“What a Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

If you want a sea view, entertainment, gym, etc., this hotel is not for you. However, if you want an hotel which excels at what it does do, you couldn't do better. Thank you, fellow reviewers, for putting us on to this hotel. It has very friendly, helpful, staff, excellent food and decor and is constantly being cleaned. We have never stayed in a better 3* hotel. We had a week of rain and this hotel saved our holiday from being a disaster. The only fault we could find was that our companion would have liked a vegetarian option for dinner.

Room Tip: Rooms in the front overlook the street, the back overlooks the pool.

What a lovely hotel. The rooms clean, good size, lovely little balcony, beds a bit hard but manageable. Pool area clean, small but adequate, plenty of sun loungers. Food, Breakfast very very good, high quality and plenty of choice. I am keen to stay half board next time to see if the evning standard of meal is as high. staff lovely, in particular Fernando, very attentive, and we made full use of the happy hour in the hotel bar! location good too, close to the long stretch of beach, but far away enough from the touristy bit so u feel relaxed and within easy reach of bustling entertainment and shops. will definately return!

Lost count of the visits to this hotel. This time four friends came and all had nothing but praise for the hotel. The food if anything has got better and the variety improved yet again. It was more than adequate before but now its up with the best.
The rooms are kept clean on a daily basis and even the cleaners are very meticulous and friendly. A few more english channels are now available on the TV. Though really you don't need to be watching TV here. The beds are comfortable and anything you need is looked after straight away. We asked for 6 more pillows and not a problem. If you like sitting on the balcony in the sun, then a room overlooking the pool is the best option.
The pool is a perfect size for the hotel, and the pool area is cleaned twice a day. You can order toasted sandwiches by the pool for only €2.70 and the drinks are really nicely priced.
The hotel is located 2 min walk from the promenade and a pleasant 10 min walk along the prom to the town. There are plenty of shops to browse on the way. If you don't want to walk the couple of hundred steps up to the town, there is a lift for only 50c each way. Well worth it going up but its a pleasant stroll down the steps.
If you are looking for the best value in drinks etc to bring home, you won't beat Jimmy's shop (facing you as you come down the bottom of the steps, next to the shippe bar) Jimmy is a real character and loves the banter.
The best thing as usual about the Don Paquito is the staff. They really are a credit to the Symbol Group of hotels. Damien and the restaurant and bar staff are superb and always smiling. The recption staff are very helpful and remember all the returning guests. A special mention to Maria on the desk. She is really a lovely girl, and would be a huge loss if she left. However there is not one bad member of staff.
Already looking forward to returning again.

Room Tip: All rooms are fine. Over the pool is good for sunshine.

Stayed 10 days half board - excellent buffet breakfast & dinner - friendly staff - bar reasonable & happy hour every evening. 2 minutes to prom then you can walk for miles or 15 minutes to lift to town & Teresa's bar just round the corner. Pizza place ( La Bruschetta ) on way to lift is a must try with a litre of Tinto de Verano to wash it down. Train to Malaga, Benalmedina & Fuengerola excellent & cheap
