Hotel Alhambra Palace

The Alhambra Palace Hotel exceeded our expectations. It is an elegant hotel with large modern rooms. The door-size window opens with a superb view of Granada below. The location is convenient for walking to the Alhambra or taking the mini-bus into town. We usually go with the predictability of chain hotels, but this is one special hotel. We had a twin room, which we were told was larger than a king. It was large enough for a cot if needed. The architecture and decor give the impression the hotel is just an extension of the Alhambra. This would be my only choice for Granada.

We stayed twice recently in this hotel - we loved the decor in the public rooms - wonderful arabic lacework in STONE, brightly coloured tiles, marble and wood -all so harmonious.
Pleasant rooms with lovely views over the city.
The staff were friendly and professional - good buffet breakfast.
A short walk to the entrance to the Alhambra and a lovely walk through the woods to the centre of Granada, passing some local commerce including two or three shops making guitars. Take the Microbus back to the hotel - stops outside the cathedral - runs frequently and costs 1Euro 20 per journey. An excellent choice of hotel.

If you came to Granada to see the Alhambra (who doesn't?) this is the place to be. The Alhambra is about a 5 minutes walk up the hill from the hotel and the city is about a 10 minute walk down the hill. The hotel, a moorish gem, is situated on a hill overlooking the city and offers wonderful views. If you are without a car, there is a convenient mini bus service from the city center that will drop you off right in front of the hotel which lets you avoid the steep climb. The hotel itself is charming and full of moorish influences. Staff are very pleasant. We had 2 rooms side by side. Both were recently decorated and were very generous in size with huge bathrooms. We ate at the hotel on New Years' eve and found the food to be very good, if a bit pricey. The hotel breakfast was great, lots of choices and very tasty. Splurge and make this your Granada hotel.

From the moment we got to Granada and saw the snow capped mountains the stay was excellent.
We booked at short notice for New Years Eve - we enjoed it so much we extended our stay!
Gorgeous old building, minutes to the Alhambra Palace, Castles and all there is to discover. Lovely staff - VERY helpful from the maid service to wait service and all in between.
Sitting in the open bar over looking Granada and the Snow capped Sierra Nevada - its a great base for skiiers, hisory buffs, familes - the lot!

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Alhambra palace Hotel in Granada. Found the hotel very comfortable and clean and had a spacious room with a balcony overlooking the snow covered peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the City of Granada.
Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice although the staff were a little slow in clearing the used plates etc.from our table.
Within walking distance of theAlhambra and the centre of town through an avenue of trees. Very quiet part of Granada and no problems with car parking.

Back from a long weekend with friends at the palace. Overall we were very satisfied by the hotel & service. The location is magical & the views from the bar terrace (the sun shone 2 days!!) are unforgettable. Nice to stroll up to the real Palace (do pre book), and the little buses are cheap, regular and fun to go into town, if you dont fancy the steep walk.
Would we go again? Yes. Any real issues? No.
Cheers

We visited Granada primarily to see the Alhambra. This hotel is adjacent to the park surrounding the site and an easy walk for the visit. It was the right place for us. For those who are interested in seeing more than the Alhambra, the hotel is outside of town, and although you can walk to and from, the hotel sits on a hill above the city, which is a bit of a climb. There is bus service to the area, however. Although modernized, the facility on the inside, reminds me of a grand old hotel. It is decorated with a Moorish theme, which is fitting to the site and I found delightful; not at all like a theme park. Our bedroom and the bathroom were the same size, which is to say a very small bedroom and an average size bath. Both were very clean and usable. What made up for the smallness of the bedroom was the view. We were on the side towards town and had a small balcony/walkway outside our room; not meant for those with fear of heights. The view, both day and night, was lovely and the breezes through the open window were adequate without the use of air conditioning. Not unpleasantly, you could hear voices drifting up from the neighborhood below. The view from the bar is amazing; town and the snow cap of the Sierra Nevadas with birds constantly circling nearby. The drinks were good, as were the ever present almonds. Lunch here was very good and service was attentive. The breakfast buffet was very good, fresh fruit being the highlight. If I returned to Granada I would stay here.
