I studied in Granada some years ago and then got to know Francisco (the owner of La Oliva) trough gastronomy classes at the university. This summer we came back to beautiful Granada and now La Oliva offers tastings in a wine cellar below a hotel centrally located in Granada. The food and wine at the tastings are really good and Francisco knows so much about each product. It is needed to make a reservation. At a nearby location there is also a shop from the same owner where he sells local wines, ham, etc.

As much has the Alhambra is on your must do list of sights, as of course it should be, this dining event is an absolute essential experience of Granada dining.

(If you have even been to Aruba , think "two fools and a bull" at less than half the cost)

Earlier reviewers have accurately described just how good it is and what wonderful value it delivers at less than 40 euros including drinks.

Bookings are essential, bring cash and don't make the mistake we did of being late!

This was our second experience at Francisco's tasting. Our first was at his shop last year and we enjoyed it so much that we brought our friends from Australia there. The tastings are now held at a hotel and different things were served compared to our first time but the experience was as excellent as before. Our friends enjoyed it thoroughly and needless to say, so did we!

Francisco is a wonderful host and his descriptions of the food were invaluable to the dining experience. The atmosphere was warm, friendly, and intimate. Most importantly, everything we were served was absolutely delicious. One of the most memorable meals of my life!

The barman was very helpful and welcoming explaining each wine available by the glass. We chose a free tapas from the short menu with each glass of wine. La Oliva opens earlier than most other tapas bars and has a good atmosphere.
