“Poor all inclusive”
Reviewed March 29, 2012

We arrived at the hotel late due to delays and checked into reception only 30 mins before the restaurant was due to close the reception staff were great gave us an arm bands sending us straight down for food before allocating our room.
On entering the restaurant it resembled an eating establishment at a university or college not a 4 star hotel choice was poor and the food cold but we put it down to the fact it was due to close.
After a few cold nibbles we went back to reception and was allocated our room the room was very clean and comfortable and remained spotless during the holiday thanks to the exeptional maid service.
Back to food I could go on and on about the meals as there was a problem at each sitting
Breakfast was cold not much choice one morning there was a 10 min wait for bacon fruit juice was powdered out of a machine beans were far and few between all juice and watery no proper sausage and no plum tomatoes.
many of the plates and cutlery were dirty as if they had been washed in dirty water and not rinsed most meal times i found myself as did several other guests searching for a clean plate. The upside of it was my wife and i actually lost weight on holiday that was a first.
One thing to remember they shut the restaurant bang on time so dont turn up 5 mins before closing as you wont get anything.
Oh i nearly forgot if you like soups these were actually nice but dont believe what it says on the label i had veg soup that was fish and potato that turned out to be asparagus

The Bar
Well i could write a novel about this where do i start not enough staff the staff that were on spent time collecting glasses or just chatting to each other when customers are queuing yes queuing the bar was like a working mans club on a saturday night often it took 10 to 15 mins to get served and you are only allowed 2 drinks at a time the drinks are served in a small plastic glasses or a wine glass
so if you are a couple and only one of you gets in the queue it will take you around an hour to get served a pint and the all inclusive ends at 11pm so you need to be up and queuing by 10.40 as one of the staff joins the end to stop anyone joining it.
Once 11 comes if your in the queue or not its tuff you have to pay.
Oh yes forgot if you are paying for your beer you get a pint in a pint glass second class citizens here if your all inclusive.
In a nutshell
The worst all incusive i have been to the hotel itself i would have rated at a good 3 star the food and drink a poor 2 star other than 2 reception staff and the maids it was difficult to get a smile from anyone.Food poor and often cold .Upside clean rooms good location in the town.

I was really disappointed in this hotel. Beginning with the reception staff - always in a bad temper, answering our questions as if they were doing us a favor. Elevators too busy - so busy that it was better to use the stairs. I actually tried once and almost got stuck in there - got off on the first floor available. Restaurant too crowded - and it was mid Marrch, I wonder what it is like in summer. Do search for other options.

just stayed here in March 2012

hotel was clean and spacious, rooms a good size, although quite old fashioned, no kettle in the rooms. beds were hard and pillows useless!!!
good location to local shops & taxi into Benalmadena (which has more bars & livelier)

AI was poor & finished at 23:00, food was bland and choice was limited, snacks were non-existent with very little to choose from (bit of left over salad & hot dog sausages!) also AI were limited in variety
observed a staff member from the restaurant leave the ladies without washing her hands!!!

didnt really think was 4 star and wont be in a hurry to return!!

not much entertainment and the 'football' bar didnt have sky sports - just showed spanish games

Room Tip: dont go near the lifts

Just back today from 3 night stay at Cervantes on all inclusive basis. Short transfer from airport. At check-in room was not ready until 1.30pm so our luggage was securely stored and room was ready as promised. Check-in was smooth and efficient and we got our requested sea view at no extra charge. Room 617 was of good size and clean and it even had a fridge!. Safety deposit box cost 3 euros per day. Food was of good quality and there was adequate choice. I did notice that the hotel had received a food safety award and was impressed by this. No-one in our party had any complaints about the hotel at all. There was no evening entertainment and sometimes queues at the bar could be lengthy but all in all, a good choice of hotel in a good location and it was a good choice for a short break.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor and a corner room if possible as they have a larger balcony which gives a panora...

Just back, stayed 5 days at Gran Cervantes

Location - fantastic. Walk out of the hotel, turn right and go down to Prom & beach. Either by lift (back of little square) or stairs (stairs have shops either side).
Turn left and you are instantly in the shopping/bar/cafe area.

Rooms - quite big with enormous beds, fridge, safe, usual bathroom supplies, TV etc. no problems encountered.

Hotel - spotless, always someone cleaning.

Food - good choice. We are experienced at all inclusive. breakfast was good, fresh cooked eggs, bacon, meats, cheeses etc. Various serving points for lunch & dinner, eg Pasta bar, chef bar cooking fresh food (meat, fish, stir fry) Comprehensive Salad Bar, other bars with meat/fish/vegetables/potatoes etc.
Wine is by the bottle, you can pour a glass or take the bottle to your table, not bad quality.
Coffee/Tea machine for breakfast.Juice machine all day in restaurant or bar.
Food is available all day & night in the Bar.
Bar service was good, beer was San Miguel, I enjoyed the brandy! good selection of drinks

Reasonable pool with sunbeds.

entertainment on Fri & Sat, a very good duo, comprehensive repertoire meant most people were dancing, ballroom or disco style.

Reception was efficient and friendly.

Internet room

did not use the spa/beauty facilities

We would return

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a full sea view

My wife and I stayed in the very central, Hotel Cervantes in Torremolinos. We had requested a high floor with a sunny balcony and this was duly delivered. We were on the 6th floor overlooking the pool. This was very good. Definitely go for a high floor but every aspect has something to offer.

The room was a reasonable size and kept beautifully clean by the friendly cleaners.
Food was very good with plenty of choice and lovely fish dishes at every meal.
The reception staff were a bit stuffy to be honest. Questions were answered promptly, just not in a friendly manner.

WiFi was an expensive extra and people we spoke to said it was very slow. This should be free in a good 4* Hotel. Another extra was the room safe at 3 euros a day.

There is a railway station at Malaga airport, and the transfer to Torremolinos is about 25 minutes and 3 euros for a return. The Hotel is about 3-4 minutes from the underground Railway station. Really easy if you decide to make your own transfers.

Would we go back - absolutely.
