Apartamentos Muralla Ziri
Ranked #26 of 143 Specialty Lodging in Granada
Reviewed June 9, 2014

We've been to Granada a few times and this time we chose to stay at the apartments as we have a young baby and the kitchen facilities were very useful. The location was excellent, we were in pram-pushing distance of the centre, the old town and we enjoyed a view of the Alhambra palace. Being in the centre means cobbled streets and not-so-easy parking, as is the case all over Granada but we preferred to stay in an atmospheric hotel rather than one of the slightly out-of-town could-be-anywhere hotels.
The apartment was cosy and decorated in a Moorish theme, which was very impressive.
The owners kindly moved us to a bigger apartment after one night because we had the baby, but the smaller apartment was sufficient, and they supplied a baby travel cot too.
In the bigger apartment we enjoyed a huge round bath, perfect for relaxing in hammam-style once baby was in bed!

I booked an appartment with Muralla Ziri as I wanted to be near the Albaycin, Sacromonte and the Cathedral for my 3 days stay in Granada. A stone throw away from Plaza Nueva, Muralla Ziri is ideally located.

I arrived on a Sunday at around 2PM after the staff had left but the instructions were precise and I found my keys and appartment without any problem.

The appartment was very nice, very well equiped and much quieter than I would have thought being on the first floor facing the street.

Next morning the lady at reception was very helpful helping me plan my visit to the Alhambra and helped me book a Flamenco show in minutes.

Overall a great place to stay, confortable and central, staff is there to help and guide you.

I know I'll visit Granada again and Muralla Ziri will be top of my list.

This place is in the perfect location if you want to be near all the action, but still in the beautiful heart of the Albayzin. Set on a little cobbled street just steps from the Plaza Nueva. Compact apartment (we stayed in the Executive with shower & view) - you still get more space than the average standard hotel room, but the individual rooms are on the small side.

Kitchen - not sure it really allows for self-catering as just a tiny hob and no real surface space. Fine for whipping up coffee and storing some breakfast things. You are surrounded by tapas though, so no need to cook in the flat!
Bedroom - nice big bed and a rail for storage. This is the only room with a view of the Alhambra. Although the apartment is on a little street, it's still quite noisy - Granada is a late night city and there was noise/traffic in the early hours. I'd suggested asking for a room away from the street if you are a light sleeper / bothered by noise.
Bathroom - tiny sink and not much space, shower looks impressive but the hot water was very intermittent.

Apart from a few minor gripes, we were very happy with the standard of the apartment. The reception is only manned until 1pm each day, but they were so helpful! Recommended lovely restaurants and happy to answer questions and give advice. We also managed to make it up to the communal roof terrace on one night and the views are just amazing.

We chose Apartmentos Muralla Ziri not for its luxury amenity or striking architecture; we chose it because of its location and impressive Alhambra view from the livingroom. But it exceeded our expectations. The gorgeous facade, the quaint interior, the generous spic-and-span space and the fully equipped kitchen, everything all worked out perfectly at the end of our stay. What I really love the most of all is that this place is smacked right in the middle of Albaycine, the Old City. We couldn't have enjoyed more walking all over Albaycine especially after night fall. There are so many surprises to be discovered at every turn and climb with lit-up Alhambra glowing in the near background. It was magical, romantic and unforgettable! Ask me my favorite city in all of Andalusia- I probably say Granada and Apartmentos Muralla Ziri is part of the reason.

Room Tip: Definitely go for the room with balcony or Alhambra views.

The apartment was in a great location in a quiet street a few minutes from the main square, Plaza Nueva, and with a fantastic roof terrace with views of the Alhambra. It was really well equipped, clean and cosy but not as luxurious as you would expect for the price. The air conditioning worked really well in the cold evenings (there was a unit in each room) but the bathroom was a bit small and some of the electrical devices were old and the functions of the luxury shower didn't work properly. The staff were really helpful and the arrangements for access when we arrived were really good.

This was just what we were looking for, in a quiet street yet really just 5 minutes walk from the Plaza Nueva. Comfortable and clean, and friendly and helpful staff at reception. The roof terrace has a fine view of the Alhambra, do ask if you can use it - we were not expecting to have use of it so it was a real bonus when we were given access to it.

“Most of the good write ups and reviews we read before we went were spot on. These small apartments aren't 'luxurious' but they are clean, really well located, well equipped and with friendly service. Some previous guests had complained about noise but we thought the best thing about them was the privacy and quiet. The use of the roof terrace was an unexpected pleasure. Our only problem was their over-use of really strong plug in air freshener and scented oils. If like us you get a bit overwhelmed by those things we suggest you contact the owners before you go and ask for them to be removed. It took a couple of days for the 'scented atmosphere' to calm down.”
