I thought this hotel was lovely and it exceeded my expectations. The receptionist was charming when we checked in and our room located at the back of the building was quiet, comfortable and attractively furnished. The bed was so comfortable that we overslept the following morning, which is very unusual for us. The bed linen and towels were also good quality and the A/C was very efficient and quiet. No problems with Wi-fi either. For the price we paid, this centrally located hotel was excellent valule.

Basically this is a reasonably good hotel. Our room was comfortable, clean but a little small, and had some curtain problems. The room looked out onto the street behind the entrance, and was quite noisy. The parking in a shopping centre carpark and walking some distance with luggage was an acceptable price to pay for the central location. However, for us, the downside of this hotel was the welcome we received, or did not receive from Front desk staff. The attitude of one particular staff member remained hostile for the remainder of our two day stay. Possibly we upset the lady, but we were trying to be helpful, and her attitude left a bad taste...

Room Tip: Try to get a room which does not face the street, the higher the better.

The hotel is located along one of the busier streets in Granada, just off one of the main streets, Calle Reyes Catolico. Relatively easy to locate and the hotel even emailed us instructions on how to find the hotel before our arrival. Just look out for the Burger King at the cross junction. It is hard to miss. It is well surrounded by shops and eateries, but they don’t open late, even when there is still a lot of human traffic well into the early hours in the morning. One night, we reach the hotel around 11.30 and ended up with having Burger King for dinner.

Back to the point, the hotel seems to pride itself on quirkiness and rightfully so. From the décor to the bathroom products, they are amusing and often delightful. The room is quite small, but equipped with all the basic necessities, eg. safe, mini bar, cups/glasses and conveniently located power points. The room has a tiny balcony that opens up to a narrow alley, so not much of a view there. This is fine with us because the beauty and charm of Granada can only be appreciated when you go outside of the hotel. Some not-so-pleasant quirks, the shower partition is a little jerky and the shower fixture get really (scorching) hot when you are taking a hot-water shower. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, pointing out to us where’s what, letting us practice our Spanish, making reservations, and most importantly, offering us a mobile wifi device for free (because it was still on trial). It worked perfectly and was very useful since we can go online anywhere we are and search for directions, opening hours, etc..

From the hotel, if you walk in the direction away from Burger King, and take a right into Calle Arco de las Cucharas, you will arrive at Plaza de Bib Rambla, where you can find old-school churros with delicious chocolate at Gran café. Around the area, you can also see the Catedral de Granada and Capilla Real de Granada. Often, there are bands playing at the square. One of the many things that makes you fall in love with Granada.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 days and were extremely happy with the service, location and, most important of all, our room. The room was spacious and clean. We were really impressed when they offered us a free roaming wifi kit that allows you to stay connected even out of the hotel. I think it works up to 150 meters or something. Have yet to stay at a hotel that had that option - let alone for free!

The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay offering us tips on where to eat and shop. The owner, who dresses very well, offered my girlfriend some tips on where she shops for great clothes that don't break the bank. Also, if it's open, you MUST make the 7 minute walk to Los Italianos to have some of their delicious ice cream. They are a seasonal store that are only open during certain months and we were lucky that this was so close by. We finished off every night with one of their ice creams!

The hotel also offered an amazing rooftop patio with a ridiculous view of the Alhambra and the city. This is a great place to come back to with a bottle of wine, kick back and just soak it all in. Although we didn't pay for the breakfast, we checked it out anyway to see what it offered. I have to say it didn't look all that appealing. Just your staple pastries, cereals and cheeses. You'd be better off just grabbing something from a nearby restaurant.

The most appealing part of the hotel was its location to EVERYTHING. The Alhambra and Albayzin are not too far away. Although they have the tourist bus to take you up and around all of these sites, it's so much better to walk. You get to enjoy the nooks and cranny's of these beautiful sites.

I hope I'm in Granada again and I wouldn't hesitate to stay with this hotel again.
