“great week at sol don marco”
Reviewed April 13, 2008

We stayed at this hotel from March 16th to 23rd this year. We have come for the past few years to Malaga for Semana Santa and use Torremolinos as a base.
Last year we stayed in the Hotel Don Pablo, a lovely hotel in which we have holidayed on a no of occasions.
We decided to change to its sister hotel this year and boy, were we impressed.

We arrived at around 11.30pm to a very warm welcome from the receptionist, who was more than happy to facilitate us with a room with a sea view, per my request.
The room was on the 4th floor, very comfortable and well appointed, and spotlessly clean.

There were extra pillows and blankets provided, the latter most welcome as temperatures dropped dramatically during the early hours.

At all times the team on reception were friendly, courteous and helpful, tolerating and even encouraging my husbands attempts to communicate soley in Spanish with much amusement and admiration!!!

The dining room, where both breakfast and dinner were served, was a large airy room, the other end of which led to the Hotel Don Pedro, another "sister".

Food was excellent, choice was huge, everything constantly eing replenished.
A very friendly manager was on duty most mornings, English I think, and proved an invaluable source of information for us.

We had lunch, which was served in the newly refurbished Don Pablo, on a couple of occasions and found the food and coice therre excellent also.

Dinner in Don Marco catered for all tastes, Spanish, Italian, good solid Northern European food, salads, soups.
And dessert!!! still trying to shift the weight.

The late night bar was in Hotel Don pedro, manned by a charming waiter.

All in all, we can only praise and recommend this hotel as a lovely relaxing spot.\\

The complex itself has a number of pools, and beautiful gardens.

One point I'd like to make, and this is not aimed specifically at the Don Marco, but at all hotels like these.
Please please leave the tea and coffee macihines on for our vital, life saving caffeine after meal boosts!
Oh, and a kettle in the room would be the icing on the cake.

We'll be back!!

  • Liked — Friendliness, accessibility, comfort, cleanliness, friendliness, food, facilities
  • Disliked — no tea in restaurant after dinner!! no kettl in room!

Stayed over Easter for 2 nights. Lovely hotel, we requested a sea view and had a great room. Very good location with good selection of bars & restaurants close by. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Had room service on the first night it was very efficent and nice food. Would stay again, comfortable, clean well maintained and freindly staff.

On arrival at lunch time before the stipulated 2pm check in meant a very small delay in a room being allocated. The room was modern, very clean, with good furnishings overlooking a pool and side sea views. Whilst we stayed at the Don Marco the 3 hotels in the Sol Don interlinked complex provided a variety of range of activities both during the day and at night. We were impressed with the quality and comfort of the lounge/bar areas and the real wood burning fire added a touch of cosiness. Food was the usual extensive buffet and most would be able to find something to their taste. A good hotel at a very reasonable price only minutes from the airport , ideal for a short winter break.

  • Liked — value for money, range of facilities within complex, cleanliness
  • Disliked — It may be a little too close to the 'action' in the main summer period?

just back from 6 nights at the Don Marco. Lovely hotel, beautiful grounds and lots of swimming pools many in hidden areas with plenty of sunbathing areas. Hotel very quiet and restful. the two sister hotels nice also, but nowhere near as lovely as the Don Marco. food good and restuarant had really pleasant atmosphere. tried the other restuarant in one of the other hotels , food choice okay but very rushed and felt like being in a canteen.Hotel staff really pleasant.Had a massage in the Spa. 30 euros for half an hour.
Weather was lovely sunny with a bit of cloud most days but better than we had hoped for., one overcast day so we hired bikes from bikeshop round the corner from hotel (10 euros each).. resort not up to much and very quiet but suited us for a laidback and peaceful holiday.
would go back to the Don Marco tomoorow!

Very nice rooms (loved the front sea view) and lobby, wide variety of food at the buffet, lovely beach and beach bar right across the street, good location in Torremolinos. Friendly staff at the reception desk as well. This hotel entirely worths the money and its official rating.

We are just back from Torremolinos at the Sol Don Marco and I'd like to recommend it for travellers of all ages, the hotel is part of a three hotel chain on the same complex namely the Don Pablo, Pedro and Marco, Marco is the newest built but all three are of a decent standard. okay there are probably better hotels in the world but there are millions of hotels that don't reach thier standards.

Rooms clean and serviced every day, food was buffet style and typical but plenty of choice, proximity to the beach was only about 50 yards and was central for all of Torremolinos facilities.

A good hotel and it was a fair number of years since we were in Costa Del Sol and the area has improved since our last visit, it was a pleasant surprise to find that the area was now frequented by by almost 90% Spanish travellers and was not just Blackpool by the sea so if you want fried breakfasts and fish and chips for tea then go somewhere else.

Very good hotel and I would reccomend without hesitation. Clean throughout and full of surprising little areas for sunbathing or being in the shade - the hotel has character. Very centrally located in Torremolinos not busy but not empty and within easy reach of all areas and railway station about 10-15 minutes away.
Food buffet is of the usual standard expected with a good range. Only criticism of service is that Italian corner and the grill area can be a little slow.
