Great place, wonderful atmosphere and perfectly located for Alhambra. Staff were all really helpful. If you have a car there is just one problem - getting to it. You need to let them know your car registration as you are in a restricted area (which is no problem) but there was also a bollard controlled entrance to get through for that part of the city. My spanish is not brilliant and the guy on the other end of the speaker system was being difficult, but anyway we got in although somewhat uptight and frustrated. We came along Plaza Sta Ana and then Carrera del Darro, I think if you come along Cuesta del Chapiz from the Sacromonte you might be better. Anyway don't let this put you off, it really is a lovely place to stay.

This hotel is an absolute treasure. As is the town of Grenada. What is totally sad is the effect tourism has had on this historic place. The same and food, the same junk shops, the same global brands as everywhere else.

Please, if you are coming here, consider Hotel Morisca over the other better know hotels - you will be glad you did.

But beware - do NOT eat at any of the restaurants offering views of the Halambra - I doubt if any of them have a Spaniard in the kitchen! Yiu'll be served Portuguese wine not Spanish because it's cheaper...and their idea of Paella, well, you could cook better yourself as long as you can boil rice.

So, stay at the Hotel Morisca - room 15 if you can get it - but be prepared to walk a distance for your meals into a less obviously touristy part of town.

Room Tip: Room 15 is the highest in the beautifully renovated old building and has views of the Alhambra and no neighbors to disturb you.

Both rooms were excellent , air con very effective and rooms came equipped with TV ,hair dryer, soaps shampoo etc. . The 3 rotating reception staff were very courtious , and extreamly helpful ,booking flamenco , reteraunts and taxis from their local knowledge . It is ideally placed just under the Alhambra . It has it's own on street parking in the street outside which is only for the residents ,so once parked no need to worry about the car . One of the things we remarked on was the amount of tourists dragging suitcases through the town centre to various hotels without parking . A 10 minute walk to Plaza Nuevo past many paces of interest . 5 min uphill to the Gypsy Quater for Flamenco . A few resteraunts offering reasonable priced food nearby and a 4 euro taxi ride to some excellent reccomended ones further afield . The only two things I would criticize is the coffee and tea making facilities in the room which has tiny cups not worth aking a cuppa in , and the garden area which needs walls painting as the are bare concrete

Room Tip: Rooms 1 and 2 on ground floor

All the positive reviews are correct, room condition was excellent and nice en-suite. Beautiful courtyard within the hotel and the staff were very helpful. Parking free though make sure you call ahead with registration number in case you have to drive in restricted area. According to our (brilliant) Segway tour guide, the hotel used to be a house lived in by Muslims who had converted to Christianity when the Christians took over.
Easy access to the path to the alhambra which is just over the road. It is also within reach of the older, albaicin quarter of town which must be visited.
Would recommend this to everyone, excellent value for money.

This hotel is gorgeous - the hotel itself and our room.

The location is good, within walking distance to everything, but at the same time, I felt like we were a little further out, from the Plaza Nueva area. But, here, you are close to the Plaza

We used our GPS to get us there and it took us from above rather than the main road below...therefore, we didn't have to punch in the code/use the call box. ;) Had no problems getting there. There was FREE (amazing considering what we paid everywhere else!) parking right in front of the hotel door.

We found breakfast to be good, but too pricey. We ate there one day, but ventured out other days.

The hotel can make reservations for you to go to the gypsy flamenco shows nearby and for Hammam Al Andalus. They actually give you the tickets at the hotel and you pay when you leave. Very convenient.
