Obviously one reason to visit Granada is the world famous Alhambra. You need to buy your tickets well in advance, as the UNESCO World Heritage site restricts the amount of daily visitors. Use the Ticketmaster section on the Alhambra website, which saves you at least one hour waiting in line on site.

Your first great Alhambra experience will be passing the waiting lines to the Ticketmaster vending machines, which cough up your tickets when you insert the credit card you pre-ordered them with. A;hambra has a rather confusing ticket plan, so be sure to buy the right tickets, the ones that include entrance to its main attraction: the Nasrid Palace. Note as well that you buy tickets for a specific entry time. Do not miss your slot as you will be refused entrance.
When you consider a visit to Granada because of the Alhambra, look at the Granada Parador Hotel, which is conveniently located on the premises.

Amazing, something out of this world!! We chose an organised tour from Malaga and were not disappointed The bus trip is a little more than 2 hours with a 20 mins break after the first hour.

We were divided into groups according to language and off we went with our local guide for a really enjoyable and informative tour of the marvellous Fortress and gardens of the moorish Kings.

If you are in Malaga or anywhere in Andalusia, Granada is a must see place. Don't miss it. You won't regret it!!!

Being the number one attraction in Spain speaks for itself. All the hype and anticipation were not in vain as I remain in awe at this amazing Andalucian experience.

One can only imagine the splendour back in the day at this most mesmerising architectural marvel, geometrically built with the ubiquitous sound of flowing waters, opulent rugs, colourful mosaics, lush gardens and exquisite Arabic calligraphy glorifying the oneness of the Almighty...it really makes me proud to be a Muslim, with all the negative media in today's times.

A step back in time when nations were once tolerant and in a blink of an eye all the splendour was lost, marking the beginning of the expedition of Columbus to "America" at the hands of Isabella and Spanish Inquisition.

For me, the Alhambra represents so much....at the crossroads of history and the rise and fall of Islam in Europe and all the good that was brought to West by the visionary Muslims of that era. It is unbelievable to think that this was almost forgotten in the annals of history had it not been for Washington Irving who rediscovered the beautiful red palace, simple on the outside but most amazing on the inside.

A must visit and one that will linger in the deep recesses of my mind for a long time. Book your tickets way in advance, take a guide, do some homework and prepare for an inspiring trip.
