“A fun bus ride”

It was fun riding with the bus, which took us all around Granada. They also provide you with an audio guide available in many languages giving information about the city's main attractions. Despite the fact that the most beautiful parts of Granada are pedestrian and cant be reached by the bus, we had fun and enjoyed the ride.

Expensive, although the ticket does last two days and there is another route going further from the city. Of the three earphones supplied one worked, one worked one ear, and one didn't work at all. The commentary came on at random points, repeating itself twice or three times. When you finally got to hear it, Ii was one of those unhelpful overheated under factually based commentaries "when you hear the beat of the flamenco your heart will be transported etc etc"The tour served to emphasize that Granada's attractions are largely concentrated in two sites; the Alhambra area and by the #1 bus stop. Most of the modern area is at best featureless, at worst hideous. Service bus and on foot is best.

Updates with photos--this was the best tour we did on our first trip to Granada. It was a pleasant get away from the city and we were able to see small village life in three different locations. Each had unique character and charm. The tour was educational and fun. Highly recommend!

Granada Colonial Homes Tours - a not for profit organization run by volunteer docents which raises money for their library by asking for donations of 15 US dollars per person is a great way to see the INSIDE of a number of wonderfully restored colonial homes.

The tour is given every Tuesday morning at 10 at and starts from the Ole Boutique on Calle Calzada which is kitty corner from the back of the Cathadral. Their phone number is 2552 - 6461

On our tour we especially enjoyed listening to interesting info not only about the four homes we were able to see, but to learn a bit about the expat owners who so lovingly have restored or renovated them.

Amy Bushnell was the prinicipal guide/docent for our tour. She was very knowledgeable and very personable. It was very interesting also hearing her tell us why she decided to first come and visit Granada repeatedly and then finally move to Granada full time about 5 years ago. There is a very large and growing American and Canadian expat community .

We would highly recommend this walking tour which takes about an hour and a half to anyone who enjoys seeing INSIDE. Going on the tour also helps a very worthwhile chairty.
