The hotel is in a great location! There are lots of tapas bars, restaurants and shops close by.

All of the tourist sites are nearby so you can walk everywhere if you like.

The room itself was spacious and clean.

Our only complaint is that we had to wait 30 minutes to be checked in after a long days travel from Valencia. This was due to the only reception staff member being held up by another guest asking for tourist information.

It didn't make us feel very welcomed as we were not even acknowledged until they finished serving the other guest.

Other than this we really enjoyed our stay in the hotel!

Dear Stiffylicious,

First of all, thank you for choosing Hotel Monjas del Carmen.
We are located right in the city centre, so to reach us by car it is not as simple as we would like. Hoteliers are speaking with the town hall to find the best solutions to make life easier to our guests and visitor of Granada.
We hope to see you again.
Best regards

Located at the end of a short cul-de-sac, just steps from Granada's main street, this boutique hotel delivers a muy grande bang for the Euro. Looking deceptively banal from outside it features a super-friendly staff and very comfortable accommodations in modern, sound-proofed and well appointed (albeit somewhat tight by US standards) rooms. The plumbing is superior, ditto the bedding, the wi-fi works, the cleanliness is exemplary, the continental breakfast adequate. Best of all is the location. It's a short walk to all the sights, except for the magnificent hilltop Alhambra gardens and palaces. HOWEVER, the frequent city jitney that travels every 10 or so minutes to the end of its line at the palace's main gate has a well-marked stop just across the hotel's rear entrance... which doubles as the main entrance to a lively bar and restaurant that doubles as the breakfast room in the morning. In a nutshell: great value, perfect location.

We stayed in an apt run by the Hotel, located in the Albaicin neighborhood, and it was great! An excellent value for the money. You book directly thru' the hotel but the price was about 1/2! You can also park at the hotel [but there is a €22 charge per night.] We were a group of 4, family members, and this was perfect for us as you do have to walk thru' the bedroom to get to the bathroom. The apt had one bedroom and a pull-out couch in the family room which was VERY comfortable. The kitchen was equipped with a microwave and all the essentials needed. They even provided a box of juice, large bottle of water, coffee, tea and some muffins. Additionally, they provided shampoo and shower gel, and dish soap. The bath towels were very large and very nice!

The place was overall clean, just needed a little sweeping in the main room, but the kitchen and bathroom were immaculate. We had views of the Alhambra as we were in the third floor apt and on a hill. It was gorgeous. Once you park at the hotel, you walk to the apt. They give you a map, however it still was a bit tricky even tho' they included pictures of where to turn! Some of the landmarks look a bit different now from when the pictures were taken. It's about a 10 min. walk. Not bad.

Initially we had a few issues with the hot water, but once everything was sorted out we really enjoyed our stay and being able to eat breakfast and/or a late night supper in our apt. They provided free wifi and we could communicate with the hotel reception via internet and they were always very prompt with their response. Using the phone would have cost € so we avoided that.

My only recommendation is that the staff maybe provide an information sheet in the apt. with how the hot water works, how the radiators work, the airconditioning, etc., just to avoid any confusion.

The location of the apt was great for exploring the Albaicin, as we were located in the heart of it!!! Only about 10 min walk to Plaza Nueva, and about 5 min. to the Paseo del Padre Majón, where there is a large plaza and places to eat, great views of the Alhambra.

Dear Karkar51, thank you for your comment and the time spent to recommending us. Regarding the problems with the central heating and hot water, I would like to inform you all , that the apartments are brand new so we have few unexpected problems when the temperatures felt so quick, now everything is sorted.

The hotel appealed on many many levels. First of all, the reception staff. Just lovely! You were greeted with the most friendly and helpful staff in all of Spain. A special thank you to Anna who was at the reception the night that we arrived.

Secondly, the location. While it was not the easiest place to find (it is kind of set off from the main road, without much signage, and not many people seem to have heard of it), once there you are not far from much. In fact, it is en route to the Alhambra from the main city, and kind of between the two worlds. So you can easily explore a lot of different places on foot.

We had something like the express breakfast at the hotel several times - it was reasonably priced and pretty good.

Coming to the rooms - you couldn't ask for anything more. Spacious, clean, modern decor and a very fresh feeling to the entire place.

All in all, a beautiful boutique hotel one should definitely stay in!

This boutique hotel was fantastic. The reception staff were very friendly and efficient. They emailed me a few days before our arrival with detailed instructions on how to get to the hotel. The location of the hotel was incredible. It's so central to all the key attractions, but set back from the main road. Room fittings and design was also impeccable. Would definitely recommend!

After a noisy night above the bar the staff was very accommodating and moved us to a quiet room up front...As I said in my previod review this is a good place and everyone here -- even the waiters in the restsurant -- are great.

like all boutique hotels it has its quirks. The biggest problem for us was that the air conditioning does not work in fall and winter. As a staff member explained -- either the entire hotel must be heated, or the entire hotel must be air conditioned. This was a problem for us because we had one of the rooms right over the very noisy bar and restsurant. The atmosphere there may be charming but not when you want to shut the windows and shut out the volume but can't because otherwise the room gets hot. Put a damper on our enthusiasm for the location.
