We booked a 4 night, out-of-season break here and were not disappointed. From the outside the hotel is typical of the many high-rise, featureless hotels built during the 1970s on the Costa del Sol but, putting the initial appearance to one side, this is a very good 4 star hotel.
The staff are excellent, offering the same service I have experienced at other Melia hotels in Spain.
The hotel is well-fitted and furnished throughout, with a large reception area and a spacious bar and lounge. The standard bedrooms are large and well-furnished in a classical style and the beds are very comfortable. There is ample storage space for clothing and suitcases and the rooms are carpeted and lovely and warm, which was nice as the outside temperature was in the low 60s during our stay. The bathrooms are a good size with a flexible shower fitted over a bath. We asked for a room with sunshine on the balcony and were very pleased to be given one on the 7th floor overlooking the beach and sea.
The hotel has a large dining room offering buffet-style breakfasts and dinner. The breakfasts were very good but I felt some of the selections on offer at dinner were being prepared on a tight budget eg desserts included jellies, cold rice pudding and cold custard but few gateaux or small cakes.
There is a medium-size pool at the front of the hotel with views over the beach to the sea.
We booked a half-board package directly with the hotel which was excellent value at about £250 for four nights
The hotel is in a good position on the sea front with several bars, shops and restaurants close by and the promenade and beach stretches at least a mile in either direction offering easy walking opportunities. The town itself is up a long flight of steps, with shops on both sides, but it was not really worth the climb as the coastal walks were more pleasant.

A taxi from the airport costs 20 euros and a taxi to the very good local station on the line between Malaga and Fuengerola cost 7 euros.

I would definitely use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room with a "sunny" balcony

Seen review on Tripadvisor so decided on a week room and breakfast. VERY pleased with choice. Yes it was basically out of season but still an amount of people about . Breakfast was excellent with good choice of cold and hot items. Omelettes to order with little waiting. Fried eggs always made fresh. Room faced north in block B so did not get a lot of sun guess in summer the south side cold get pretty warm! Room fine, pity about no tea or coffee facilities, but cleaned daily. Too cold to try out door pool which looked a bit small particularly if the hotel full but beach is just over the road. Visited Spa which looked very nice but you had to pay just to use heated sea-water pool never mind treatments. Location was good steps just behind lead up to main shopping area of Torremolines and in summer their are hotel lifts operating. Plenty of choice for restaurants close by.
Overall very happy and would return again.

another excellent stay. Started with no room booking but as expected quickly sorted and in the room within 10 minutes

Staff food and rooms as expected. One comment however that the hotel should consider reintroducing pool towels all year round to save the weight of taking ones own the towel in cases.

well done all at M Costa del Sol

Nice, comfortable hotel in an excellent location on with a bit of a sea view from all rooms. Looks a bit tired from the outside, but the inside is at least partly refurbished. Good service and a very nice buffet breakfast. Would stay there again if I had an early flight out of Malaga. Parking available just few steps from the reception (€11 / day).

Spent 3 nights in the hotel, late Nov 13 and have to say was an excellent experience from start to finish. Really nice quality 4*, very friendly and helpful staff and lovely clean and modern rooms.
Breakfast was superb with an excellent choice of 'Full English' and continental and cereals, fruit, meats, cheeses etc. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 9th floor with Sea views and would choose that again.

We have just returned from a very pleasant five night stay at Melia Torremolinos. The location is perfect, right at the lovely Bajondillo beachfront with plenty of parking available (though we did not need to park). The staff were really courteous and friendly; they had taken note of our email sent a few days back requesting for a large double bed and our fourth floor room was excellent. All rooms have a balcony (with two chairs and a table) and views from our balcony were lovely; there was no direct sunshine on this side of the hotel balcony but we did not stay in our room during the day anyway. Apart from the promised large bed, there was a table and two chairs, one sofa chair, TV, luggage table, mirrored door almirah and easy to connect wi-fi (with wi-fi code left under the glass on the table). The bathroom had a bidet and both the room and bathroom were really clean.

The hotel is not far from the lift to the main town and we used the staircase too as it offered a nice gentle walk uphill to the town. The dining room was large and it was really busy only on one night when a coach trip arrived for the day. Even on the busiest night, the staff were really helpful and took note of our requests promptly. The buffet options for both breakfast and dinner were plentiful and there was a good spread of choices. By the fifth day we were getting a little bored of the (almost) same choices but we can not really complain about the food.

The pool outside on level zero was small but we did not intend to use it (and we did not see anyone else in it either). We also did not use the spa and the gym, but they looked well appointed. On the last day of our stay the bar area was converted to a poster display area for a nanomedicine conference being held at the conference centre next door but it did not cause any interference with our stay. There was an excellent walking and running area almost two miles to the left (on Bajondillo beach) and almost two miles to the right (on La Carihuela beach, stretching to Benalmadena, with excellent fish restaurants).

We will be delighted to return back to this hotel and would highly recommend it to friends and family.
