Got back from the Sol Timor yeasterday with my mate and found it to be a pretty good hotel. The staff were helpful and speak good English. Our studio appartment was smallish with a compact balcony including 2 chairs and a small table and excellent views of the ocean. The cooking area is basic. Sink-2 hob stove- small fridge-basic cuttlery, pans etc. Room cleaned on a regular basis with new sheets and towels.
Being sports nuts, we enjoyed the tennis courts- 10 euros p/h with rackets and balls included. Sun loungers are 2.5 euro's p/d, so we just took towels onto the grass. Internet is expensive- 2 euro's for 15 mins. TIP Use Brogans cafe up the road on the corner at 1 euro for 20 mins. Pool entertainment includes water aerobics and water polo, and there's football on the tennis courts for the kids.
It was warm at night, so hired a fan for 10 euro's p/w (30 euro'sdeposit) SMALL portable air con is about 50 euro's for a week) TIP Take earplugs for the noisy fan, we did and got a reasonable sleep with a nice breeze! Didn't encounter any great noise at night, apart from my mate's trapped wind (from both ends!)
There's a Barclays cashpoint right next door to the hotel which was handy. I's say English/Irish dominated the hotel numbers, but there are also plenty of Spanish there.
It's an ideal family resort for those who just want average accomodation and entertainment, in exchange for an average budget.
Have a great time folks!
