“Tapas Heaven”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2012

A friend and I were introduced to Matahambre by a local (early 80year old!!). What an experience - we repeated it twice! The variety of tapas and the cold Tinto de Verrano made a convert of me. Cannot wait to visit Torremolinos again - one of my first stops will be Matahambre.

“Great place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2011

We went to Matahambre after hearing postive comments from other visitors. It was really a great place: awesome food, great desserts, fine wines and nice atmosphere. Card is a little difficult to go through because of the extended menu but the staff was very friendly to guide us through the menu. For starter we had a little toast with nuts and goat cheese and one with a little hot dog on top of it. Very nice. Then we had roasted bread with scampi and mushroom, grilled vegetables, the chicken wrap and the patatas bravas. The patatas bravas were the best we ate all over Andalusië. The dessert (chocolate cake with orange pieces and vanilla ice cream) was really heavenly! Mmm... Place to be if you go to Torremolinos!!!

“Tapas, just a little different!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2011

Matahambre is a part of group of Tapas restaurants in Andalusia, not only along the cost line but also inland. We had our dinner in Alhaurin el Grande. Excellent! The menu has a huge variety of small tapas and dishes. Don't order to much and not for your self alone but time by time and they put the tapas in the center of the table so everybody can enjoy. For good understanding Taps is not a way of dinner, but a drink with snacks and a good conversation !

“A Must go tapas place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2011

This is a must go, chain place for a good tapas&wine experience! There are about 5-6 different branch distributed in different provinces of Andalucia. We went to the one in Torremolinos and waited about an hour to get inside but eventually it was worth to every minute of it :)
The menu is quite long and requires some time to study what is what. I don't remember the names of everything that we tried but Iberian Stew was great and if you like spicy food, definitely a must try! We also tried the tostie with brie and blueberry jam, it was huge and very tasty.
Staff is helpful and open to questions to explain and give recommendations.
They have vast options for wine, we had the most typical house white wine and it was surprisingly excellent! We also loved the atmosphere! This was one of the most satisfactory positive dining experience in Spain for us. Recommended fully!
