“Great hotel, not so keen on the resort”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2014

When we first arrived on Friday afternoon, I have to say I was a little disappointed. In terms of decor, the hotel is a little dated now and definitely 3 star, not 4. A few beers later and we suddenly saw some commotion from the top level above the pool. Foam Party! This was awesome and I recommend you don't miss this if you're staying on a Friday. Both the kids and adults had an amazing time. Really got our holiday off to a flyer and I began to change my mind about the hotel!

The food and drink here can't really be faulted. Plastic cups during the day as you'd expect, but bigger than I've had at other all inclusive hotels. You get glasses with dinner and in the evening for the entertainment. Self service beer and wine means you're hardly ever queuing and the self service Mojito in the evening went down a storm!

There were lots of Spanish there, probably more over the weekend as mentioned, but they didn't cause us any problems whatsoever. Not sure what all the negative comments are about. If you desperately want to be surrounded by Brits, go to Blackpool for your hols :)

One downside is the hotel isn't really near anything. The coach to the beach though is great and there is a special reserved area on the beach for Roc hotels so you always got a good spot. Cheaper to pre-book the loungers at the hotel. I wasn't very impressed with Torremelinos at all though and as a result, we spent almost every evening at the hotel. Meant we had a very cheap holiday though, which was a result!

We did spend at a day at the Waterpark which was great fun although some of the rides weren't really worth the long wait. If you go, I'd avoid the Black Hole and the Slalom rides - all the others were generally better rides with much shorter queuing times.

We had some stress on the last day as we got stuck in the lift, but they came to sort us out within 10 mins.

Over all, I doubt we'd go back because the resort was way too built up for me. I much prefer the smaller resorts in the Balearics.

If however you want a great family holiday, happy to spend the majority of your time at the hotel and don't want to spend much money when you're there, you'll have a wonderful time at Roc Costa Park

A pleasant surprise Good food, loads of choices, clean ,pools are great for kids, especially the pirate ship ... Only down side , its a bit isolated, if you want to look around the local town , would go again...

Room Tip: at opposite side of entrance , good view and quiet.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 12 year old son for a week on the 19th july. Our first impression was how dated our room was and pretty scruffy but it was very big with a bedroom for our son so we weren't to bothered. Our first day was the sunday and it was over run with locals hardly any brits, The locals were so rude and arrogant they would take your beds and parasols by the pool as soon as you turned your back and the life guard didn't take any notice! The drinks were really good to be fair San Miguel on tap wine and cocktails. The food was not so good though the meat was RAW even the chicken!! poor quality and certainly not catered for brits at all,. We felt that the dining room tables and chairs were filthy and were not cleaned while we were there plus the glasses and cutlery were often not cleaned. We enjoyed our holiday because of the people we met and we made the most of the hot sun but we would not return to this hotel but will return to the resort. To sum it up to give this hotel a 4**** would be like giving mc donald's a Michelin star......

Returned to UK on 29/7 after 1wk at Roc Costa. I was really apprehensive about the hotel after reading the negative reviews on here...I shouldn't have worried.
We arrived at 11pm with a cold plate of food and drinks waiting for us, check in was easy. Safe in room was 29 Euro (10 E deposit returned). The rooms were large and comfortable - big bathroom with bath/over shower, toilet and bidet. We did have a cockroach in the bath from the plughole but soon removed and didn't see another all the time we were there! They are local bugs.
Buffet food was very good, although the labelling was not always correct so you had to guess sometimes what meat it was - stated lamb but was obviously pork! Food was always hot and plenty of it, desserts, ice-cream and snacks are also recommended - can't fault anything from the restaurant. Service very good too.
Entertainment team were excellent, kids club too. No pressure to join in any activity, aqua-gym, waterpolo, volleyball etc...lots of pool activities to keep everyone entertained. Night time entertainment was ok, parrot show was very good, eagle show was terrible - bingo was a good laugh. 1 game took 30 mins!
Torremolinos town was about 20 min walk, 8 euro in taxi, well worth visiting - lovely shops, bars and restaurants along the beach front. Belamadina 15 euros away, well worth a trip too.
My complaints: Pool rules!! Pool does not open before 10am which is ridiculous - gates are locked and this is strictly observed. The pool is very deep, yet no diving allowed and would be told off from the lifeguard who didn't have a sense of humour! The deep end of the pool was extremely deep so why no diving no-one knew - jumping in and splashing was ok??? Sunbeds are packed together so not enough room in between them, reserving of beds with towels only allowed for 1hr before stickers placed on the bed to be used by anyone. Not enough umbrelllas for everyone and arguments broke out between British and locals accusing umbrella stealing!! Pool closes at 8pm. At approx 6pm the Spanish would descend on the pool and grab any beds available surrounding you if needs be without a care.
My other complaint: The Spanish!! Whether staying in this Hotel, or whether using for the weekend (and they arrived in droves Fri-Sun) they were rude and very ill-mannered...they used to queue jump any queue - food, pool, snacks, bar etc etc...with no regard for anyone but themselves, family, or other locals....everyone British I spoke to about this said the same...as soon as the weekend passed the Hotel became quiet again and enjoyable.
Check out was by midday and the All Inc bands cut off, we still used the restaurant without hassle.
On reflection for a last minute cheap holiday I would recommend it and would go back as another cheapy, However whether it's worth it for 10am pool opening and the hassle from the locals...am not too sure when other Hotels are available, but what are their rules??
If Hotel Management read this review they should review Pool opening times to 9am at least (or earlier) and certainly so something about the attitude of the 'guests' they have on weekends!!

Me, my husband and little boy (3 yrs old) have just returned from this hotel staying on the 21st July for 10 nights. Overall we have no complaints and found the hotel a very pleasant stay, i'll list my different opinions below!

Rooms - when we first arrived we were allocated a room which was in the older part of the building. This room was extremely dated and very basic, it was also far away from everything. We complained and the next day we paid for an upgrade to the newly refurbished part of the hotel and stayed in a Junior suite. Please ensure you stay in the NEW part of the hotel!! Room was gorgeous, very spacious and clean.

Food and drinks - we found the food to be really nice, of course after staying there for 10 nights it got abit repetitive but surely you expect that from an all inclusive hotel! The guy who cooked freshly made pancakes / omelettes for breakfast was lovely, always very friendly with a smile on his face. We didnt eat lunch but for tea they always had a different carved meat and plenty of choice such as pasta, rice, paella, potatoes, pizza etc. My little boy lived off pasta and bread but theres plenty to choose from! The drinks were great, all self-serve. Ranging from fizzy drinks, juice, hot drinks, beer, wine and slush.

Pools - the main pools (the big pool and the pirate pool) got very busy but we didnt find this an issue, as long as you are down by 10am you will get yourself some good sunbeds. The main pool did get busy but it was really big so still plenty of room for everyone. The pirate pool was great, lots of slides for the children! The lifeguards were very nice, always made an effort with all the kids and you felt safe that they were always checking on the pools etc. One of the reviews ive read is that the lifeguards throw the kids in the pool without checking etc....i think this is nonsense! The lifeguards only seemed to play with the kids and throw them in the pool once they knew they were old enough too etc and their parents were always there watching etc.

Entertainment - i think this is the main thing that lets the hotel down. The entertainment only starts late and it is mainly spanish orientated so its not great. On the other hand my 3 year old was more than happy to enjoy dancing to the spanish songs!! The entertainment team worked very hard.

Staff - the staff really made this hotel, they all worked extremely hard and they were especially good with all the children! Always coming to chat to the kids round the pool, making balloon animals before tea etc!

Spanish - there are alot of spanish who stay here, id say 70% were spanish when we first got to the hotel but then alot more english arrived after later in the week. Some of the spanish were abit rude, they did push in the queues sometimes but overall they didnt bother us! There did seem to be alot louder than english but again they didnt affect our stay and it wouldnt put me off going again.

Location - it is abit out of the way to things if you like walking to the beach and shops etc. however there is a free shuttle bus which is around every 45 minutes from the bottom of the road which takes you direct to the beach in about 15 mins so it was great! We went to the beach a couple of days and it was so easy!

We would definitely stay here again (but we would make sure we booked the new rooms instead before we went)! Dont be put off by all the bad reviews, we initially were but so glad we took no notice of them!

My husband, myself my daughter her husband and there two children aged 3 and 4 have just returned from Roc Costa I must admit reading some of the reviews it makes you wonder if you have made the right decision to go there, please be assured it really is a nice place, the space there is great everyone isnt on top of each other, the food is good you can always find something to eat, too much sometimes, the entertainment is good our littleones loved the mini disco at night although I did think it starts a little late at 9.30 for the younger children, the rooms were spacious with all you need for a good holiday, so please dont take any notice of the moaners go there yourself, the only negative thing I will say is people are right about the Spanish, I know you get good and bad in all countries but I dont think the spanish have learnt the concept of queing they just walk up the front knock you out of the way if they have too but we didnt let there bad manners spoil our holiday we all enjoyed our stay at the Roc Costa and maybe one day we will return

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor which was easy to get to the pools and restaurants

Stayed here recently for 4 nights. The hotel is clean, tidy and comfortable. We asked for 2 quiet rooms as we had an elderly relative with us and that's exactly what we got. Very spacious rooms with large, comfy beds. The rooms were cleaned each day. All members of staff were polite and helpful.
The food was typical all inclusive, good and lots of choice. However, if you are staying for any length of time, I would imagine it may become repetitive.
The main complaint with the hotel is the same as everyone else. The Spanish staying here are noisy, aggressive and rude. It's very important that you stand up for yourself if you are staying here. We found out that the best time to eat was as soon as the restaurant opened, it's then being used by families who are having a meal and then putting their children to bed. At about 9 pm, it becomes very busy, lots of unsupervised children eating alone before the entertainment (children's) begins at 9.30! One particular night, we left it until late to eat and were literally shouting at each oth to make ourselves heard.
The entertainment isn't very good. We found ourselves sitting in a quiet area every night rather than near the stage. Again, this was to get away from the noisy guests and the children roaming around, fighting and shouting.
It's a shame that this review is so negative. The hotel and facilities are very good, but it isn't relaxing or quiet.
