“Interesting museum in the Palace of Carlos V”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

The museum of the Alhambra is situated in the ground floor of the Palacio de Carlos V. It's spread over seven halls and is a fine collection of Spanish-Moorish Art in general and of Nasrid Art in particular.
Not a popular place for the hordes of tourists so you will be able to enjoy the exhibits all the more. Take some time and visit this excellent museum.

“Tips for an easier visit...”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Prebook your tickets through Ticketmaster (print them) or ask your accommodation to book them. Then go at opening time. This way you shouldn't need to queue in the heat with lots of people. When prebooking you must specify the time you want to visit the palaces inside the complex. Choose the earliest time because hundreds of people are all booked into the same time (one group every half hour) so everyone still queues. In the morning the queue area is shaded and cool but in the afternoon it's in the sun and extremely hot. You could walk to the Alhambra but if it's hot there's a red van/bus that is only a couple of Euros form the old town. The kiosk near the palaces is reasonably priced - €3.50 for a sandwich. There are drinking fountains - bring a bottle. The Generalife is an awesome spot to take pictures of the palaces from as it looks down the hill toward them. The art gallery there is free for EU citizens and €1 for everyone else. €1 is cheap but it was so small we didn't think it was really worth viewing if you're short on time. Allow 2-5 hours for your visit.

“Nice but not fantastic”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

Having made time to see this, I was surprised how uninspiring the palace was - admittedly beautiful on first viewing but very samey throughout. The grounds were much better and there were some real gems in the garden rooms. Beware, if queuing for entry to the palace make sure you have sun protection. There is little shade and it can get very hot. Not my favourite place but worth a visit for the views from the grounds

“Stunning”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

Amazing place to visit but in summer you must plan ahead and go early! Buy your tickets before you go and plan your timed visit to the Nasrid Palace early otherwise it gets too hot to enjoy. Take water with you, there are a few drinking water fountains to refill, that's all. Don't book a tour (they all seemed to be rushed through), just buy a guide book locally and read up all about it the day before. Amazing, stunning place, lovely plants & gardens too.
