“Poor access for car drivers”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2013

Don't drive to Granada take a train or bus this is not a driver friendly city there are so many one way and restricted access streets it's a nightmare to find your way around, you'll probably end up like us having to leave your car in an underground car park at €22.50 a day.
This hotel is right in the restricted pedestrian zone, up an alley and up steps you can't drive to it although a cab can get you to Plaza Nueva 200m away. Some reviews say its well placed, but I didn't think so.
Our room had a view of the side alley and was always dark and dingy. The furniture was old and mismatched and the bed was hard. Yes there was plenty of hot water but our shower door didn't have a lower seal so the water ran out over the bathroom floor. Although the TV set was amazing I haven't seen a colour portable with a 15" screen for about 25 years I don't know how they've kept it going as it's practically an antique.
The only good thing about this hotel was the staff who were very helpful, efficient and friendly - full marks to them.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room number one, the other rooms look better in the photos

This place is the 'real deal'. Oozes Granada charm. There are fragments of original frescos on the wall. A perfect location in the old city, up from the main square and down from Alhambra.
Really helpful staff and good breakfasts.
Disastrous to approach by private car. Our current model GPS couldn't cope with the old city location and turned out you need special permission to enter with a private car. After pleading, Reception were able to guide us in to drop out luggage and then point us to a parking station a couple of km away. If you are travelling by car, suggest call Reception for the location of the Parking Station with which they have a 'deal' (it saved us E20 a night) and cab it from there.

Room Tip: We had a large airy room, fronting the quiet courtyard (suggest you ask for one of these).

First, the cons, since they are outweighed by the pros:
-very poor to nonexistent wifi. Stand in the third chair at the middle table and raise your left foot a bit to get 3 bars.
-truly, truly the hardest mattress on the planet.
-driving to this location may produce aneurysm. Don't do it. Park at plaza triunfo and take taxi. Hotel partially reimburses.

Pros:
-excellent, efficient and friendly service. Very helpful and patient.
-lovely lobby and rooms
-fabulous location along river at foot of Alhambra and in old town (ring and they buzz you in)
-while the mattresses here are remarkably miserable, the marble tub and separate shower with SUPER hot water will cure most of the damage that the horrific mattresses cause.
- pleasant tea and breakfast service

The overall appearance, lovely staff and excellent location make this place a good deal. Just have some ibuprofen on hand after a night or two on that mattress.

We had a short trip to Granada in Feb. So it was really crisply cold at night.
We loved the hotel because it was a fusion between medieval and modern, retaining its historic features, including restored medieval murals, alongside lovely contemporary art work.
This hotel offers more than bland comfort. So be prepared to dress up warm and soak up the culture and history that is Granada.

This traditional, very old hotel oozes charm, and is fantastic for sightseeing, positioned in a traffic restricted area directly under the Alhambra. You can easily walk (but note that Granada is very hilly - so you need to be fit!) to all of Granada's many wonderful attractions - however be warned it is not car friendly, so if you arrive by car, park in one of the main underground carparks and get a cab to the hotel - you cannot get a car up to the hotel but cabs can gain access. I tried in vain to find the hotel with Tom Tom's help - but all I got was an hour of frustration and a ticket for driving in a restricted area!! They should make this clear on the website - after driving round in circles I phoned and was given this excellent advice!

The hotel itself is off a narrow cobbled street, up steps into a small courtyard and you enter through old oak doors into a minstels style gallery - charming. The reception staff are very helpful and the breakfast was excellent.

Ideal for sightseeing and good value - but forget the car!

Lovely hotel in the old part of Granada with a great view of the Alhambra from the bedroom window. Perfect location. Very atmospheric building and cute moorish style decor. Staff very friendly and very helpful in booking Alhambra tickets.

I loved the time I spent on Palacio Santa Ines!
They made my dream come true by giving me a room with Allambra's view.
What a magic view!
The hotel is located near many attarctions. Walking distance to Allambra, restaurants, Albaicin, etc.
Thank you very much!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view to Allambra
