“Great new hotel - disgusting town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2009

We stayed four nights in september and although there was a lot of people we had always a chair at the swimming pool. Very nice pool and when relaxing you dont hear the rumour of the street.
... Do not forget to go to the roof, there is a covered pool, a sauna and seets!!
Although 4 elevators you can wait some time to have one.

Big rooms with large beds, very nice bathroom and nice view on the pool and (a bit) of the sea (hotel completely refreshed in 2007). Breakfast buffet was very fine: You could eat healty with a lot of fruit and yoghurt or you can eat english with pan cakes, bacon, saucisse, eggs ...

Most negative:
The hotel was beautiful but Torremolinos itself is disgusting: durty, old, does not smell well in the streets, ugly handly made beach and no nice restaurants.

The solution: we stayed allmost every day at the hotel and had our evening meal there as well. This was lovely though!! First night we payed 30Euro at the beach for a simple dish: Chicken brochette with fries (no vegetables). But for 35Euro we had a rice buffet at the hotel that was every day a bit different (cold and hot vegetables, choices of soup, choices of fish and meat, paella and a lot of deserts).

Conclusion:
Hotel: We should go there again immediately, it was super!
Torremolinos: Never again !

just spent three days in cervantes hotel and had a wonderful time.hadn't been to the area before so didn't know what to expect.hotel has been recently refurbished and was really lovely and modern inside.rooms were just as you would expect but very clean.because we were just there to chill we really appreciated the roof terrace and pool with its wonderful views.hotel was in a great location right next to restaurants and shops.only downside was the entertainment in the hotel which was geared towards the spanish guests.

Just had a short break at The Cervantes with my Mum

Bearing in mind, I got a great deal for 4nights. In return for what we paid it was very good value.

Bar, reception and meal areas all very modern

Rooms, mine wasnt refurbished. But it was fine, Basic, clean and had a clean bathroom with Powerful shower. Beds very hard!

Pool area, average, but I never used the pool area - just headed to beach

Only really ate breakfast, did have dinner and lunch once - all fine though.

All in all good break - would go again providing the deal was good again.

Normally we plan holidays with meticulous care but we ended up at the Cervantes hotel as we needed a last minute hotel and it was one of the few with vacancies. As such our expectations were not high but we were pleasantly surprised.

The rooms are big and well equipped. Our balcony was enormous and the sea view was lovely particularly in the evening. Rooms had a mini fridge which was much appreciated.

The food was excellent as was the service. Pool was good.

The Cervantes has a large underground parking lot which they don't charge guests for. It is secure and a number of the other hotels charge around 15euros a day for parking.

Torremolinos itself was a pleasant surprise we expected. The beach is lovely and the bars and shops are geared for tourists without being tacky!!

All in all we would happily return.

Brill location, lovely hotel, staff not bad but should smile a bit more . around the corner from train station and shops, we walked down steps to beach with shops all the way down and got the lift back up 50cent per person my 8 year old free. The sea was pretty rough never went swimming in it.4.50 to rent sunbed on beach but really comfortable, food at hotel lovely caters for everyone, very small pool for toddlers, main pool big enough as theres one on rooftop with great views Tivoli world 1 stop away on train which is very cheap but is dearer at weekends that is a lovely day out opens at 6pm The only downfall was the resteraunt manager decided to put a notice up 4days into our stay about evening wear for men, trousers had to be worn longer then the knee and my teenage son had three quarter lenghs on and he was refused in .Icomplained to the main manager who found nothing wrong with them and he sorted it out especially when a spanish man had shorter and he was let in. Entertainment rubbish went out but all in all great shopping galore

when looking for a nice holiday to spain i spotted this hotel and thought it looked very flash. The images shown everywhere show you a flash reception, impressive pool, and sea view rooms.

On arrival, despite seaview request we were allocated in two rooms facing over a town square at the back. The reception was very disapointing, every time i needed something there would be a queue atleast 10 people long with an average waiting time of minimum 20 minutes. When we arrived on our first day at 2pm we were told our rooms were still not prepared and to return at a later time, the staff spoke to us as if we were a nuisance.

The general lounge looks very flash, however is actually just very cold. Not the type of place you would like to sit at night and socialise, all black and white colours.

The room was basic, with a good sized balcony, powerful shower in bath, clean comfortable beds and tv provided with regular sports/news channels.

We opted for the half board basis, which was sufficient. Something different on every night, salads, meats, one warm soup dish and breads. Drinks charged seperately. Food was fine and cooked well but definitely boring towards the end of a one week stay.

The pool looks lovely in photo's, but staying at the last week in June was packed with people, and in a group of 5 it took some moving about to get a group of 5 in a row! Largely a place for families and very few english speaking people there, not a great place to go if you wish to mingle.

Nearby area is ok, Benalmadena 24 hour square was good for our age for nightlife (all in our 20's) and food everywhere was fine but costly. The beach was a steep walk down 186 steps as counted by someone trodding back one day, although lovely and worth the walk!

The lifts were possibly the biggest annoyance within the hotel, you could be waiting over five minutes on a lift and having to walk from the fifth floor to basement for dinner was very annoying. When a lift ever did finally open it was full of 6/7 people and not worth attempting to get into.

All in all, a nice hotel but service let it down in some departments and I will not plan to return in a hurry.

My friends and I have just returned from a 5 night stay at Hotel Cervantes. The location of the hotel is fantastic! Right in the centre of town, literally a couple of minutes walk from shops, restaurants and bars. The sea can be seen from the hotel, and the beach is not far away at all.

There is a lift to take you down to the beach if you don't fancy walking, this costs 50cents each way. There are also stairs to take you down. I have read a lot of reviews where people moan about the stairs, but us being nimble 20somethings, did the walk down in under 10 mins and back up i just over 10 mins. There are a variety of shops and cafes along route that you can stop off in.

The beach itself is clean and the water is clear. We hired sunbeds one morning at a rate of 4Euro per bed for the whole day, with a parasol. The friendly man comes round and will get you drinks from one of the nearby bars.

Back to the hotel. The reception area is wonderfully clean and modern. Lots of seating areas, and two large bar areas too. My only complain about the bars is that one of the barmen was incredibly moody - all the others were lovely and friendly. My one tip would be to avoid the cocktails though - unless you klike Martini Rosso which seemed to be the staple ingredient in all of them!

The swimming pool was fine for us, as we went slightly out of peak season. However, I think that during the peak times there would be a shortage of sunbeds and the pool no quite large enough for the capacity the hotel holds. There was a lifeguard on duty at all times and great staff on hand to provide entertainment including aqua aerobics, water polo, etc.

There is a second pool on the roof of the hotel which was smaller and much quieter. I think a lot of the older gusts spent time up here away from the children playing in the pool. There was also a small fitness area with a weights machine and a cross trainer.

We stayed on a B&B basis. The breakfast was plentiful in choice. You could have cooked breakfast each day, or continental. There was something to suit every taste. The breakfast was the same each day, which I'm sure some will find repetitive, but for us it suited just fine. There are hot beverages available, and the usual juices served in teeny tiny glasses.

Our room was a tad basic, and given the modern feel to the rest of the hotel, I think the rooms are in need of a bit of an update. The door was not controlled by a key card, and had normal keys. However, we were only issued one between three of us, which was a bit annoying. We were also not supplied with a key card for using the electrics in the room, so had to pop our nectar card in instead. No big deal, but a little detail that some might find irritating.

The bathroom was a decent size, and consisted of the usual toilet, sink, bath with shower attachment and a bidet. The bathroom door was creaky and in need of oiling, and our bath plus didn't quite fit the hole. Just two small niggles.

There are safes provided in each room, however, you will need to pay for use of it down at reception where they will give you the code needed to activate it. Given that it is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, i think paying for the safe is a tad cheeky.

Air con is in each room, however, in order to get it to work you have to make sure the balcony doors are shut tightly. his might sound obvious, but even if you think the door is shut it might not be, and will stop the aircon working.

I would certainly recommend this hotel, it's location is fantastic, and despite my small complaints regarding the room, unless you are planning to spend loads of time in your bedroom, then this hotel is pretty much perfect!
