2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2012

Have just returned from a week at the Royal Costa hotel went from 1st to 8th October 2012, the hotel is clean but cleaners started at about 8am in the morning and all you could heard was furniture beeing scrapped across the floor . The food was not good to be honest most of the time it was cold and was repetative. Eat out a few times so paid twice really also was fed up of having drinks in plastic cups because as the bar staff pointed out several times we werent allowed a glass as we were all inclusive. On many occasions spanish guest got served before I did . After being in the hotel for 2 days several spanish families came to hotel with approx 10 children between them they were rude and the children extremely disrepectful and they caused nothing but trouble throwing water on guest breaking hotel property i spoke to reception about this and they just didnt seem to care. Will not be returning to this hotel ever again. I paid good money for this hotel and will not holiday in a place where i am treated so rudely by staff

Hi Anya,

Thank you very much for choosing Hotel Royal Costa for your holiday on the Costa del Sol, regret not meeting your expectations. I do not think your review is objetive. Our Hotel is well aware of our UK customers. The plastic cups are used in all beach hotels for all inclusive. The food at our hotel is varied and you can always find something to your liking. Obviously it is not junk food, offer Andalusian and international cuisine. We hope to see you again in our hotel.

Kind Regards,

My wife and I plus two friends have just returned from 10 days at this Hotel.
The Hotel and Bedrooms were generally clean and the Staff in general very pleasant.
The food was cold and, especially at breakfast was swimming in oil, barely cooked,
tasteless and mostlyvery unpleasant, if you can survive on Salad you would probably do very well. The Hotel is approximately 20 minutes walk from the nearest beach and you need to catch the train, which runs just outside the Hotel to get to Torremolinas, Benalmadena and
Fuengerola with a fare of 1.65 Euros each way. If you are looking for Entertainment. forget it.
The animation team consist of a man and a woman, neither of whom speak very good English. As an example one night the act was a Reptile show which consisted of an Iguana a tortoise and a snake main interest getting people to have photos.
Thursday is Spanish arrival day, don't get me wrong they have to have their holidays as well , but we were inundated with out of control children and lots of them, until the Sunday, a total nightmare. I would definitely not recommend this Hotel to anyone and we shall not be going back.

We've just returned from a fortnight at the Royal Costa. We did our research and the hotel certainly exceeded our expectations. Hotel was spotless. Our room was a good size and comfortable and we were lucky enough to have a wonderful view over the pool.
Rooms were cleaned every single day so certainly no complaints regarding cleanliness. Those Maids certainly earned every Euro! Well done to them!
Food wasn't brilliant but with a bit of imagination we managed to eat well for the fortnight. Breakfast was a bit of a challenge as the usual boiled egg, fried egg, yoghurt was NOT on the menu. Every morning was the same scrambled egg, baked beans, spanish sausage and bacon but we managed to rustle up a satisfactory brekkie so never went without.
All inclusive drinks were very good. No complaints whatsoever. Anything we didn't like we were able to substitute with something that we did like. Some people who review on here just love to complain - come on folks, you're on holiday - get on with it and enjoy yourselves! You haven't paid Ritz prices so you aint gonna get Ritz quality!!
Entertainment was dire we have to admit. But we'd researched the hotal and knew that anyway - we didn't expect quality entertainment and if we'd wanted it we would have chosen another hotel (and paid for it).
Location was good. OK its a bit far out of Torremolinas itself butt located is on the railway so you can choose which direction you want to go for a small price. We went to the end of the line to Fuengerola for 1.95 euros and went 1 stop in the other direction to Plaza Mayor a wonderful little shopping plaza packed with lovely shops, bowling alley, amusement arcade and fantastic restaurant and bars at exceptionally low prices. Its possible to get a large beer for 1 euro if you eat in, the cheapest beer around.
A point regarding the facitilies at the hotel, it seemed a waste that the large attractive outdoor tent/gazebo buildings are not used as we had a few days of rain and the inside bar area got overcrowded with people and rowdy kids. The hotel was overtaken by Spanish families and their naughty children the last couple of days we were there. If we could have avoided being in the same vicinity of them we would - it was like a scene out of "My big fat gyspy Wedding" with chavvie kids misbehaving - they really were VILE!
We would certainly recommend a visit to the many beach bars which offer wonderful local food and drink with wonderful views over the sea.
Overall a great hotel which offers good value for money. We would recommend the hotel for adults who want to get out and explore the surrounding areas.

Room Tip: We had rooms 415/416 which overlooked the pool/sea. Great rooms.

This hotel was so easy to reach from Malaga airport - only 2 stops on train. The local beach is a short walk away, leading to esplanade walk to Torremolinos. Hotel staff always friendly and helpful and hotel generally very quiet. I was pleased to get local bus from Torremolinos to La Linea for day trip to Gibraltar and then train from Malaga to Seville for the day. It is so easy to explore local area as this hotel is so close to Los Alamos station.

Room Tip: As a frequent solo traveller, I was delighted to be allocated a single, but perfect room. I had en...

Just back after 10 days AI. Modern, spotlessly clean inside hotel.(Poolside could do with a good power wash) but plenty sunbeds and a lovely well maintained garden area. Pigeons bit of a pest especially when food being served in outside bar. Food, drink and accommodation good considering what we paid for the 'all inclusive' package. Snacks were crisps, nuts and olives. Fridge with cakes sandwiches and pizza. Pity they were not covered, so quickly dried out and became hard. Would recommend this hotel for short break. Bit bored after 10 days. Handy for station. Trains every 20mins to Torremolinas, Benalmadena Fuengirola, Malaga. Only 1.65 eur each way for 2 zones. Drawback - last return train from Torremolinos 11.45pm. Entertainment non-existent during day. Bingo in Spanish and reptile show at night. Kids were bored. Pool shallow end 4ft. Couple of Spanish cafes and 2 restaurants 10mins walk away. Nothing else close. Beach 10 min walk through station underpass. Really nice prom with good beach tapas bars. 8 euro to hire 2 sun beds. Prom stretched for miles.Good for walks. Only discovered Plaza Mayor next train stop heading for Malaga on last day. Modern shopping centre with good choice of restaurants. Overall good base if you get the sunshine and just want a quiet holiday. Expect bus loads of Spanish & French OAPs. Hotel seems to be their base for tours and trips.

Room Tip: A/C units in all rooms. Room 614 on top floor overlooks pool and gardens. No problem getting a lift...

My partner and I stayed here from 9th Sept for 6 nights and are already talking about going back. I was a little dubious prior to the stay but this was not necessary. The location especially, was perfect for us. It took approximately 15 minutes (including the walks at both ends and a slight wait for the train) from going through passport control at the airport to checking in with the friendly staff at the hotel. Okay, we were lucky that the train was due just after we turned up at the station but even if we had just missed the last one, they arrived every 20 minutes. So prior to its arrival we paid for our tickets (1.65 euros) at the little machine; which with the press of a button translates into different languages, hopped on and two stops later; Hola Los Alamos.

From the station at Los Alamos you can see the hotel sign standing proud on top of the building. Ignore the graffiti on the perimeter wall, this is in no way a reflection of what the town or the hotel is like. The hotel is more modern than I expected with some nice artwork on each floor. Floors can be accessed by the two little lifts which were always working throughout our stay. The hotel is meticulously clean. The only day they didn't seem to be able to keep on top of this was the Saturday we left. Hoards of people had arrived and whilst the rest remained meticulous, the reception toilets got into a bit of a state. There were two mischievous young girls messing about with the soap and taps too which I am sure did not help. Since our return home we learned that it may have been the last weekend of the Spanish children's school holidays. This might explain the influx of guests. It had been relatively quiet up until that day. The influx also meant that we were not able to pay for late check-out (which is 30 euros if anyone is thinking about it). However, there was a secure storage area for our bags and whilst we didn't use them, our all-inclusive bands were not taken from us.

Okay, so we get to food and drink. For what we paid, there is no room for complaint here at all. However, I'm pleased we didn't stay for 2 weeks as I was itching to try new places by the end of our stay. There is so much out there to tempt the taste buds but we were on a small budget so didn't want to eat out too much. The fish in the Chiringuitos looked amazing and a fillet steak we had at Madeinterrania in Malaga made every meal afterwards a disappointment. It is the tastiest steak I've had and their olives were to die for too. When we do return we will possibly stay bed and breakfast, although the drinks are good; especially the sangria. I noticed that some people complained about the snacks. During our stay, there was nuts, olives and crisps on the bar but also pastries and ice cream in the fridges at the side of the bar too. Late afternoon each day there was fresh pizza served and on the Saturday afternoon there was also burgers and salad. I don’t know if this happens every Saturday afternoon though.
Overall, no complaints about the hotel and like I said its location is perfect. Los Alamos is quiet, spotless and within easy reach of the airport, Malaga, Torromelinos, Benelmadena and Fuengirola, Just hop on a train. Don’t make the mistake we did and walk to Benelmadena though because we couldn’t find the station to get back. Much easier to get the train there and walk back. The Marina there is beautiful so definitely worth a visit. On the way back from the marina towards Los Alamos there is a large fish restaurant with staff all in white polo shirts. The tables are all dressed in white cloths and the restaurant is done out in blue and white. You will spot it. We never ate there but will do when we return. Food looked really great. Don’t go to Francos with the orange chairs though. That was our only food mistake as they served clams full of sand. Yuk!!
