“comfortable beds”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

We planned to stop in Granada on our way to Morocco, but it was during Easter week and the most highly recommended places in our price range were booked. This hotel was a little more expensive, and not in the Albayzin, where had hoped to stay, but we really enjoyed our stay. It's close to the cathedral, near lots of restaurants and stores, an easy bus ride to the train station, and a nice walk for good walkers to the Albayzin and the Alhambra. Our room, with two queen beds, was pleasant, clean and bright, with super comfortable beds and a huge, sparkling bathroom. The staff was very helpful. Breakfast didn't look that promising, but there are lots of places to get breakfast nearby. Coming home cold and wet from the Alhambra night tour, we appreciated the complimentary tea available in the lounge off the lobby.

We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights. Functional with a good location but not much to say about the hotel. It feels v claustrophobic. The rooms are a bit tiny and overall the hotel has a tired look. The restaurant had a strange smell and was not an inviting place....we did not eat there. The breakfast spread was limited.

Central location is the only good thing going for this hotel. There might be other alternatives....

Hotel Dauro II is located at the end of a busy restaurant and bar street, right outside the main city center (shops and restaurants). Everything is within walking distance, including Alhambra – about 20 minutes’ walk away.

The room was a typical 3 star – covering the basic requirements including a free safe in the room. We choose this hotel partly because of some reviews saying that the beds were very comfortable. This turned out to be a great disappointment; Nothing but old, ordinary, fairly uncomfortable spring mattresses.

The breakfast was rather basic and limited, but OK.

For visiting the Alhambra, Cathedral, Gypsy quarter (Albaicin), Tapas bars route and plenty of other things, you couldn't be better placed at this hotel - and all within walking distance.
At first it was a bit difficult to find as it is in a little alleyway that is full of tapas bars. You'd think that would make it noisy, but that is far from the truth, it just adds to the wonderful atmosphere.
We had a room that was almost in the attic - 4th floor. It was one of the only rooms with a balcony (although it had quite a high wall) there were outstanding views of the Alhambra, Granada roof tops view and also the Sierra Nevada snowcap...breathtaking!
The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms were on the small side but very clean and quiet. The beds - extremely comfortable.
Breakfast:so long as you give your room number to the waiter as soon as you go in (had a slight confusion there) there is plenty of choice, bread, rolls, pastries/cakes, cereal, fresh fruit, tortilla, scrambled eggs and bacon, fruit juice, tea, coffee and chocolate.
If you arrive in Granada at the bus station, one local bus will take you to the Cathedral stop for about 1.30 Euros and then you walk about five minutes around the corner to the hotel. Much cheaper than a taxi.
If you are driving to this hotel the Semana Santa week you could have troubles as the adjacent road (something Gavinet) has all the chairs for the processions and you have to go around a one-way system. Because of this make sure you check the processions times. This year it was Sunday 24th March and roads were shut from lunch time.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly use it again.

Room Tip: Ask for the 4th Floor room with a balcony.

When you first approach the hotel you may have doubts whether you booked the right place. The rooms are basic, little small but comfortable nonetheless. The bathroom was a really good size for the room it was attached to, so no worries there. Want extra pillows of varying softness - find them in your room at the top of the wardrobe. Everything you need for a good rest is there and that should really just be the consideration as you would love the proximity this hotel has to the sights of Granada. Walking distance to the Cathedral and the market. Grab a minibus to the Alhambra for less than 2 euros per person in front of the cathedral - they run in half hour time slots (if I remember right). Plenty of restaurants around of varying price ranges - there's a little patisserie hidden between the restaurants behind the hotel- stop by for some good crepes and coffee. The restaurant in the hotel was very friendly - We had a sudden attack of the late night munchies in our room and wanted to grab something quick just as they were closing. They made us 2 huge sandwiches and plated them properly like they would at the restaurant even when all we were expecting was for it to be rolled up as a takeaway.
Reception booked us a taxi for an early morning flight - wasn't sure if it was a premium charge by the taxi company but we paid 30 euros for the ride when we saw other taxis marking the fare at 20 euros - Should've checked rates at the reception when we booked!

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and could not fault it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good central location with lots of tapas bars outside and nearby good restaurants. It is not normal in Spain to have tea/coffee making in rooms but to be able to make a cup in the lounge just off of reception was much appreciated. The room was very clean and large bathroom, not much of a view though. I felt very comfortable staying at this hotel and would go back.. My one little comment would be please replace hairdryers for more modern ones.
