We chose this hotel due to it's location and were not disappointed.

We were allocated a room (a little dated) overlooking the sea on the first floor close to the stairs and due to it's proximity to Reception it was at times quite noisy but not unbearable. The cleanliness in the hotel was first class and we were provided each day with clean, fresh towels. There was not a Refrigerator in the room which would have been useful and the Bar in Reception was not manned during our stay which was a shame as we often enjoy a drink before dinner or on our return in the evening.

All of the staff were friendly and helpful particularly Susanna on Reception and Antonio and Eduardo in the restaurant, we found the food and service to be very good.

Thanks for a lovely week, we will return!

Lovely hotel nice & clean, pleasant and helpful staff, great breakfasts, small but clean and maintained pool & gardens, great beach bar too. Central location for walking to Torremolinos, Benalmadena marina, short walk to the main road for local buses to all towns along the coast. Hotel is situated right next to La Caruhuela area so lots of choice for nightlife. Great strip of beach.

This was my 4th visit to the Tropicana, this year my friend came with me who needed a wheel chair. On arrival the prebooked chair was there waiting for us, they had booked us in to rooms on the ground floor but moved us after 2 days to the 5th, which had a great view over the sea and pool.Access to the hotel was fine with a small lift if we wanted. The breakfast was good as usual, the only thing was the bar not being open in the lobey but i guess this was because it was late in the season. The area around the hotel was nice and flat so pushing my friend around after a couple of beers was fine, overall the hotel and area was great .

Room Tip: rooms on the left facing the hotel next door may have a little noise but a great view of the sunrise

Very good location and very charming with lots of character.
We stayed there on a half board basis .. room 514 and as previously noted by other reviews the views were super and balcony more than adequate. Room was clean and spacious enough to meet our needs but the lack of tea and coffee making facilities was a draw back.
The breakfast was the same fare every day for the 9 days we stayed.. big on quantity but very poor quality.. in addition you had to queue in the morning for the very slow coffee dispenser which also served the milk and hot water to make tea. The coffee was awful and the toaster took forever. The buffet staff were not overly friendly either. The evening meal was equally awful, being plentiful on quantity but poor on quality and usually bland and luke warm. Half board does not entitle you to tea, coffee or water at the evening buffet... the waiter's are not interested in you unless you are ordering a drink from them. We were expecting some lush Mediterranean food choices.. even some of the fruit was out of a tin ! There was no bar in the Hotel either !
I wouldn't say that we wouldn't return to stay as this place has lots of charm ...just don't expect too much from the food. I would not consider this a 4* hotel...but would certainly think it is a little gem with the potential to be.

Room Tip: Rooms facing toward the sea with a balcony

I am currently sitting by the pool at the tropicana on my last day of a 7 day visit overall the hotel is situated in a very good location the staff are very pleasant and helpful & the place is very clean however disappointed with the room. The tv has only 2 English channels one bbc news & the other an American news channel, no tea or coffee making facilities, a noisy fan on the ceiling & in my personal opinion the room is quite basic & I've stayed in better 2 star accommodation a couple of miles away. The restaurant was pleasant and very clean but don't entertain the idea of booking half board if you or your partner are vegetarian as my wife is, when we asked about vegetarian options we were pointed towards the pasta that contained ham on some nights and fish on others.
Overall a nice place to stay but don't expect 4 star standards would I stay here again ? Maybe but next time my expectations may not be so much

We booked this hotel for the August Bank Holiday weekend. We arrived late at night but check-in was done nice and quickly. We were given room 216 on the first floor which was fine. It was spacious and clean with plenty of storage space, including drawers. There was a small fridge which worked well. However, the air-con con could have been a bit more efficient, but the ceiling fan helped to keep us cool.
When we woke we were able to explore a bit more. Our room overlooked the pool and the beach which was a real bonus and a reasonable sized balcony.
We had also booked breakfast as it was a good price and although not as plentiful as the larger hotels, it was sufficient for our needs. Mostly continental, but there was bacon, sausage and scrambled egg if required. The small restaurant has an African feel to it and can get busy after 9.30 am.
There is a fair sized pool, which was was nice and clean although the gardens were small and can become shady as the day goes on.
The hotel is situated on The Carihuela and only yards from the beach. This is an ideal location to explore the area around including all the restaurants and bars.
Sunbeds and parasols are 4.50 euros a day and the mattresses are nice and thick and comfortable.
There is also a beach bar attached to the hotel which is reasonable to both eat and drink in.
We booked a late check out and this is 50% of the daily rate. The safe was 2.50 euros a day, plus a deposit and there are also beach towels available too.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and if we were to go back to Torremolinos, we would probably stay here again.

Room Tip: This hotel only has about 85 rooms and most face the sea. Others would probably overlook the hotel n...

My husband and I have stayed at the Tropicana before, about 5 years ago when it was absolutely brilliant, so we decided to have a 4 day break in July but must say how disappointed we were with the hotel on this occasion. Cannot understand how it retains a 4* status, as it only has a small garden with a swimming pool - nothing else. There is a bar but it was never open whilst we were there despite a notice stating it opens from 8pm - 1am everyday. If you wanted a drink during the day you had to go out of the grounds to a supermarket or visit one of the bars along the promenade. The food was not very good - the majority of it being cold and no microwave available to heat it up. The only hot food available at every dinner was the soup. Breakfast was the same and unfortunately only scrambled or hard boiled eggs available to go with your cold bacon, not a fried egg in sight! The best thing about this hotel was the bedroom. Very spacious with comfortable beds and sea views.

Room Tip: Room 314 with very good sea view
