2019
We were in Granada for 5 nights and for the most part, loved the hotel. It was nicely located to the major sites, and restaurants.
The room was lovely, but a major problem for us was the very poor lighting in the bedroom. It was very difficult to read in the bedroom. The light in the bathroom was excellent. Also, there is no elevator, which may be a problem for some. It was fine for us, however.
The courtyard was very nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful. If they increased the lighting in the bedroom, I would have given them 5 stars.

Our family had three rooms during our stay in Granada. We were extremely satisfied with the character of the building, its location in the old part of the city and the rooms themselves. The staff were extremely helpful, including prompt repair of the air conditioner in one of the rooms. It is a small hotel in an old, historic building, clearly stating it is on a pedestrian street. Perhaps reviewers looking for a more modern experience should find a Holiday Inn somewhere outside of town. Our only suggestion regards room 317--noise from the street as well as early morning breakfast preparation made it a very poor location.

From the moment you step from the narrow medieval street through a massive wood door (which opens after you ring for admittance), you realize that this is no run-of-the-mill hotel. The building's former life as a palace gives it unique charm. Our room was spacious with wood rafters and two very large windows that we left open at night to catch the cool evening breezes. It was very quiet at night. The bathroom was modern, with good water pressure and drainage (these can be issues in centuries-old buildings, but not in this case). The location was perfect for exploring historic Granada. Staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful (you'll interact with them regularly, since the room key is attached to a fist-sized spiral-shaped piece of iron that can't comfortably be carried in pocket or purse--an ingenious way to get people to leave their key at the desk!) . This was a terrific little hotel!

Room tip: Room 307 was very nice

This hotel is in a great location, close to everything, but opens to a very sweet, quiet set of inner courtyards that make it feel very cozy and private. Our room was large and well-decorated, although the bath was very small. (Note: The bathroom door swings in and blocks everything. They actually could have done better with a door that swung outwards). The breakfast was very good and understandably crowded.

This is a charming hotel, near everything interesting in Granada, with courtyards and very nice staff. We were able to walk to the Alhambra, the Cathedral and the Sacramonte area very easily. The staff helped us book an evening of flamenco dancing, as well as helping us arrange transport back to the airport when it was time to leave. Be advised, that it's a bit difficult to find the hotel. We took the airport shuttle to the Cathedral stop, and got a taxi from there.

Although we only spent one night here, we loved the place. Room was fine and we enjoyed the coffee and sweets in the lobby area. Walking distance to the Alhambra and many shops and cafes. Note that the side street involves a climb of several stairs to access the hotel entrance
