We stayed for two nights at El Granado in an en suite double room. The room was fairly small but sufficient and clean. The bathroom was spotless and looked as though it had been refurbished recently. The walls were paper thin though and we could hear every word being said in the room next door. Also, even though the hotel is down a very narrow side street there was a lot of noise from drunken student types until the early morning both nights.

The host who greeted us was friendly and took the time to sit down with us to explain Granada, its sights and what to avoid. He also helped us locate a small local bar performing flamenco that evening, which we thoroughly enjoyed and was authentic.

We paid just £36 a night for the room and I would say it was very good value. We also used the WiFi which is accessible in the common room (signal not strong enough to access from the bedroom). The breakfast offering was a little disappointing and you had to wash up after yourself but I guess you get what you pay for!

Thank you for your feedback when you stayed with us some time ago. It has helped the El Granado team to improve to the standards we now maintain. The WI FI is available on every floor of our historical building and the breakfast is now a wholesome continental of cereals, breads, meat, cheese and of course coffee. We would recommend on your next stay with us to choose the ground floor studio apartment which is bigger than the double rooms and only slightly more expensive.

Highly recommend this hotel/hostel. We stayed in the two-person studio, and it was excellent value for money. It's situated inside a beautiful old building, and is very well kept and cleaned. The staff are very helpful and speak English. The free breakfast was also very good.

Shopping and the Alhambra are walking distance.

This was a very comfortable stay, and was a great alternative to a traditional hotel.

i stayed here on Oct 16 and 17. Personally i love the apartment, the cozy cafe where guest hang out to watch tv, movies, surfing the net, get to know other travellers and sharing tips on visiting tourist attraction places such as Alhambra etc.

As a budget traveller, i would highly recommended El Granado to my friends with a small family to stay in the apartment. Suitable for a couple with 2 kids!!!

To Frugile (not sure if i spell your name correctly) and Fredrik of El Granado, thank you for everything! We'll be back! :)

I stayed at El Granado with my boyfriend and his parents in the two roomed apartment. I normally wouldn't choose hostel accommodation for my parents but as it was a private apartment and looked nice on the website I thought we would try it out.

The apartment was located on the top floor up a couple of flights of stairs. It had two bedrooms with double beds, a kitchen with a dining table and a bathroom off one of the bedrooms. You had to go through one bedroom to get to the next. The place was very clean, tidy and presented nicely.

Because it was the middle of summer 40 plus degrees and located on the top floor with no roof insulation, it was VERY hot (almost unbearable) There was only one fan in the room. After 3 separate discussions with various staff members, and being told only one fan per room (ignoring the fact we were paying double price for a 2 roomed apartment) we finally got a second fan. It was still too hot for my liking even with a fan and the windows/doors open. I wouldn't recommend staying in the apartment in the middle of summer without aircon. I think it would be nice in autumn/spring.

Other than that incident the staff were very friendly and helpful on informing us where to eat/drink , what to see/do and helping us park our car etc. There is a paid car park right next door.

Breakfast was very average , toast, cheese, jam, coffee, tea and with it being a hostel you had to clean your own dishes etc. Not really an issue as I expect that in shared hostel kitchen. But I would have thought that with us being in the apartment they might just have stocked our own fridge/kitchen with a few supplies for breakfast as it came with the room.

This place is so good, it is hard to flaw. Firstly, its clean - you feel like you're the first person to ever stay in the room! Its also completely furnished with Ikea, so its nice and modern (better than a lot of hotels I've stayed in!). The kitchen in also really well equipped, which is good if you're on a budget and are cooking a lot.

The staff were so helpful and friendly, which can be hard to find at many hostels. Free internet was a massive bonus.

The only flaw is that its not a very social hostel. They don't have any organised pub nites, or walking tours, like other hostels do. But it doesn't really matter because meeting people when you're out is super easy. But I probably wouldn't recommend this place for young solo travellers.

We stayed here in Feb this year for 4 nights and used it as a base to travel around Granada and to go skiing in the Sierra Nevada. Staff were lovely and helpful and the location was near to plenty of fantastic places to eat.
We rented the 5 person apartment and although it wasn't huge it was perfect for what we needed and it was also very clean and tidy.
Overall we had a fun filled, yet relaxing stay and I would not hesitate to recommend!

We rented a 4-bed apartment, and this came with one bathroom and a kitchen. There's one bedroom, and the other 2 beds are in the living area just off the kitchen. The "hostel" portion was just next to the apartment, and I have to say, it was a bit smelly. Ok once we were in the apartment, though.

Apartment was very clean, common area kitchen below less so. Be aware also that there are stairs to get to the rooms (no lift), so that could be an issue for some.

The beds are comfortable and they were generous with pillows and towels etc. Our main gripe was that the bathroom windows (which look inwards into the courtyard) were inadequately frosted and at night especially, someone from the outside/across the stairs could look right in almost as clearly as if the windows had been opened!

Breakfast was simple, just bread, jam, some cereal, DIY coffee and tea and served starting at 9am, so no good for an early start.

The reception staff consists of one person, so you do have to wait a bit to be attended to if there's someone before you.

Location-wise it's excellent, just a short walk to the cathedral and Gran Via, from which all the buses can be caught.

I'd say the place is good for those who'd like a slight (emphasis on slight) "upgrade" from backpacker style accommodation (and the price reflects this too).
