“Pros but with cons”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2013

There needs to be a little balance here. I stayed with my two adult daughters for a 5 night break mid October.
Rooms are very run down and basic but the things that you need to be clean, i.e. beds towels and crockery were! And we were given access to free air conditioning in the room and wifi in the reception.
We were pleasant to the staff and found the compliment was returned.
Pool area was acceptable and at that time of the year there was no problem getting a sunbed.
Walls are paper thin so earplugs are a must.Armed with these I slept very well, even though I was on the sofa bed.
The selling point of these apartments is the location. a minute to the beach, short walk to the marina and centrally located for buses and the night life of the Square.
We would go back for the location coupled with the very cheap price. If you are going to use the room just to sleep and get ready- fine- if you want comfort, you won't find it here!
Torremolinos- really liked the resort although mainly stayed the marina end. Benalmadana is within easy walk and also very nice. From the apartments, about 50 minutes slow walk (we stopped for a drink halfway) is Parc de Palloma. Well worth a visit to this free park that has animals, birds and all sorts of garden areas.Even my daughters 22 & 24 loved it and you can hire a sort of segway to go around the lake-great fun!
We took the ferry from the marina to Fuengerola and had a lovely trip down the coast. In the harbour area there (as you exit from the boat) is an English run restaurant called Bella Vista that was very pleasant and is extremely popular for it's roasts.
Best bar for music and a night life is Mombassa in the Marina.

Room Tip: You must have earplugs just in case you have noisy neighbours!!!

Omg where do i start.... arrived at 9pm and had 3 flights of stairs to drag our luggage down...
Reception man whom i called pedro demanded a 50euro deposit so i asked for what... he mearly grunted and pointed to a sign that states not to leave any litter about etc.. what the hell is this place i thought.. was given our key to 516 and a plastic card for the electric.. surely we dont need coal also i thought.. on arrival to our room there was no lights on outside so i felt like i was on the crystal maze or more like the fear factor upon enterin the apartment.. hole punched through our bedroom door, shower door slides which way it wants to go then it fell off... i thought jeez can it get any worse and then it did.. the airer outside came off the wall.. knew i should of packed my d.i.y kit.. beds
Was like a camper bed, rock hard and a bolster 4 a pillow which would of looked perfect on a double bed but sadly ours was singles.. the kitchen looked like pre dinosaur era so i shut the door and didnt return again the whole week..
Found a nice splash of blood up the lounge wall i should imagine that someone tried to dig their way out at some point.. pool was nice but freezin and shut at 6pm.. good point the wifi is free but if youve got poor eyesight then dont attempt the password as its way too long... nice places to eat at the back of alcatraz.. sadly after 5pm all there is to drink at alcatraz is pool water... good luck if youve booked to stay there and pack some striped pyjamas as you will blend in well... enjoy..

We are a family of 5 who decided to take the kids out of school for a week at the end of sept. Room was spacious and we had a lovely view over lookin the sea. Pool was cleaned every day. Room was only cleaned once but we had plenty of towels to last us. The location is ideal, 2 min walk from the beach and around 10 mins to benalmadena. Plenty of bars/restaurants and a supermarket just around the corner. The only downside to this hotel for us was that at night time the side gates locked at 8pm so we had to carry the pram down 4 sets of stairs which was hard work. I can imagine that this place would be full of groups and young couples without kids in the summer but it was fine for us during term time.

sea view, clean apartment on top floor, quiet and central in off season - very few authentic Spanish eateries close by. A lot of greasey cafe types serving chicken and chips. Good value for the amount of money paid

Room Tip: Top floor sea view in off season

Just back from 4 night stay at Buensol with my husband. Had requested a one bedroom with pool view but got a 2 bedroom (109) with sea view. View not particularly good as huge tree was in front of us, although the balcony was a good size with a table and 6 chairs. Interior was extremely basic, a couch, two plastic chairs and a table with 4 plastic chairs. Bedroom again had limited furniture, double wardrobe hard to slide open with broken hangers. Bathroom had shower over bath (which only a child could sit in) and a plastic curtain to pull around. Kitchen so small I could touch both walls at same time. Fridge freezer good size but rusty, no electric kettle really really basic, there's no way I could had made even toast if kids had been there. Holes in doors and in general need of updating or even a lick of paint. Bedroom was over the laundry room or something similar as there was a constant hum all night which kept me awake a lot. Pool area ok but again in need of repair - broken tiles etc and I noticed the grass around the kids pool area was that sparse if was mainly muck. Air con only in living area. Plenty of towels and bed made up once but we were only there for 4 nights. Location is probably why people go to this hotel. Its very central to everything. Out the side gate of hotel and within one minute your on the beach, a right turn brings you towards the harbour which has lots of restaurants and shops although make sure you walk right up into the marina because there are lots there. Left turn brings you to some shops and restaurants but if you walk for about 10 minutes there are loads of little tapas bars/cafes/restaurants and shops set one street back. Torremolinos is a lovely resort and I would go back with my children but not to the Buensol Apartments as these are too basic for me - as the local English call them 'Alcatraz' .

Room Tip: sea views at back get morning sun until about 1pm, but you'd need to be on at least 2nd floor to...

First of all we arrived around 1 in the morning and went up to room 113 to discover it was a hell hole, the decor was outdated, fridge was rusty and there were holes in every door, also in the toilet bin there was a dirty sanitary product so either the maids had used to room or it wasn't cleaned! As it was 1 in the morning we decided we would stay in the room for that night, as we laid in bed we could hear absolutely everything around us, upstairs going to the toilet, pipes from the bathroom and a group of loud lads next door, fair to say none of us slept much. We went down to reception in the morning to complain to which they then suggested we move rooms, so then we were relocated to room 203 which had a lovely sea view and it was a big improvement, there was no noise and the appliances all worked fine. We didn't get no matches for the oven and when all three of us went into the shower consecutively the hot water went cold and the boiler in the kitchen started leaking water a little. When enquiring about a safety deposit box they told us about the stealing situation by the pool and advised us to be careful, when they should be the ones sorting it out.The cleaners came once but as we were in they just asked about towels and linen, but even when we changed the bedding the fresh linen was full of long black hair, there wasn't a sheet without! We didn't pay for A/C but there was no remote and it was 3€ a day for only two English channels- BBC news and Itv. I went with family and I wouldn't go with family again but if it was friends and we would be out most of the time then fine. We just ended up laughing about our holiday disasters.
