Description: At the foot of The Alhambra one can find the restaurant Ruta del Azafran. It is in the incomparable setting of the Paseo de los Tristes right in the Albaicin, which is perfect for the traveller that loves to soak up history. Our kitchen, surrounded by this extraordinary scenery, can be found in the same mix of cultures alternating between Arab flavors, international foods and the traditional tastes from Andalucia. It's worth to mention our Tuna Tataki, the Cous-Cous (chicken, lamb or vegetable), Duck Magret, Moorish Pie and also undoubtedly our homemade desserts. All of this accompanied by the best local wines, cavas from the Alpujarra mountains and a special selection of Rioja and Ribera del Duero wines. The restaurant Ruta del Azafran offers different menus for groups that are carefully put together by our chef to provide the most exquisite flavors. All of our meats are Halal and we are ready to accept any request with respect to this. We have a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Our kitchen professionals who make up a highly qualified team assemble all of the dishes in the restaurant. We invite you to visit us: to enjoy the surroundings and taste our exquisite dishes.

This restaurant is special. The food available is a combination of Spanish dishes, Middle Eastern dishes and fusion dishes, allowing you to fully taste the local cuisine. Located at the bottom of the Alhambra, when you sit outside you have an excellent view of the Alhambra complex. Visit around sunset for dinner to see the complex during the day and then lit up at night. Order the gazpacho - it’s delicious. And the cod for the main and you will not be disappointed. The wine menu is also great and of course is served chilled to offset the incredible heat even at night. We visited for a friends birthday and it was super special.

We enjoyed our first meal so much in this beautifully located restaurant that we went back the next night. Azafran sits right under the Palace of the Alhambra. We had Gazpacho, Tuna, Mushroom risotto, pate, Angus ribs and Duck over two nights; all excellent and reasonably priced. There are many restaurants in Granada but we weren’t tempted by any others!

Great cous-cous and soup overlooking Alhambra at night. Tables by the glass windows get the best views of Alhambra. Service was on time and the dishes were great.

We absolutely loved our visit to Ruta del Azafrán! We got the duck pate, ox burger, and mushroom risotto during our first visit. Best duck I’ve ever had, and the ox burger was so unique and tasty. The mushroom risotto was fantastic. Then we got the creme brûlée for dessert, which was great. Our second visit, we got the paella and gazpacho. The paella was high quality and a generous portion. The gazpacho had a great taste. We had no regrets for the food we got either visit. The presentation at the restaurant is beautiful. We tried both the inside and outside eating areas, and both were wonderful. Great view of Alhambra. Our visit to Granada was short, so we were glad we tried this amazing restaurant.

We stayed for just one night in Grenada with our two children (7 and 9). I wanted to select a restaurant that served good quality food with good ambience and I could pre-book as we had a tight turnaround after our Alhambra visit. I checked TripAdvisor and was so glad I did. This restaurant, as the reviews have said, is right below the Alhambra. The views are amazing and there was even a busker playing Spanish guitar which we really enjoyed (we sat outside). Food was excellent (exceeded our expectations) and the local red wine a fantastic accompaniment to our Tasting menu. Staff were ever so friendly and professional. Would highly recommend.
