“Gran Hotel Cervantes. Not 4star”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

Just got back from Torremolinos on Thursday 31/01/13. My wife and I had a good stay at the Cervantes, but we do have a few reservations, one thing I must say that the hotel was exceptionally clean the towels are changed daily and the sheets twice a week, and our room always smelt nice and fresh. We arrived by car and our first concern was the lack of parking space outside the hotel, we asked at reception where we could park he said we have an underground car park which is €10 PER DAY. This over a week cost more than the car!!! But we managed to park just around the corner about 50 yards away so we weren't that bothered. My next issue was the wi-fi they charged me €9 for 24 hours, considering you are not on it for the full 24 hours I think this is a bit steep, and you have to pay for the in room safe as well. So many extras for an all inclusive hotel..we got talking to some people and they said that they had free parking and free wi-fi and a safe as it is in the low season their hotel doesn't charge. Something to think about Cervantes!!!! In my opinion this hotel only deserves 3 star status definately NOT 4. The food was quite good, something for everyone but very repetitive, 2 weeks here and you would struggle for variety, also the beds were very hard, but they suited my wife who has back trouble, so you can't please everyone. My main gripes were the wi-fi and the car parking, all these extras add up when you have paid for all inclusive, overall I don't think I would go back there, there are lots of other hotels you can choose from. In my opinion this is a fair and accurate description of our stay at Hotel Gran Cervantes

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the pool as the rooms at the rear don't get much sun

Arrived at the airport and decided to get the train for the first time - very easy - ticket machine can be set to English and from there no problem to get to where you want to go - 3.40 euros for 2 and arrived in Torremolinos a 2 minute walk to the Hotel. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff and everything explained to us. All inclusive was a great bonus and the first time I have been to all inclusive where you were able to get coffee or tea all day. Rooms lovely and clean in a Spanish style and great views of the sea. Don't know if I would go in the summertime as the seating and pool areas could get very crowded but for our winter break it was ideal. Lovely area on the roof with indoor heated pool and sunbeds and nice pool area but again I think in the summertime could get a bit crowded and boy it is a long walk downhill to the beach. The hotel itself had very friendly staff and we were lucky to meet some lovely people. Food was fine, always something to eat but was only there 4 days - don't know if I would want to eat there for 2 weeks. Staff were all very friendly and no prolem bringing a cup of coffee or a drink to your room if you wanted. So in short - great for our winter break - had a fantastic time - will go back I hope. Torremolinos itself, our first time there, was very clean but the long walk to the beach not suitable for anyone with mobility problems, there is a lift but even when you get off you still have a bit of a hill with steps to negotiate. Thank you to all at the Blue Sea for making our stay so special.

Room Tip: Rooms with sea view get the sun but might be a bonus to be out of it a bit in the summertime so over...

In 46 years of travel, this is by far the best 4 star hotel that I have stayed in all-inclusive!
Staff, food & drink menu, cleanliness and facilities all excellent. without doubt 4 star +.
15 minutes to Malaga airport by taxi (18 euro), train station 5 minutes walk, bus station 10 minutes walk, beach 10 minutes walk. Hotel is very central for the Costa del Sol.

Room Tip: rooms on the north side quieter, south side is sunny.

FOOD - excellent. Pork, chicken, paella , fish, lamb, pasta, salad etc etc The variety of fruit was good also the oranges are fantastic wish I had brought some back home. Ps the breakfast was extremely good pancakes for breakfast yes please :) . SERVICE - the bar / reception staff Helpfull and friendly . ROOM - clean yes no sun on the balcony which was a shame and the tv only had world news but who goes on holiday to watch tv and sit on your balcony certainly wouldn't let it spoil our holiday Beds very comfortable plenty of hot water ! Walls are thin but this is a very old hotel 1st one built we were told , there was a dog that barked early on a morning and our room was near the lifts so a little noisy but nothing to complain about ! Entertainment is one night a week I think fri night again this never bothered us we sat and chatted and laughed a lot :) ALL-inclusive Alcohol you are allowed two drinks at a time be warned its not watered down stuff they are very generous. I was on vodka lime and soda sis on Bacardi and coke no complaints yes you have to Que. .but they were quick and u soon get nattering to some one ! DRUNKS - saw one woman she was singing from her balcony ( sunny one :( ) At 4.15 in the afternoon she had just arrived and the impression I got of her was she was a alky !!! We left that day so don't no the out come but every one thought they should refuse her drink ! PEOPLE -- lots of Spanish over weekend then predominantly British , LOCATION - ideal for the train from airport €3.70 return !!! On leaving the station the hotel is to your left 5 min walk ! Taxi €20 one way we arrived after the last train , not suitable for people with walking difficulties but good for wheel chair access €0.50 cents in lift down to the beach ! The steps are not bad not steep just gradual , we stayed 19 / 24. We should of arrived on the 18 th but that's another story ( SNOW ) TOP TIPS !! To your left as you enter the dining room there is a self service bar were you can get wine / beer. We never noticed this till the 2 nd nite . Ask for a room overlooking the pool , Again in the dining room to your right you will see a chief on a morning there are boiled eggs, fried eggs , pancakes available and on lunch time and evening they cook stir fry chicken / lamb etc worth a look last but not least when u see an orange get one they are amazing

Sunday 27th Jan 2013. Just got back from the worst week ever. Where shall I start
ROOM - clean and tidy, Get a sea view or you will never see the sun on your balcony. Beds like bricks. TV BBC World News is the only British Channel. Fridge supplied but no kettle. Good heating system. Towels changed daily sheets twice a week.
ENTERTAINMENT - short section there is None.
POOL - On the roof floor 9 along with a gym and sauna - great but not if you have mobility problems there is no chance as the lift only goes to floor 8 there are then 2 flights of stairs.
FOOD - Wonderful if you like Pork and Fish other wise diabolical thank goodness for soup and chips.
LOCATION - Center of town great for shopping but down about 100 steps to the beach - ther is a lift for a small charge.
CHILDREN - Absolutely nothing for the kids to do so most become board and fractious
ALL INCLUSIVE - Snacks were appalling. If you want a beer is is served in a wine glass four make a pint. I prefer brandy and coke and that was fine.
Would not go back even if offered a free week.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the sunny sea view side,

Nice hotel, not sure it warrants 5 stars , but is good value with All Inclusive. Good selection at meal times. Spacious bar and lounge area. Brilliant shower. Clean rooms. My only real critisism is that you have to pay for Wi-Fi, it is 5 euro for 45 mins. There doesn't seem to be many internet cafes around, so do your research on things to do etc before you go. There are v few leaflets in the hotel for places to visit- this may because they have a resident tour operator in the hotel they want you to book through ? Our rooms were on the 3rd floor and there wasn't any street noise.
