“Great value in a good location”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

Central! Moments walk from the train station (and super easy to spot, so if you fly in very tired as we did, all the better to have a hotel so easy to find). Friendly staff at the desk. Clean in all areas. Great views of the ocean. Pool below, but also a pool on the roof, and a gym up there with a view out over the sea! We had no waits for elevators or meals as others describe. Varied options for breakfast. Something for everyone. Such a huge huge dining area, with many approaches to the buffet, all spread out, I don't see how it could be improved. We had no waits, good breakfasts and dinners (would love a few more vegetarian things, but good salad bar offering and more made dinner fine, and meat eaters should have more options than one should likely indulge in). For us we had no waits, great location, happy visit and a great value for what you get.

I spent four nights here in October 2012 and I enjoyed it immensely. I actually spent very little time in the hotel but I was very happy with the level of cleanliness, the attitude of the staff and the location which was within walking distance of a beautiful beach and some lovey restaurants and shopping areas.

Room Tip: We weren't fussy and were at the rear of the hotel looking out on a busy plaza with an amazing s...

As the title suggests, we have just spent a long weekend in the G.H.C, and it was a bit like the curates egg good in some respects and bad in others.
Check in was great ,we were greeted by a lovely very polite young man called Carlos who had us checked in with minimum fuss, given the choice of beds 2xtwins or 1x double, we chose the double and sure enough that is exactly what we got, the room was a corner room on a corner overlooking the square with a large balcony, a table and chairs.
The room itself was quite basic with an old Grundig T.V. that took up a whole dresser top, we did not go to watch telly so don,t know which channels were available, the bed was large with crisp linen and was firm to say the least, the bathroom was large with a bathtub with shower, lots of clean towels and toiletries which were all replenished daily.
The restaurant was at best adequate, you could eat here but you would not really enjoy the experience, the food was very basic cheap cuts of meat and fish all served with very little imagination,we were on an A.I.deal and to be very truthful we didn,t pay an awful lot for our break so I shall refrain from critisizing the place too much , suffice to say we shall never cross this particular hotels threshold again, having said that we really enjoyed our stay and we did meet some very nice people during our stay, I just have to add that the reception staff were all really helpful and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable

Spent the last 4 days at this hotel, nice looking good layout. Made the mistake of going all inclusive poor food weak drinks and far too full at the weekend with only four lifts very stressful waiting 15 minutes for a lift, however I had a great bit of sunshine Malaga very good Benalmadena great and good crack with me mates so a pleasant stay just not this hotel

Stayed at this hotel over this last weekend. Absolute mayhem. My room on the 6th floor and sometimes had to wait over 10 minutes for the lift as the hotel was overwhelmed with Spanish pensionistas. Breakfast was a complete waste of effort with poorly cooked food and severe over crowding. Again had to wait 10/15 minutes for a table then again wait for a lift back up. The hotel is geared for the Spanish oldies who sit around all day and night drinking and waiting for there next meal and then rush down to the restuarant. As normal the hotel is all inclusive and once the hour comes to stop serving free drinks they stock up with multiple drinks then the barstaff charge 7 euros for a gin and tonic. 2.50 for asmall beer. Room was very basic and the tv only had 1 English speaking channel. The public area was well maintained and hotel is located close to the train station. Torremolinos is a ghost town and many shops are closed and restuarants are struggling to compete against te growth of All inclusive hotels like the not very gran Cervantes.

Visit Torremolinos on a very regular basis, but have never stayed in the Gran Hotel Cervantes before. Just back from a one week (November) stay, B. & B. Double room located on the sixth floor was spacious and very comfortable. Huge bed, double wardrobe with sliding doors, two lounge chairs, small table. Unit with T.V. on and small fridge underneath. Large corner balcony with table and two chairs, looked down to the pool and garden area and out to sea. The room was cleaned every day; fresh linen provided; and used toiletries replenished. We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. The ground floor pool area had ample sun beds available; a nice seating area just outside the main lounge. The grass was being re-seeded/replanted, no doubt as a result of a very busy summer season. The main areas in the hotel that we saw, were all very clean, modern and comfortable. Up on the roof is a covered, heated swimming pool which was very nice along with sunbeds; tables and chairs. Outside the pool area there are ample sunbeds too. Fantastic views all round the area and Malaga bay. Breakfast was served down in the main restaurant and was the usual self service buffet with fresh eggs and crepes cooked to order. Ample choices to suit most people I would think. The only things I could fault were the fruit juices, coffee and streaky bacon. Tried all varieties of fruit juice and did not like any of them. Did not seem to be real fruit juice. Coffee had a flavour of chicory and hazelnut, not to our liking. Both were dispensed from machines. The streaky bacon seemed to be reconstituted something, made to look like streaky bacon. The Hotel is right in the centre of town, seconds away from everything - excellent for shopping, people watching, cafes, restaurants, bars and nightlife (tho very quiet when we were there). Beach is aprox. 10-15 mins walk straight down Calle San Miguel and down the steps. There is a lift available to take you back up to the town level but not sure when it opens/closes. We enjoyed our stay and would go back there again.

There's nothing to get too upset about here, yet nothing to get me over-excited.

The food was ok. There was always something there for me to eat, and plenty of choice, but there isn't a meal that will live long in the memory.

The bar was a disappointment. More like a works canteen than a comfortable lounge bar and there's no excuse for the time it took to get served on occasions. Part of the problem is serving beer in wine glasses. There were times that the froth was so far up the glass that it was hardly more than a mouthful, so no wonder people were going back repeatedly, hence the scrum to get served.

The location is perfect. There are so many interesting looking bars and restaurants around, that I wished I hadn't booked all inclusive. It's also close to the railway station and the trains are cheap, clean and punctual; Malaga is 20 minutes away. One of my best days was spent sitting in the sunshire on the top deck of of open double decker bus meandering around that lovely city.

One thing that really got on my nerves about the hotel was the backround music. I was never the greatest fan of modern jazz before I went, but the constant, tuneless rubbish the hotel played is the final nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned. I can only think that they didn't want people sitting too long in the restaurant during meals and had to think of ways to get them out before the next shift is due; it works!

The hotel is ok! Clean and functional, but somehow soul-less.

Room Tip: The "north facing rooms" overlook the square which can be noisy at night, but also don'...
