Melia Hotel Costa Del Sol
Just like lots of reviews before me, I found the hotel extremely clean, bed, bath and room were generous in size, as were the towels. View brilliant from our 8th floor room, sound of the waves sent me to sleep and one night witnessed a spectacular lightening show on the horizon. Missed having a kettle in the room, especially since there did not seem to be anywhere available to buy one during the day. Breakfast was a feast of all sorts, I was spoilt for choice. Not really a fault, but it seemed more like a business hotel, maybe because of the time of year. Excellently situated on the beach front and just a short walk to the steps or lift into the square where there are many shops bars and restaurants. Train was cheap enough too, one day to Malaga, the next to Benalmedina. All in all a pleasant three night stay. Taxi rank outside the hotel so 18 euros and 20 minutes later we had left the hotel and got through security at the airport- brilliant.

Room Tip: We were in 867 and it was perfect for two who didn't spend much time on the balcony, but if you...

This hotel is good ! Its a cross between Business/Holiday Hotel with perhaps the emphasis on the business side. Our room was great sea view, lots of sunshine on the balcony - ok it was on the top floor ,which I requested. I found the reception staff excellent and were friendly and helpful.
We were on the 9th floor and found the lifts quite adequate.
The restaurant was very large and functional - not the place for romantic dinners but a place to get well fed, plenty of variety but as with most buffets choose the food you know well (if you want to experiment take small portions) plenty of fish on the menu. Also Paella every night.
If I have a gripe it was indifferent attitude of 2 of the waiters - they let the hotel down they weren't
rude but lazy - we noticed them over the week.On 3 occasions over the week we were there we had to fetch our own coffee and hot milk which were normally delivered to the table at breakfast.
Wine orders taken well into your meal instead of at the start.
We visited in the second week of November - the weather was great but many of the restaurants shops had closed for Winter, I would ADVISE that you eat at the hotel at this time of year. It is lonely walking outside at night and there are pickpockets etc operating (we saw them).
All in all though a really good hotel.

love this hotel, reception nice and modern, breakfast really good value for money, rooms lovely great sea view, room service nice, free room safe, wifi in rooms really good, staff nice, location good, excellent.

If I owned this hotel i would promote the spa more as I think if we hade a flyer telling us treatments, prices etc we would have enjoyed a spa day, same for the hair salon, more choice on the room service menu, details on how to use the hotel lift to Torremolinos town, towel hire for beach / pool, use of iron & board, ancillary stuff really but potential money spinners for the hotel.

Room Tip: go higher you will get a better view

Stayed here for a week end of October 27th, reception was adequate, pleasant staff, really helpful don't know what previous reviewers got to complain about, rooms are adequate bathroom was of good size, balcony was fairly small tho enough for two people, good views of the sea and beach.
Breakfast was good, evening meals were after a week a bit repetitive but still found something to eat, drinks were pricey but no different than any other hotel, hotel was in a good position close to shops via lifts, also train station was close by too, take a trip to the marina in benalmandena beautiful location, 4 star only because of the facility's it offers maybe a good 3 star all in all

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Melia Costa del Sol. The hotel has a very nice location just across the road from Playa Bajondillo. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout. Rooms are spacious and well equipped, the free wi-fi service which also works in the guest rooms was probably the best I have experienced in any hotel I have stayed in, reliable and a good speed, though you can only use one device at a time per room number. The breakfast buffet was very good with a wide range of choices, including low-sugar and alternatives for those with common allergies. All in all a nice relaxing four days, I would definitely recommend this hotel and would return again if we are in the area.

Room Tip: All rooms look out over the beach, though I would ask for a western facing room as the eastern facin...

The building is ugly and the rooms are old-fashioned, with cheap furniture pretending to be high class antiques. Only stayed one night, but thank God that was the original plan, as I would not have stayed there for another minute. At least the bathrooms were recently (last 5 years) remodeled. Most rooms have balconies with ocean views. The hallways are grim and dark, and the elevators are not sufficient for such a humongous place; you may take 10-15 minutes to get down to the lobby from your room. The breakfast buffet is excellent, even though the cook overcooked my omelet to death. In the buffet there are many choices to have from a healthy breakfast to a hearty meal. The air conditioning system needs a major overhaul throughout the entire hotel, especially at the breakfast buffet.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay with us on TripAdvisor.
We greatly appreciate your feedback , we are sorry that you also had some disappointing comments to make.
Please rest assured we have taken all your points on board for consideration as this was clearly not up to our usual Melia Hotels International standards.

Yours Sincerely

We were part of a tour group ... Our initial room had a terrible smoky smell so we were moved to another floor. The hotel was definitely not a 4 star hotel. The “ocean view” was available really only from the terrace (opening the door took a good deal of strength) and then only if you went to lean over the railing to look between the hotel and the next building. It was hot and the air conditioning struggled to work against the sun beating into the room making it feel something like a sauna unless you closed the curtains giving you no “view” at all. The food – breakfast and the dinner – were fine and there were lots of options. We requested additional pillows multiple times during our two day stay but they never came. My son-in-law wanted to go to the beach (directly across the street) & followed the directions to obtain a towel for beach use. Only problem, he went to get the towel just after 1pm. Towels were not available between 1 &4! Ridiculous … this definitely should have been explained to us. When addressed with Reception, he was basically told ‘too bad.’ No attempt was made to get him a towel … pretty poor service. The Spain “afternoon break – siesta – whatever you want to call it, seems to supersede good customer service. Also the tour director told us not to drink the water ... only use bottled water and we did follow that suggestion. One gal on the tour did not use only bottled water and she did have intestinal problems. The rest of the group seemed to be okay but most that I spoke with did follow the bottled water only suggestion.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for non-smoking room at check in. Because we had booked as non-smoking with the t...

We value the feedback that you give us about the hotel, it's very important for us know the experience of our guests with your prospect, as it helps us to improve the quality of our services and thereby improve the satisfaction of our guests.
Neverthelles i consider important to inform you that not all the rooms have the same views and same rates, and this allocation it´s made regarding the rates , as if you check in our web, we sell as well partial view rooms with reduced prices.

Thanks again for the time you took to write about your experience.

Kind Regards
