“Great hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2014

Just returned on the 16 the Jan after 10 nights at the Marconfort beach club the entertainment is fantastic compared to all the the other hotels I have been to for a long time, the food is excellent. Rooms cleaned every day,and friendly staff. The hotel it's self is really nice.Best rooms are overlooking the pool the sun is on the balcony all day until the early evening. They have entertainment on in the piano bar now as well as the Magnum Bar so you have a choice and the bar is open to all inclusive until midnight .The only thing I think is wrong is the seating plan in the Magnum Bar the seating is like cinema seating in rows with small tables for your drinks but if you are in company as most people are you don't feel together or able to chat like you can upstairs in the piano bar even though I no they have done this so everyone can see it doesn't feel right as a lot of people has commented on this, overall a good choice of holiday.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking pool are a must for sun seekers sun on balcony all day until early evening

A party of 6 included family [adults] and a close friend of ours. Always looking forward to new year in the sun, we were not disappointed, indeed some of our party thought that this one week break [30th Dec 013 - January 6th 014] was the best weather that we have had. [Been abroad now for 18 years] Temperatures approx mid to late 60.s and our hotel sunbed was used for 4 days from 7.
The hotel was just what we wanted, relaxed and all staff helpful to our requests or queries. Rooms chosen [4 in total with double rooms also allocated to 2 single party members!] were spacious, clean and comfortable. Maintenance of the room acceptable and hotel areas all clean, spacious and plenty of different areas to please all.
Dining room was accessible with no problems with table selection and during stay the buffet style was as required. All food produced was varied, plentiful and tasty! Chef open cooking was available and the variety of food and daily choices was good.
Our main reason for the break was our usual Gala dinner at the hotel which each year, where ever we are is one of the highlights of our chill break.
Firstly, we were aware that the facility in the Dining room was self service style and indeed that was the case on New Years eve. The food was excellent, choice, taste and very well presented as a Gala Meal.
However, after the meal we expect a good Entertainment programme. The Hotel had a programme but we were unable to enjoy and be part of the arranged entertainment.
The programme was in a basement area with in adequate seating for all guests, no management/control of the evening was taken on by the hotel staff.
We, with others sat and entertained ourselves in a reception area with a bar but without any participation of the New Year event. We made our own Spanish count down with the 'Grapes [that we had to find downstairs] at 12 spanish time and at 1.00 am spanish time for the uk new year time. We sang, danced and drank with others and the new year came in.
Our usual experience of New Year at other Hotels has usually had a CLEAR format, understandable knowledge of the Gala meal and entertainment from the Management and a presence of Management/staff to host the Hotel's entertainment to its guests.

Holiday enjoyable for a chill out with good weather, food and drink and good walks to the main areas of Torromolinos. The location of the hotel is in a quite beach front area with a lengthy promenade to enjoy walks and a few bar / restaurants on the way.

Pity about the 31st December entertainment, but next time where ever we will do a little bit more research!

Room Tip: When booking in, ask about room options.

We stayed at the Beach Club over New Year
The hotel is really trying to live up to its 4 star rating but doesn't quite make it. It has some of the things that I'm sure get ticked off when ratings are totted up, like linen napkins and champagne available at breakfast, but then they slip up on important items like vacuuming of the carpets in corridors and public areas etc and leaving the clearing of debris that accumulated outside for hours.
We were on the 9th floor which was a quiet place to be. Room was rather basic and the bathroom a little shabby, I got the impression that there was a shortage of housekeeping staff as just the basics were done every day. The wall mounted tv had several BBC and ITV channels available...but no information was given by the hotel as to what channel numbers they were, so it was a question of trial and error on the remote ( why not have print out of channels in each room!)
Public areas were grubby as mentioned but ok. The restaurant was fine, serving what you expect from all inclusive 3 / 4 star and the gala dinner on New Years Eve was pretty good.
On a Winter holiday, you spend longer actually inside the hotel so things like entertainment become more important than say in the Summer. The main evening entertainment was held in a gloomy function room in the basement, there were different outside artists each night supported by bingo and usually some kind of quiz. The standard of acts was ok, apart from one young lady who ended up with an audience of 11. On alternate evenings there was another singer performing on the ground floor piano bar, which gave an alternative. Sadly on New Years Eve the only entertainment was in the basement which seemed a bit silly and sadly the performer wasn't the best..but hey...there was a good firework display outside at midnight.
As mentioned elsewhere some of the house spirits had a rather dubious taste and a couple of times I wondered what was in my glass!
The arrival of the 4 Dutch football teams really didn't cause us a problem..although we heard that people with bedrooms on the same floors endured some noisy goings on during the night.
One thing that struck my wife and I as strange, was that on the stroke of midnight (all inclusive) guests on New Years Eve, guests had to start paying for drinks which caused chaos as most people hadn't brought down any money with them...long delays and much grumpiness ensued. I thought it was rather mean as hotels charge quite a hefty surcharge for Christmas & New Year "gala dinners"
The hotel is an excellent base for touring the area by bus or trains which are cheap, regular and clean...and we able to do so as the weather was pretty good

My wife & I stayed for a week, over New Year. The hotel has the smallest sign in Spain, a small temporary or so it looks) sign, on the side of the main building. Drove past it 3 times looking for it!
The hotel is clean, rooms very basic but comfortable enough. Good selection of UK TV channels on a flat screen TV. The food is quite good, if a little bland.
We stayed on an all inclusive basis. I have a personal dislike of plastic vessel's being used in the bar, so this hotels policy of using them excessively (even for Cava!), did not go down well. I'm not sure what Gin they use but it didn't taste anything like the Gin I would normally drink!

During the last 3 days of our stay, several Dutch teenage Football teams arrived and the evenings became a little boisterous! I actually had a teenage girl ask if she could travel in the lift with us as she was afraid of them!

In conclusion, the hotel offers reasonable value for money but is more like a 3 star than a 4.

Room Tip: Go for a higher floor (quieter).

This was a short break for my birthday. The location of this hotel is excellent, at the quiet end of Torremolinos. It is just a short 6 minute ride by train from Malaga airport and only 3.5 euros fare for the two of us. It is only a short stroll from La Colina station to the hotel, and it was just wonderful walking past orange trees laden with fruit, the oranges all over the pavement and roads. The weather was just magical for this time of year with bright blue sky and very warm all the time we were there - I had to go and buy sunscreen. The hotel is very clean and tidy and we were impressed with the new lifts. We had a small problem with our original room and we were moved with no problems. There is a good selection of food at mealtimes and we have always liked the views over the beach from the restaurant. It is lovely to see different nationalities at the Beach Club, especially Spanish. Thank you Beach Club.

Stayed at Marconfort Beach Club Hotel from 26th December - 4th January for New years Eve celebrations. On arriving at Hotel we were met by a very nice gentleman who had my email that i had sent them before our stay requesting a room with the sun on balcony, this request was met so thank you very much. The hotel is lovely and clean and the food was lovely, our new years eve gala buffet was excellent very well organised and staff very helpful and polite. Room was nice and clean towels changed every other day but these could be changed every day if necessary. Hotel is right on sea front across the raod and you are at the beach, bus stop riight outside hotel and train station ten minute walk from hotel. My husband and i went on the train to malaga ten euros return for two it was a lovely place to visit. Would like to thank all staff at Marconfort for a very enjoyable holiday and hope to see you all again for new year.

Room Tip: If travelling in winter months would suggest requesting room with sun on balcony

The hotel is a short distance from the airport, we were there before we new it. A great warm welcome from the hotel administrator.it was really nice to have something to eat after a long day, which they put on at 10:30. The indoor swimming pool is ver small. The hotel was clean with exceptional hygiene, you had a spay to use after the toilets as well as when you entered the dinning room, the head waiter made sure you used it. Apart from one blond lady the dinning room staff were not very social, but the waitress was very good. The food was not exceptional but very good, a fair selection with mouthwatering deserts, fish and meat. The gala Christmas meal was good but early, which meant that you could not do it justice, if it was in the evening it would be better. The New year meal was good and enjoyable. Outside the Bar staff were exceptional, what a great bunch, joking with the cliental, were very friendly, even the happy Maria, who was smiling, singing and dancing whilst doing a great job. Also the cleaners were very pleasant, talkative, and good at their Job, these both were a credit to the hotel. On the downside, the hotel could be drafty due to a broken window frame, the hotel lacked like previous reviews atmosphere due to a lack of decorations, but the did try their best with party hats, and bags. Another point, it sad that all inclusive should mean all inclusive, the hotel failed to tell guests that after twelve at new year they would have to pay for drinks, this would have stopped some of the abuse the poor bar staff had and stopped some of the upset. It is a shame there is not much were the hotel is, but it would be great in warmer weather. All in all though a good hotel.
