“great location”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

lovely hotel in a great location, right on the seafront with a great prom to walk along about 15min walk from Torremolinos. The hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly, food is very good with a good selection for everyone from children to adults. The only down side is the rush each morning for sun beds, 8.30am and its like a watching the first day of the sales in Oxford street, with adults jumping the wall to get a sunbed and the spot they want. Some even put towels down under the umbrellas before getting a sun bed. Truly funny to watch, but very annoying if you require sun beds for the children. There are signs all around saying no reserve of sun beds, so if the hotel enforced this it would make a far better hotel. Don't let that put you off though, a 2 min walk to a fab beach is far better than sitting by a pool. Would definitely return.

The pool area and number of sunbeds is insufficient for the size of the hotel. As a result, guests start 'queueing' (with multiple towels in their hands) from 8am. As soon as the arrogant security guard gives the nod - at about 8.45am - the most ridiculous scramble for the sunbeds starts, with people leaping over the walls surrounding the pool area and literally running to the stack of beds. I could only lift one at a time for myself and my two teenage daughters (one of whom had a broken arm in a cast) but most families sent the men down who could grab 3-6 at a time and woe betide anyone who got in their way. One morning I slipped on the wet, tiled floor and got trampled in the rush, nobody wasting time on basic manners!! In order to have any chance of getting a sunbed, you need to be prepared to set your alarm clock early and sharpen your elbows. Not my idea of a stress free start to each morning. As much as I hated this, it was the only option if you wanted to be by the pool/snack bar/bar for which we'd paid. Incidentally, all this happens within about 2 minutes; after that, the pool area is deserted again once everyone has 'reserved' their sunbeds and gone off for breakfast, despite signage stating that reserving sunbeds wasn't allowed.

The food was OK - standard all inclusive stuff, although we went to the restaurant as soon as it opened for breakfast at 8am and for dinner at 7pm otherwise it was so busy that you had to queue for everything and there were so many people milling about that it wasn't a very pleasant or relaxed experience.

The room was fine, the beds were made and room cleaned daily. However, my bed was so hard and uncomfortable that I found a blanket in the wardrobe and put it under the bottom sheet to afford a bit of padding!!

Hotel location OK, although 20/30 mins walk from the resort centre, opposite a nice beach (you need to pay for sunbed hire at the beach if you don't get up early enough for one at the pool!)

We had a nice time overall, but I wouldn't return to this hotel. My idea of a holiday is to get away from alarm clocks, stressful situations and ill mannered folk.

Enjoyed a very comfortable week at this hotel, the room was excellent with fabulous views of the sea. The food was of a very high standard indeed with something for everyone. The drinks were all free on an all inclusive deal as were snacks at the poolside (all delicious). Hotel was clean and bright and the facilities were very good. Positioned on the beach and a gentle stroll in to town and further on to Carihuela. Tremendous value for money my only minor criticism would be the scramble for poolside sun loungers was a bit of a farce in the morning. (note to management ....If you have a rule about not saving sun loungers then you need to enforce this as it can be frustrating when you are the only people by the pool and every sun lounger bed is reserved by having a towel on it ) Otherwise a very safe and sound holiday choice with nice friendly staff. Well done Hotel Puente Real !!

Room Tip: We were in the main hotel in room 2310 it had excellent views and was a re-furbished unit and very c...

A nice hotel with decent food and extremely clean. The downfall of this hotel is the pool is too small for such a large hotel. I visited the hotel at the end of june 2013 with my 75 year old mother we were never able to sit around the pool as you had to be a burly six foot man to be able to nab a sunbed every morning. it was pointless being all inclusive as it is too much trouble carrying drinks across to the beach every day. Also because of my mums age it seemed unfair when she needed the toilet/drinks etc. It is a hotel that is mainly focussed on family particularly children. The pool bar staff are very rood and would carry on chatting to each other regardless of queues.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms near the pool bar as they are very noisy. Although the music is so loud they are probabl...

I spent 5 nights at the Hotel Real with my girlfriend and we had a fantastic time. The hotel was clean, staff were really friendly and overall I'd recommend it! My only criticism was that the pool area was quite small, so everyone was fighting for a sunbed everyday. This didn't really affect things though as the huge beach is literally across the road.

I've always said i will put a review on TA but this is first time I've bothered.

On arriving at midnight i was given a little map to an apartment told to go out the door walk past pool, that's when the nightmare began, backwards & forwards dragging cases trying to find it in the dark, when we eventual found it we walked inside a furnace no Aircon, as it didn't work a toilet that didn't stop flushing, a tiny bedroom with no cupboards, camp beds too say i was disgusted & wound up is putting it mildly, went to reception next morning after sleepless night got a room in main hotel which was very large at extra 6e a night for 2, no problem with the room whatsoever, but when i booked i thought this was what we were getting no a room in an apartment like some Spanish council flat it should be advertised as an Aparthotel, the apartment side 2* the hotel side 3*.
The pool area is too small for the amount of guests towels out all day by usual sad suspects who never go out the entrance of hotel for whole stay, but a fantastic beach across the road so didn't need pool area, nice area around bar & good that you could help yourself AI, but spoiled by grating loud club music, the main guy in snack bar deserves a special mention always smiling friendly & can see he enjoys his job a real hardworker.
The biggest let down is the restaurant, its utter chaos & needs looking at by management i was like a circus feeding time at the zoo, kids doing handstands running round under your feet (not hotels fault but parents) they should have 2 sitting for breakfast & evening meal everyone pours in with half hour to go on each meal, the having to search for cutlery made the chaos worse & walk length of restaurant to get own wine etc: The food was ok although nearly same everyday, a special mention to Tania who was always smiling and chatted, no probs with any staff even though most looked fed up probably with the chaos going on alaround them.
Can't comment on entertainment outside because didn't go as don't like drinking out of plastic cups, inside it was dreadful tv on with a shopping channel, bar staff friendly also work hard.
sorry to go on but no i wouldn't stay again unless the restaurant for one was sorted. As said no way a 4*

Not quite there

This hotel is advertised as 4 star, also has 4 star rating advertised outside. Well, sorry but it is definitely NOT 4 star a good 2 star would be nearer the mark. Clean enough but just not up to standard.

We were given an apartment on our arrival, the room was at the rear of the complex as far away from all the amenities as possible. I visited reception next day to request a room nearer the hotel and was given a free upgrade to a room on the second floor of the hotel overlooking the pool. This was excellent and really appreciated pity the rest of our stay did not match up.

Pool, well just a joke. A security guard would stand legs spread hand on hips sneering at all the guests first thing in the morning (just needed a hat Cain to complete the look) what a jobs worth!!. On our first week towels were being placed on sunbeds at around 6.00am. Not good but you could usually get a bed around 8.00. Second week pool was locked and sunbeds chained up, this did not help in fact it made the situation worse as holidaymakers were queuing at the gates at around 7.30 in the hot sun and having to wait until 8.45 to be allowed in. The problem is NOT towels on sunbeds it is not enough sunbeds and too small a pool for the number of guests.

Food was OK but again not 4 star. Very repetitive the best meal of the day was breakfast. The pool bar did service a good variety of food and the cook worked very very hard. One good this about this hotel was that all inclusive guests could help themselves to cold soft drinks, wine and beer from a self-service bar at the pool bar and in the restaurant.

All in all quite good but not quite 4 star, shame as it has a good location and great weather.

Room Tip: Don't book an apartment
