Stayed at this hotel back in October 2012, and returned in February this year with my sister. One of our missions should be choose to accept was to do a reccy on behalf of other family members as we'd all booked flights back to Malaga in April.

We looked at Griego Mar (good hotel but a bit out of the way), Al Andalus (it was closed for the winter but was way way out of the way anyway) and another one, which was so unimpressive, I can't even remember its name. So our unanimous decision was for us all to return to Cervantes again in April.

We found the food to be very very good this time and particularly liked the fact that you could just help yourself to a bottle of wine for your table in the restaurant. Bar staff was very courteous and helpful. Our main love of this hotel though is the location, as I said in my last review. You can't fault it, the side entrance goes straight onto the pedestrianised squares (my husband was greatly relieved to hear this as he worries about me crossing those Spanish roads after a few B&C's - Ha! Ha!

We arrived on the Saturday and, yes, there were a lot of Spanish, and yes, they were a bit rude in the dining room, but hey, we just laughed it off and got on with enjoying ourselves. Come Sunday evening, it all quietened down again. There was Spanish type music in the bar on Friday and Saturday evening, but we always had a few shandies and hit the toon! Churlish not to!

We are all looking forward to our next trip mid April - Watch this space for another review!

The hotel was an easy level walk from the railway station in Torremolinos. Check-in was efficient though brusque. The public areas were well-maintained though not fully used until the weekend.

Rooms were comfortable and kept clean. We requested extra pillows and they were provided immediately. There was no noise from adjacent rooms. Televisions were old style but adequate. There were four lifts serving the hotel and, at mealtimes, there could be long waits.

The majority of guests appeared to be on all-inclusive deals but we had just booked half board. Seating in the dining room was handled efficiently but different tables were allocated each evening and at breakfast we chose our own table. Drinks' orders were taken as we were seated. There was a wide range of hot and cold foods, including some being freshly cooked. The choice was somewhat repetitive and at times eccentric (peas, carrots and green beans as a breakfast choice).

The weekend was a nightmare in the dining room. We noticed the arrival of coaches on the Friday evening and the hotel seemed very full. The dining room was far from relaxing with massive queues even though additional dining areas had been opened and extra buffet areas provided. The staff seemed barely able to keep pace with the demand but were both cheerful and professional throughout.

There was music and dancing on the Friday and Saturday which attracted many of the largely Spanish clientele.

One haven of peace during the day was the roof pool and terrace area with great views over the town and towards Benalmadena to the west and Malaga to the east.

Whilst there was nothing wrong with the Cervantes it was not the most relaxing environment. It was easy to reach the fine beaches by walking or taking a nearby lift and shopping and a range of restaurants were all very nearby.

Stayed for two weeks last February (2012).
The hotel looks impressive on arrival however the rooms are basic and the wooden floors make for a lot of noise from the room above.
We were full bored and the food became very repetitive over the two weeks.
The hotel has a 4* rating however I have stayed in better 3* hotels.
On the plus side the hotel is in the town centre near to the train station and the night life.

Room Tip: The lifts are not efficient so ask for a low floor.

We wanted to get away for our first valentines (14th-17th) for a nice romantic break, naturally before and after booking i kept note of all the reviews and some did put me off and make me feel abit skeptical about this hotel but seriously these people that have taken time out of their lives to write reviews complaining (e.g how many plugs are in a room!!! - youve got to laugh right?) really have nothing to complain about.
this hotel was PERFECT for us - i know you cant please everyone and there are people who just have it in their nature to want to find something to moan about but here goes -
We were blessed with the weather as we were able to sunbathe everyday up the top pool with the most beautiful view of the sea whilst your laying their!
Gym facilities were abit rusty but cannot complain who goes all inc to get fit??
Sauna opens at 5pm, depending on how hot you like it you are in control of how much water you'd like to use, we just poured the whole bucket on was lovely heated up in no time!

Like said in most the reviews the location is just FAB! Ten mins from the airport train station till your at the hotel and you get a little look around whilst you walk to hotel (seen a review that said this is a ten minute walk? More like 5 if you want to give it a time frame) most places are shut and you can see works being done but your not going to let this spoil your holiday are you?

Food available nearly all day snacks at the bar if need be, we had no complaints about food on main meal times at all - there's loads of it, you will never go hungry, don't be shy to try and you'll enjoy it very much! Only thing that did get to us at our last meal time was the elderly Spanish who seem to have very different mannerism to us we found them very ride and abrupt as if we was in a war for food - we just laughed it off and was glad they had arrived while we were going!! One man actually saw me waiting for a slice of cake and he already had a massive piece on his plate he then took the whole lot! Haha!

Seen alot of complaints about the size of glasses - come on guys your are all Inclusive right?? You can go up as many times as you want, and take two at a time if you want? What is the big deal - stretch your legs the bar is not that far from the seating area.

Beautiful restaurant we went to valentines night cannot remember the name if it for the life of me but I had lobster and he had lamb and we were both genuinely in love with our food! The waiter gave me a rose aswell which was lovely, my boyfriend got the name of the restaurant from the lady at the restaurant so if you fancy a night eating out for a special occasion ask her it's something like 'antox...
Can't remember but was amazing.

When you get to the beach go right their is more life their. Nice little beach bars for cocktails or sangria.

Also catch a train into playa Maza (I think that's what it's called I'm just thinking off the top of my head) they have a shopping centre their we met a English couple who recommended, their is lots of food places their aswell it's a nice couple of hours out.

Can't think of much else, overall lovely holiday would go back their tomorrow if we could, only downfall of our holiday is that when we got to airport I realised the flight home if booked was for MARCH
Haha

I just stayed at this hotel from the 17th - 21st February.

As you will see there are different reviews some give this hotel glowing reviews others do not.

I will break my review down so you can understand why I rate this hotel as just average.

Hotel location:

Hotel is 10minute drive in a car or taxi from the hotel which is great.

I am not sure how aoften the trains run but it is also about a 10min walk from the tran station.

It is in a good part of town but if you go out of season like now most shops are closed (even the tourist ones).

About 10-15 min walk from the beach which is good if the weather is nice.

February weather varies whilst i was there I needed a jacket every day and an umbrella for one day as it rained very heavy!.

Hotel rating:

This hotel is rated as four star. The only parts of the hotel that would be four star are the main reception/rection toilets/bar/dining area.

Once you go to your room you will see that they are very dated need to re-decorate and very basic.

Rooms:

All beds in this hotel are hard! They are like sleeping on the floor! Pillows are not good either long and flat.

No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. There is a fridge should you like to buy drinks and store them.

The TV is very old and they say they have SKY TV. If you only speak English you will only be able to watch CNN or BBC news.

Bring a dvd player with a scart adaptor so you can watch dvds through the TV.

Walls are very thin we could hear people next door talking and other things.....

If you get an adjoining room like we did you will feel like the people next door are in your room, we ask for an immediate room transfer which was done no problem.

Facilities/entertainment:

There in an indoor pool on the 9th floor the lift only goes up to the 8th so you have to walk up not good for those that may not be able to walk upstairs.

The pool is supposed to be heated. It did not feel warm at all. When I went swimming it was raining and the rain was dripping in the pool through the roof.

They really need to paint the indooor pool area as it looks old and dated.

There was NO entertainment during our stay as it is out of season! So dont expect to do anything in the evening.

The kids club is also closed as it only opens in the summer!.

Staff:

The ladies on the reception very smiley and helpful men were no as helpful and most did not speak English.

Restaurant staff al very nice.

Food:

Breakfast lost of choice; boiled eggs, fried eggs, pancakes, fruit, bread cheese, coffee, tea etc. It is the same everyday.

Lunch varies always alot of pork dishes (I DONT EAT PORK) sometimes fish, lots of potatoes, rice, salad, desserts etc.

Dinner varies again lots of pork dishes, fish, rice, potatoes, salad, cakes etc.

Not really sure what children would eat as there was nothing specifically made for them?

This hotel would be far nicer if they made the food menu more pleasing for non pork eaters/vegetarians, updated their rooms, made the beds more comfortable, added evening entertainment and also revamped indoor pool area.

Room Tip: All the rooms are the same. All beds are hard. Do not take an adjoing room.
