You need to travel a littlle distance by bus to get to the Monasterio however the services are frequent and that it easy. It was a beautiful old chiurch recommended to us by Jose at the Hotel Las Almenas, which was very good advice. It had some of the most fantastic decorations and artwork of any cathedral or basillica that we visited. Well worth a couple of hours.

Although the interior was not to my liking I am glad I took the 30 bus out to the monastery. The inside of the church is highly decorated and rather overpowering but the rest of the place was plainer. There are many religious paintings in the old refectory.

From outside, one can't imagine how it looks inside with all its painting, the marbles, jasper, and porphyry. There is a cross paining high on the wall in one room. One can easily mistake it as a real wooden cross.

As in any church visit, one should understand its history and religion to appreciate more. In this case, you should learn about Carthusian. Unfortunately, one cannot take photo and video inside to capture how grand (sometimes a bit too much) it is here.

If you have a week or so in Granada then visit here, I would not put this in my top ten things to do. You can get there by bus and it costs 4 euros to go in.

When you consider how marvellous many of the attractions in Granada this left me underwhelmed. There are a number of rooms with huge religious paintings that for me blend into one after a while. The church is small and the architectural style is totally over the top which some people like but for me it didn't do much at all. All in all I can't see why people enthuse over this place.
