Very clean hotel in a residential area, great train link 2 minutes walk away which will take you up as far as Fuengirola one way and Malaga the other. Get the train from the airport as it's only 2 stops to Los Alamos and costs about 1 euro 35c. The hotel was full of Spanish people and packed when we arrived but it was quite peaceful after they left on Sunday/Monday. ABYSMAL entertainment - one game of bingo or one quiz PER NIGHT and that's it! Bar staff not great and certainly don't make you feel welcome but reception and restaurant staff were fine. Quite a few older people there, certainly do not go if you want a lively hotel. No music in pool area during the day and barely audible in the evening. Pool was very refreshing - not heated I don't think but once you are in there it's fine. There is an unpleasant smell of drains by the pool toilets so don't sit there! Our room was quite small and clean but they need revamping! Food was fine with something for everyone, pork, chicken, fish, veal and vegetarian options every day. Breakfast started at 7am and ended at 10am. Snacks were crisps and peanuts (eaten by the many birds in the area who often ate from the uncovered baskets of snacks on the bar!) and leftover croissants from breakfast. Lunch 1pm-3pm and dinner 7pm-9.30pm. Bottles/glasses of wine in restaurant with dinner and lunch which you help yourself to. The birds are many and some quite loud! You will get plane and train noise but it didn't bother me at all. The rooms have no soundproofing and there was some noise especially people moving chairs across the hard floors! I would recommend this hotel for a midweek stay but I wouldn't want to stay longer than a week personally. We didn't go to the beach but were told it wasn't very nice down there. On the downside the rooms need updating and tea/coffee facilities would be welcome in the rooms!

I booked this hol for a suprise 30th birthday gift for my boyfriend as we had limited days off and limited places to fly to from cardiff for 4 days . I booked through teletext and had a good deal on all inclusive. The hotel itself is not far from apart would say 10min in car however there is a train at airport which goes to station in resort which station is 5 min walk away . The area its in is quiet and more local than tourist there is a shop and afew bars up road but shop has basic things more for food then things to get eg postcards , also bars are more for lunches than afew drinks. The main resort is about half hr walk or again can get train to hit beach it 10 min walk . Hotel very clean and help on reception was great had loads of advise all areas including rooms were clean . In the rooms there is all basic things including TV which has 3 english speaking channels , however in hotels i have stayed at in past there a welcome pack of some sort there is nothing like this hense needing to ask at reception. If you are all inclusive drinks are free between 11-11 but even though it local alchol all the norm soft drink names are there , food is basic im a fussy eater and did find something to eat and it tasted nice however the range is basically repeated every day apart from every now and again a new meat is added. The entertainment is limited im sure this is due to it being just out of season however in evening there was a woman who was very hyper and tried to get everyone involved in bingo which was free but when saying numbers in 3 languages every now and again a number would get lost in translation and also at the time spanish granies were eager to win! We went to malaga on train which cost 4.30 return for me and my boyfriend and i would recommend the malaga tour bus 17 euro each its one of those hop on and off and valid for 24hrs there give earphones so can learn about the sights which was nice.
overall the hotel was nice for the price and for afew days but would say wouldn't go for a week as too quiet for me but maybe this different in summer months .

Room Tip: teletext had some great deals

My fiancee and I stayed for 4 nights in April.
We got a bargain - All inclusive
It was a break and we met some really nice people.
We managed to get tipsy on the local brands and beer before 11pm so we a were happy.
Food was ok, some good days, some not so good.

It is a friendly hotel and the guests all got along with each other

Me and my boyfriend stayed here from the 9th - 13th may... we honestly don't know what people are complaining for, the staff are friendly - went out of there way for us even though they couldn't hardly understand us haha, the food was very nice and had a good choice, i'm fussy and i eat well every dinner and night. The drinks ended at 11pm but just stack up before then and then you dont have to pay after its finished :). they dont have a problem serving you with more than one drink too.
The rooms are very clean and well decorated, the get clean towels etc every day.

The Train station is right at the bottom of the road - it saves you so much on transfers, its so cheap and you can get any other resorts within 5 -20 mins - the most we paid was 2euro15 for a return....
get the train from the airport heading towards fuengirola get off at los alamos station its only 2 stops away and you can see the hotel from the stop.

The entertainment wasn't great but we didn't go at peak time, but the girl who was there was funny and made everyone laugh.

Overall the place is great and you couldn't ask for more for what you pay. its cheap and cheerful, its friendly and the food is lovely. its probably not the kinda place for families looking for things to do in the area - but as we say its great if you don't mind paying that bit less for the hotel and using the train to get where you want. :)

Just had 10 days all inclusive at the royal costa, with mixed feelings.
Its a very nice hotel set in nice gardens, extremely clean and very well maintained. The food is fairly typical spanish hotel fayre, buffet restaraunt with plenty of choice, you should find something you like at every meal. Remember this is Espana and they cater for Spanish people. All the staff are very friendly, you get a 'olla' from every one you meet, including the cleaners who are excellent.
The inclusive package is somewhat needlesly spoiled by 1 or 2 small niggles. Decent tea & coffee is only available at breakfast, the rest of the day there is a vending machine which is free, but who wants machine coffee in Spain and the tea is terrible. You can get propper coffee from the bar, but you have to pay 1 euro a cup.
Unfortunately, they dont know how to look after the beer. It seems they clean the pipes once a week, and you can tell when they have, because its really good that day. it goes down hill from there, getting sour and within a couple of days its best to have a shandy or the shorts. But all in all, its not a bad All Inclusive Package.
The Major dissapointment was the entertainment.
IT WAS DIRE.
During the day it was none existant, in the evening someone put on a CD and pressed the repeat button. (We spent a few early evenings watching TV in our room) on 1 or 2 nights there was one game of BINGO!!!!!!! oh how we laughed.
Despite this, we had a very pleasent holiday, which was good value for money

Just back from the hotel royal costa, I think this is an honest report of the resort.
Booked on-line through hotels 4 u.com. Paid £383.00 for two, 7 days all inclusive!!!. Thats one night in a top london hotel?. Got a flight with British Airways £210.00 for two from Gatwick. so paid just over £600.00 for the week.
On arrival to Malaga airport, walked through the terminal and over the road to the train
station, got a train signed fuengirola and got off 2/3 stops at Los Alomos, cost 1.35 euro each. You can see the hotel from the train. Followed the U shape road to the hotel, took 3 minutes.
On arrival at the hotel, 1st impression was good, clean and tidy, staff dressed nicely and cheerful welcome. I asked for a room with a double bed and not singles and was told no problem, and true to the receptionists word we got a double.
We had room 411 on the 4th floor overlooking the pool, I must say at this point the views over the surrouding area are not the prettyiest. We overlooked a bit of waste ground and the train station, but as it was the train transport link that attracted us to this hotel it was no problem at all.
The food for the first few days reminded me of spain 30 years ago when I first visited spain. Lots of dish es covered in sauces served with chips. even the salads are mixed with sauces or mayo etc. After a few days the food got better with grilled chicken breast or pork steaks and rice/pasta were included. Breakfast was the usual eggs fried or boiled with odd cooked meat items that changed daily,as well as cereals & cold meats ect. We found something enjoyable to eat most meal times although chips or deep fried
battered veg were aways present. Fresh veg was rare which is a shame when you have a nice meat and not much to go with it other than fried food or salad. Still, no complaints from us, we didnt expect the Hilton.
The drinks were fab, im not a beer drinker but did try one and it was fine, the local vodka was very nice and was the same as tesco or sainsbury own brand which we found amazing compared with some spanish hotels weve been to. And the beautiful Olga, the barmaid, put a dash of sunshine in every drink with that big smile and rarely let our glass go empty. Overall this hotel was ok, very international , lots of french/german/spanish oap,s though, so not great for youngsters at nightly entertainment. The best thing was the train link, went all over the costa for a few euros return most ways. A few picky things, no mattresses for the sunbeds, did ache after a while. no shower gel, good job took our own and nightly entertainment not great but hopefully the crazy Elena will get things going right.

When I first arrived at the hotel I was pleasantly surprised, it was clean, tidy, our room was fine and everybody seemed friendly and helpful. It is located literally 5 minutes walk from the train station Los Alamos, which is about 10 minutes from Malaga Airport.(1.45 Euro)
We arrived late evening on Saturday and we just made it for dinner, all the food looked freshly cooked and there was a reasonable selection. All the meals I had in the hotel were fine even though it generally caters for the Spanish palet, which is not surprising because I was in Spain in a hotel mainly used by the Spanish!
The entertainment was a little lacking for the most part, if you play bingo though you can brush up on your Spanish and French numbers because the prizes are not worth winning to be honest.
The best thing about the hotel is its location to the train station, which you would be foolish not to take advantage of, the train runs from Central Malaga to Fuengirola every 30 minutes. The most expensive fare from Los Alamos was 1.55 Euro to Fuengirola where you can catch a ferry to Benalmedina for 8 Euro's and then walk back to Los Alamos, which I would recommend, if you have a cloudy day or go to Malaga I promise you will be nicely surprised at how nice that city is.
If you like a stroll you can walk past the station straight down to the beach front (10 Mins)where you will find numerous resturants and bars(Prices for meals range from 5 to 15 Euro's depending on what you want, try the sardines though or tapas). It takes about 30-40 minutes to plod along to Torremolinos and about 1hr and 30 minutes to get to Benalmedina and it is all along the beach front.
In summary the hotel is better for couples who like to venture out rather than stake themselves to a sunbed drinking and eating there own body weight on all inclusive. The staff are friendly but a little slow at times the pool was nice the grounds are well looked after and spotless. I would recommend this hotel, but remember it is not the Ritz! It is a good Spanish hotel used by a lot of Spanish people especially at the weekends. It does not have a Mitchelin Star for its food so don't expect that quality, believe me you will not starve unless you are incredibly fussy. The rooms are nice and clean and most face the sea and please use the train and explore the other resorts.
