“Very nice hotel!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2011

My Aant and I traveled to Granada, and based on the reviews that I read here, we decided to stay at Hostal Arteaga.

The room was quite a bit smaller than it looks in pictures, but it was clean, and had ac!! The ac was very good, it cooled the whole room down with no problem. The bathroom was small, but clean and serviceable. They don't provide soap, but they do bring clean towels, clean the room, and make the beds every day.

Additionally, if you stay 3 nights, you get a free spa treatment! The spa is small, but very cool! We very much enjoyed our spa treatment, and who can beat free? :)

Many reviews complained of noise, but we had a room that faced the court yard, and it was extremely quite.

This hotel is located very near Plaza Nueva, and transportation to the Alhambra. The front desk will even arrange tickets to the Alhambra for you at no extra cost. My one caveat is that only one or two of the front desk staff speak English. If you are not very good with spanish, this may cause a bit of an issue, but it's not insurmountable.

I highly recommend this hotel as a place to stay in Granada.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to outside noise choose a room facing the courtyard.

Great location just off Gran Via near car park and bus to Alhambra. Perfectly adequate for 1 or 2 nights' stay. Gran via is rather noisy so sleep with ear plugs in and you'll be fine. Private bathroom compact but functional and like room very clean. Comfortable bed and clean linen. Good value for money, would stay again.

I found this hostal on Trip Advisor. The positive reviews were very true. We had a lovely time in this excellently located hotel right off the main Gran Via of Granada. Excellent service, very friendly staff. As we were staying for three nights, the basic spa treatment was included. We paid for a 30 min massage each. It was a wonderful service. Thoroughly recommend it! The rooms were big enough and clean. The only downside was the smell of stale smoke in our room. When booking, ask for an interior room, avoid the ones looking out onto the street, it may get a bit noisy. Booking was a bit challenging though as these were being taken as from the 1st of April for the Easter break and we had to book from Friday to Monday (three nights) to make it worth their while. However, I offered to book from Thursday to Sunday (three nights) but unfortunately they did not want to accommodate. However, overall it was a lovely experience despite the glitches.

We picked this after only reading a few reviews. We walked off the train and to the hostel and they were able to book us for two nights. The room was ok for what we've seen at similar places in Spain. It's right around the corner from Plaza Nueva, which is a great spot. It is on a side street, but very near one of the main, busy streets. We could hear traffic and people all night out our window. I know there are many rooms that open to the courtyard, and those might be quieter. All in all, average.

I made my decision to stay at Arteaga based on only one review I read here in English. I was a little concerned, but still booked a room at Arteaga for 2 nights through www.sol.com because I liked the price and location.
My husband and I loved this simple but charming hostal with Spanish character. The room was very clean with interesting touches. The bathroom was small but clean and attractive. They provided only shampoo, so we used shampoo instead of soap. Not a problem. One receptionist spoke decent English, the other didn’t, but both were very nice and helpful. I was surprised how quiet it was at the hostal despite its central location.
Bonus: there is a spa at Arteaga. My husband used it and liked his treatment a lot. And it was inexpensive!
I highly recommend this hostal for a short stay to travelers who look for a good deal.

We arrived in Granada and thought it would be easy to find a Hostal for 2 nights, but was troubled to find none that could accomdate. We decided to head all the way back to the first stinky Hostal for 1 night when we came across Hostal Arteaga in the alley of the street before. They had the Best room we stayed at in all of Spain, great helpfull staff, and all for the same price or less then all the other Hostals we looked at. We were the last to check in and so did not get choiuce of rooms, but there are some bigger and better rooms for the same price (1st come 1st get). If yo are going to Granada and want a 2 star Hostal, you will definately be greatfull you booked here (better than most 3 star plus hotels). No internet, but very good location.
