Had a great family holiday at the Riu Costa del Sol. The hotel is very child friendly, we had a 3 year old and an 18 month old in our party and they absolutely loved it. It's very safe for kids and we never had to worry about them. It was quite slippery round the pools if you had bare feet but not an issue if you have footwear on. The splash zone was brilliant and with the door shut you can leave the kids to play and have a much needed rest!

Like most reviews say, the hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff take a lot of pride in their work. They have the hand sanitisers outside all toilets / restaurants and between 8 of us, no one was ill as sometimes happens in these types of hotels. Actually my only real criticism is that the hand dryers aren't the most powerful.. they could do with some Dyson's!

Food is very good. We've been to a few 5* Riu hotels and I won't say the food is as good but its 4* so i didnt expect it to be but was very happy. There is a fair amount of choice so should be enough to please the most fussy of eaters. The Spanish restaurant is basically the main buffet again but had a few extras! The Italian was very nice and it was good to get table service drinks for a change. Breakfast was spot on, nice choice of eggs and the usual foreign bacon / sausage but it's good to have a change! The pancakes and churros were a definite highlight. Anyone moaning at the walk to the buffet from the tables are just plain lazy!

Onto the drinks... the beer was good and cold and the women said the wine was better than expected. There's a few cocktails you could choose from as well which were ok. Mostly local spirits but thats to be expected as well and you get a very good measure. Had to actually ask for a small vodka sometimes :-)

We didn't actually see the main entertainment properly as we were putting kids to bed but it looked as cheesy as you expect from a Riu. The kids entertainment every night was good (basically a bit of a disco and a couple of staff blowing balloons) but the kids loved it.

Rooms were nice and showers were amazing! We were 'upgraded' to a partial sea view but you had to bend over the balcony to see it. Didnt have time to sit on it anyway so wasn't fussed.

Now the best thing about the hotel... the Wifi!! When you have kids that have to watch an ipad / phone at dinner this is very important! I could stream as much teletubbies / in the night garden as we needed to get the kids to eat :-) dont know how we managed when we were kids but these are the times. Also managed to watch the F1 on the ipad so happy. You get a password when you check in which you can have two devices registered and speed was absolutely fine.

Overall a very good hotel, which I would be happy to recommend. Clean, good food, friendly staff. Probably not one for young romantic couples but for families or the golden generation then it is great.

Good hotel, spotlessly clean. Food good, plenty of choice. Staff very friendly. Good location, all on the flat if you have mobility problems Would benefit from a quiet bar which was open after 11pm if you wanted a quiet drink with friends

Hotel - lovely and clean. Great location - 10 mins from the airport, 30 mins walk to Torremolinos town centre and an hour walk to Benalmadina.
Staff - friendly and helpful except when we checked out we didnt even get asked if we had a nice time or bye!? Which I thought was rude.
Food - the best food from a Riu we have had. Great choice, tasty and hot. The specialist restaurants were also good except the Spanish which we thought was very similar to the main restaurant.
Room - clean (except when checking we had got everything when packing) under the bed looked like it hadn't been touched in a while. Very spacious. Free safe and good air con. We paid for a partial sea view but unfortunately we were overlooking a road so didnt spend much time on the balcony. Not worth the money we paid for it. Also the bin men came every day at 6:30 ish and were VERY loud!
Bad points - the entertainment was very much catered for the younger or older generation - very cheesy. The room was not ready when we arrived which I think is unacceptable. Sun beds are too close together by the pools - like a tin of sardines.
Nice for a cheap holiday but wouldn't return.

My wife and I have just returned from an 11night stay at this hotel. On arrival the reception staff were very helpful and also interested in us as guests, the check in was easy and although our room was not ready we were provided with our wrist bands and directed to the two restaurants where lunch was served, both buffet style, and where we could store our luggage, also tickets to get our complimentary towels which could be changed daily. The cleanliness of this hotel is to a high standard and the staff are pleasant and happy to engage with you. Our room was in block 5 at the rear of the hotel overlooking 3 pools, one of which was for children and a separate children’s activity water playpark which was in a separate area. The room had separate toilet and shower rooms which we found convenient. The main area had two large comfortable twin beds, a couch and a fridge with two, one and a half litre bottles of water which you could replace from the bars at any time. The room safe was electronic and free to use. The room has to be vacated by mid day on departure day however there are bookable courtesy rooms which are free to use. The hotel has three restaurants of which two are themed, the Italian is only open in the evening and has a table service for the main meal with buffet for starter and dessert. The other two restaurants are buffet style with one being themed for Spanish and Asian menus for evening meals. All restaurants have chefs on hand to advise of meal ingredients etc. for those with dietary needs, we found all restaurants food to a high standard and a wide variety of choice, you can use the themed restaurants as many time as you want throughout your stay. The dress code for gents in the evening is smart shorts and no sleeveless tops (no vests). There are many bars and drinks stations, the bars have a variety of local spirits and some international drinks as part of the all inclusive. The entertainment team put a lot of work into the daily programme and enjoyable evening shows, of which some shows are brought in. The hotel is approx a half hour walk to the old town of Torremolinos however it is only ten minutes from the airport by coach. There are two nearby train stations with a good service to nearby towns. The Tui reps are based in the hotel and very knowledgeable about the area. This is in our opinion a very good hotel with everything to a very high stand and I would certainly return and recommend to others for an enjoyable relaxing stay.

Room tip: For a sea view ask for the blocks at the front of the hotel, for pool views the reamaining blocks have them.

Lovely clean hotel good food. Great clean pool the only downside it was very dangerous to walk around. The area outside is flat and wheelchair friendly. Be very careful when booking excursions with the Tui reps as they booked me an excursion I couldn’t do. Both reps never noticed I was in a wheelchair?? But they did book me a disabled seat at the front of the bus. The trip was to Gibraltar the tour. It took 3hrs there and 3 hours back. Glad to say we had a full refund but still a waste of a day.
