“Well run all-inclusive with good amenities”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

Spacious room - I paid for the sea view and got a slightly larger room on the 3rd floor. Reasonable shower, comfortable bed and an OK TV.

Food is buffet style, but a huge variety and the quality seemed fine.

Outside, there's a covered terrace area and then a pool area. Both have self-serve bars with Cruz Campo beer on tap as well as a variety of other drinks.

Only went to one free evening event, but it was fine - and was well attended.

spent a week at the Belplaya 5th-12th april. we had a lovely time. the hotel is excellent.we arrived at lunch time, our room was ready. after unpacking we went for lunch there is so much choice, from soups salads, hot food, and desserts, evening meal was just as good,no two days were the same, breakfast full english cold meat and cheese, fruit different breads, and a diet
section be prepared to ditch the diet. my husband was really impressed with beer being on tap to help yourself you can also help yourself to soft drinks tea and coffee.plus wine in restaurant. All the staff are all lovely, helpful, and couldnt do enough for you.the hotel was very clean in all areas, the bedroom was spacious and well aquiped, there are plenty of sunbeds around pool, dont think they will be enough in summer. The hotel is a bit out of the way but in walking distance of bars and restaurants.we met some lovely people. we would highly recommend this hotel go and enjoy we did.

Hotel was very clean staff friendly great food - excellent variety. Unfortunately the end of our week was spoilt by some very rude guests. I understand hotels need business but must they book in large groups of men who obviously cannot exercise any self control when faced with free or all inclusive drink? My wife was even subject to one english man throwing a beveridge at her. We did complain. The same day at dinner the same group of men staggered around the restaurant making us feel very uncomfortable.

Just returned from 2 weeks in Torremolinos, Hotel very clean, all staff Very friendly and helpful,
The food was good and plenty of variety, the only complaint was there was Garlic on most of the vegetables, eg carrots, Broccoli. cauliflower and potatoes (we hate Garlic) Our room faced the pool so we had the sun in the afternoon, if you like walking its quite a way from the main area of
Torremolinos which we didnt mind at all, we actually walked as far as Benalmadena, but there is a bus into town right outside the Hotel, and the train station is not far, so we went to Malaga and Fuengirola, takes about 25 minutes. We did put our names down for a free blanket trip to Malaga but the coach never turned up, so I wouldnt bother with this, also we never saw our holiday rep after the welcome meeting, and no notification of when she would be at her desk, would just like to say how brilliant the young entertainment girl was, from arranging games for children, running rifle shooting, boules and other activities as well as the evening entertainment in the bar, so congratulations ZOE your doing a great job.

Room Tip: Our room looked over terrace and pool bar,was quiet and got afternoon sun.

I can only praise this hotel for excellent service. We had a fabulous week over Easter. Nice room with separate lounge area with settee over looking the pool. Great for all inclusive, the food was excellent quality with a wide range to choose from. There was a great choice of drinks including cocktails on the AI menu. The bar service was prompt and the staff were friendly as I spoke to them in Spanish. Excellent location for public transport, bus stop is opposite hotel, takes 10 minutes to Torremolinos town centre. The train station is a 10 minute walk away, where you can travel to Malaga. We took the train to Fuengirola, which took 25 minutes, clean spacious trains with plenty of seats, a really pleasant journey. I would certainly return to this hotel.

This was my second time of visiting this hotel in less than 5 months. Again staff and food were amazing. Still able to use the wi fi I brought when here last. But if you want free wi fi get a drink at one of the little restaurants outside the hotel and get their wi fi password and you can pick it up inside of the pool area of the hotel, still very disappointed with the evening entertainment which could be improved. There is a big wait from when you have the first dinner sitting till the entertainment comes on at 2115. A bit of music or a little quiz could be put on in between, this hotel is not ideal for children. Apart from the entertainment the hotel is one of the best I have been too. Yes the hotel looks very tired but having friendly staff, very clean and great food is a massive factor too. If I'm back here again I will come here again. Thank you for a great stay.

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet room and got one.

Yet another horror check-in fiasco with Thomsons left us wondering whether these people really value our custom or not !!!! We were at Glasgow at 03.45hrs for a 06.00hrs flight to Malaga....we eventually were checked in at 05.10hrs, leaving a bit of a rush out to the departure gate. The excuse given was that the girl on check in " was a new starter and still training".....well why not get one of the other reps who stood around at the front of the queue looking pretty to give her a hand !!!!!
We had calmed down by the time we arrived at Malaga for the 15 minute transfer to the Belplaya, where first impressions lived up to typical Riu hospitality.....a courteous reception, a cooling glass of fresh orange and a prompt check-in meant we were unpacked and beside the pool by 13.00hrs local time. The reception area is cool and spacious with several large arm chairs / settees which also act as a lounge area in the evening, the staff manning it efficient, knowledgeable and, above all friendly. I don't know how Riu do it, but, having been on holiday in several of their hotels around the world, we have yet to encounter anything but friendly, outgoing and happy staff.....they're without doubt Riu's biggest asset and what draws us back time after time.
The hotel itself is a bit dated but generally in a good state of repair, especially the public areas. Apart from the reception / lounge area, there is quite a big room / bar area where the evening entertainment takes place...on occasion it did get a bit hard to find a seat, which was a bit surprising as most of the entertainment in the evening was a bit "cheesy " and finished with a DJ playing music in a usually vain attempt to get somebody up dancing. However, you should bear in mind that this was April time when most of the clientel, including ourselves, are approaching pension age and beyond....it could perhaps be more lively in the summer. Still, the bars are well staffed and the drinks very strong, so the entertainment improves as the night goes on.
The bedroom we were allocated was very roomy, on the third floor overlooking the pool area and with a sideways sea-view. .......it had a fridge but take your own brewing equipment if you like tea or coffee first thing, there are none provided.
The pool area is a sun-trap, roomy with plenty of beds and parasols, and none of the early morning "towel on the bed brigade". Despite there being a mix of German, French, British, Dutch and other nationalities, everyone whilst we were there seem to mix and get on very well, even if we did struggle to understand each other at times.
Foodwise, there was plenty of everything at all mealtimes and you would have to be really fussy not to find something you liked. I would suggest eating your fill at mealtimes, as the "snacks" that are served during the day are a bit limited in choice.....but maybe I'm just being a bit too greedy!!!
The hotel is non-smoking in all areas apart from a lovely terrace just outside the reception area, probably one of the nicest outdoor seating areas but very unpleasant if you're not a smoker.....but that's my only complaint of a lovely hotel which we can throughly recommend, with it's greatest asset being the wonderful staff......well done to them.
The return journey was again ruined by Thomson's inefficient check-in staff, meaning that, altho' we were transferred to the airport on time, check in took so long that it was "last calls for Glasgow" by the time we got to the departure gate
