“Luxury, peace and quiet in the big City”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

As our stay was for an Alhambra visit, there is no better place to reside. Beautifully quiet, especially after 6pm when all the visitors had departed. Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the Generalife gardens and with good space, an excellent bathroom and comfy beds, there was little more to want!
Breakfast was excellent too and included in our room rate of 195Euros (booked in August for our stay in November).
I have learnt from previous stays in Paradors, not to eat in (other than breakfast) - I am a bit of a foodie and it saddens me that the Spanish government don't see Parador food as an opportunity to show the best of Andalucian gastronomy.....we did grab a late lunch on arrival (for convenience) and it was poor - 40euros for 2 with a dreadful small bread roll of meats/tomato and a grim salad each (with a glass of cava each) - very very poor value......a taxi to town is only 5 euros, and there is a little bus too - 2 euros, so go out to eat!
The staff are quietly efficient but indeed are not overly friendly ( a pity as Spaniards are generally welcoming) as others have commented. It seems the rooms are variable - I asked for quiet, a view and twin beds and ours was excellent.....and good value.......number 302 I can recommend!
The location is unbeatable especially as taxis into the body of town are so cheap.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the gardens of the Generalife have good views and the upper floors may be quieter.

The hotel is somewhat old fashioned and maybe a bit overpriced (or we might have been unlucky paying 300 for a double), the rooms are small and so is the bed, but the hotel has a lot of charm, good service and is in a beautiful location (right in the Alhambra). We loved it!

We have just spent two nights in this Parador and it was lovely. It was quite magical to be staying in the midst of the Alhambra and the hotel has it's own historical tour.
Our room was very comfortable and quiet,we had very good buffet breakfast plus freshly cooked eggs and delicious meals in the restaurant on both evenings.
To visit the Alhambra make sure you book ahead as it is very popular and you cannot get a ticket on the day.
Enjoy!

Small unpleasant room with lift shaft jutting into it, hard small bed, one small pillow each, no nice touches, not a fluffy towel in sight, a kettle is provided with a few left over sachets of instant coffee, bathroom is dated and small. We could not see the palace or grounds from the hotel. The 70's/80's styling of the interior is bare and functional, no historical charm here, and none of the great modern design Spain is known for either. It feels a bit like an institution, a government building, communal sitting area is a corridor, with a couple of relics from its convent history placed incongruously at the edges. Dont worry about waking, its noisy. Breakfast quoted at €40 we declined. All topped off by unfriendly, abrupt, arrogant, unhelpful staff. You get the impression this hotel is existing off the back of its siting near to the Alhambra and the friendliness of the lovely guests, trying to be positive about it. Nice cobbled path though leads us hurriedly away from this overpriced, motel style travesty,

Room Tip: Avoid Parador Granada, you can still wander around the Alhambra at night without staying at this hot...

We spent three nights here recently and could not praise it enough. We booked it a few months ago and the english speaking staff were great in processing the booking and dealing with questions we had before we arrived.

We had a lovely room 302 , which was reached up three flights of stairs. There is a lift to floor 2 and then you have to walk up about 10 steps to get to the room. The lift is quite small, we had to send up our cases and then follow by using the stairs but that was no issue.

The staff: the receptionists, waitressing staff and the lady who looked after our room were very friendly and helpful and even though we didnt speak much Spanish they were very courteous with our efforts when we had a go.

The room was of a good size, with excellent double glazing and a lovely view over the gardens. There was a TV, a safety deposity box, bathrobes and slippers and all the other items you would expect. The room was very clean and the wardrobe space was more than enough.

The location was perfect for visiting the Alhambra, we spent 2 days and 1 night looking round as we wanted enough time to see everything. It was great just being able to leave our room and just saunter for a couple of minutes to get to where we were going. The taxi from town was 5 euros and the little buses where 1 euro and 20 cents and they ran very frequently.

There was a cafe, a terrace and a restaurant. We were expecting the meals to be expensive but they were not. For example a goats cheese and quince jelly sandwich which comprised a baguette sliced open - so in effect 2 sandwiches were only 7 euroes. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was really good. The breakfasts were excellent, usual continental choices but Iberian style ham, smoked salmon, little cakes, lots of fruit etc and lots of food suitable for people with a Gluten Intolerance.

Definately worth the treat !

Room Tip: Room 302 was very quiet and very scenic

Location is unbeatable, rooms are very modern (unlike some of the other paradors), but the staff could be friendlier and the signage for vehicular access is poor. Nevertheless, the experience is magical, and the ability to walk around the Alhambra neighborhood at night without the throngs of tourist is priceless.

This Parador is definitely the way to see the Alhambra. It provides an oasis of calm from the daytime tourist hordes flocking to indulge in this truly astonishing national, historical site. The service throughout the Parador was faultless, with staff being exceptionally helpful and polite. Our room, though small, was very comfortable and had the most wonderful views over to the Generalife and Albayzin. We didn't feel the need to eat out as the food in the restaurant and on the terrace was exceptional. However, like guests before us, finding our way into the Parador was a bit of a challenge as the actual sign is very discreet. It would have been helpful to know that the entrance is via the barrier by the taxi rank on the right as you drive parallel to the Alhambra Car Park.
